I love when Tony is in the hospital and Vito is pitching himself as the new boss. "... with longevity"
btw I'm not downing SWers at all, if I could do less work and just hang dong for a few pics and get to fuck a chick on a video and get paid a lot to do so, I would absolutely do it and I support anyone who does OF because it's just another job to me but she bemoans the fact she has to do OF because she claims her anti-vaxx status basically got her blacklisted. per wikipedia, one of her four acting credits since 2020 was an episode of the Match Game and another was an appearance this year on the Greg Gutfield show. also, she's tweeting about a Newsmax appearance. sheesh.
I’ve spent the bulk of my summer moving which has paused my series watch. The good news is I found my new favorite social media account.
I watched that David Chase thing. I didn’t realize Gandolfini was such a mess towards the end. They apparently had an intervention for him and he dared some HBO suit to fire him for it. I wonder if that was before Chris’s intervention on the show. He seemed to be a nice guy though. Gave 30k to each cast member when he got his big contract.
I've never heard any former cast member speak ill of him. Whether that's because it's reality or because he and that show are so deified at this point that doing so would just invite trouble is maybe up for debate. Rob Iler and Jamie Lynn-Sigler have a podcast together and they preach a very consistent message when it comes to Gandolfini which is always how much of a great guy he was. maybe he had the ability to get through his scenes without causing a mess, some addicts can function at work.
It sounded there was a lot of times where he held up filming or just didn’t show up at all. To the point where had to add major financial penalties to his contract for that. Also, Chase gave the eulogy at his funeral and basically said he wasn’t surprised when he got the call.
In their podcast Steve Schirripa and Michael Imperioli both said Gandolfini was the nicest guy in the world and carried the show. They also said the pressure of carrying the show took a huge toll on him. They had lots of the actors, writers and directors as guests and not only did no one have anything negative to say about him, every single comment about him that I heard was glowing.
Great documentary on David Chase. Gave some great behind-the-scenes info, but does not answer any of the questions people would hope to have answered ...
Tony Sirico doing his own hair and not needing makeup because he goes to the tanning bed is probably my favorite fact from it
Not sure what questions are really unanswered by the show, except whether or not Tony gets clipped… but he definitely gets clipped
Kind of rewatched off and on when HBO ran their recent marathon. One of the greatest shows of all time. I'll choose to believe Tony lived. I don't believe the mob would do him in front of his family
In the lake house episode in the last season, Tony and Bobby are talking about the possibility of getting clipped and Tony says "you probably don't even hear it when it happens." I thought of that after the ending.
A major foreshadowing. I listened to an interview once where a caller mentioned that and Michael Imperioli responded “This caller is onto something”. I don’t think he was supposed to say that because I never heard anyone associated with the show ever say a similar thing again.
I really slowed down on this when the football season started. It didn’t help that season 4 kinda plodded along with the constant depressed Carm crying over Furio shit. Whitecaps was a damn good episode and it’s good to know that at least the Carm stuff was building to that.
