Watched another few episodes yesterday. Everyone getting cancer is shitty, but poor Dr. Melfi. I wanted her to tell Tony so damn bad. Seeing the lamp get taken by Meadow >>>
So, to sum it up, she’s like a woman with a Virginia ham under each arm complaining about not having any bread? Who does that remind you of…? Anybody who hates Janice but loves Tony is missing the point. They’re both miserable fucks bc of their upbringing and who their parents were. I’d argue that Janice had it worse. Their mom was always hard on her (called her a slut when she wanted to go out with boys) and look at the example their dad set for how men are supposed to treat women.
its your first time through the series I’ll give you some slack. We all felt that way the first time through
I think the reason I think that way is that Janice's screen time is obviously not as prominent as Tony, so that when her screen time happens, it's always bullshit. Maybe there's more to come, but the level of petty she is/was about the records and her reaction to that was so dumb.
Andy Reocho I cant wait for you to get to episode 11 of season 3. Pine Barrens. Its considered the best episode. BUT during my rewatch right now. The most POWERFUL episode that has everything is the Season 4 Finale. Whitecaps
rewatch thoughts one of sil's girls has been staying with ralph. they've been doing coke like a mofo for like 3 days. sil goes to ralph's home and there is a problem between sil and ralph, until sil says the girl owes sil $3k. ralph could pay that at any time, but he doesn't sil takes her out to the car ralph watches her get slapped around by sil from the window... and he laughs
I just watched that episode last night. I can't wait for Ralph to get killed(I just assume he won't make it)
got to this one last night but we were getting tired, so we decided to save it. Haven't seen it in at least 10 years but I remember how it hit me when I watched it as it aired. two points on this. First, we see a lot more about Tony's daily life and inner struggles, so naturally the viewer will have more sympathy for the main character than his annoying sister. Second, it shows that Tony was able to make his flaws work for him to achieve a level of success and wealth, while Janice with similar flaws wasn't. Tony is respected in his world, while Janice is viewed by people in the show in the same way we (TV viewers) see her
imo it’s a false dichotomy to suggest that Tony was successful because of his flaws (most of the issues that arise in the show stem from his problems with authority, impulsiveness, etc) while Janice is only in the position she is bc of her own shortcomings. Tony’s flaws are not what achieved him wealth and success, that basically boils down to being born male. If Janice had been a man she would have been the one Johnny boy groomed for the life and would have inherited his businesses when he died.
I love that Monopoly causes that big argument. I can't remember how many arguments we've had with Monopoly about the Free Parking
Also Janice telling the story about Johnny Boy shooting his gun through Livias hair is funnier now that we've seen it in the movie
Nearing the end of my rewatch and Christopher having to change the name of his movie because Eldridge Cleaver’s estate filed an injunction got a hearty chuckle from me
“The sacred and the propane” “this alteration you had with Coco” JFC, every time I rewatch… I become an even bigger fan of little Carmine. He might be my favorite supporting character.
Doing a rewatch and just came across "you're an albacore around my neck." How dumb they are is such an underrated part of the show
Currently watching for the first time. I started Saturday last week and I'm on Season 3. I keep making pasta because of this damn show. Ragu bolognese last Sunday and Baked Ziti yesterday.
Started a rewatch and had a bout of stomach virus last night. Of course the episode that’s up next is in season 2 where Tony gets food poisoning and they off pussy.
They used to have recipes up that would be featured in the upcoming episodes when it was still airing. I remember people having dinner/watch parties every Sunday night for the new episodes.
“Pine Barrens” has to be one of the greatest episodes ever. I also didn’t know Bobby Bacala and Jenny Sac wore fat suits.
Wild how Bobby went from Tony openly treating him like shit to being a close confidant. "Why don't you get the fuck out of here before I shove your quotations book up your fat fucking ass"
