God I hope that's true. It's going to be a little while before I can listen to it myself, but that would be awesome.
It's great. Cruel Summer, Miss Americana, and Death By A Thousand Cuts were the standouts for me on the first listen, but the rest were all very good as well.
This is I Forgot That You Existed for me. I enjoyed it the first time, but now I can't stop singing it after hearing it a few times.
Have only been able to listen to the first 7 tracks so far but of the singles I hadn't heard yet, on first listen I really liked The Archer and Miss Americana.... Those are some cool ass songs
First listen...Cruel Summer & Miss Americana easily stand out as the 2 best songs on the Album. Futher listens...Death By A Thousand Cuts, Cornelia Street, False God and Daylight stood out for me as well.
I know it was released as the 3rd single right before the whole album came out so it kind of got lost in the shuffle of all the new tracks but, Lover is a fucking jam.
From a purely artistic standpoint, the sheer volume and breadth of her creative output is really extraordinary, not to mention how easily she slips into new or different styles. Also doesn’t hurt that she ages like a fine wine.
How much help does she get on the songwriting? Not here to bash; I've just never been able to tell. Her shit will list like 8 different people as writers. I agree, if it's largely her ideas then it's crazy. Not so much if it comes from a team of savvy writers
I've read about her process before and also listened to a podcast episode or documentary track about it. She is the primary writer on all of her songs she's ever released solo which is astonishing considering how many enormous hits she has. From what I understand, she works on her songs by herself and once she thinks she has something, she usually reaches out to friends/other song writers that she thinks can help her finish. Sometimes her song is 50% complete by then, sometimes it's 90% of the way done. I suppose specifically who she takes a song to or what combination of people, depends on the style of song and what she perceives are those people's strong suits. She uses a lot of the same people of course. Some of the most notable ones are Ed Sheeran, Ryan Tedder, and Max Martin. Martin has written an insane amount of hits over the years for all sorts of artists. With all of that being said, it depends on the album for her. She wrote her Speak Now album 100% herself. She's had other albums where about half the songs have co-writing credits and others where they all do. She's also written songs for other artists. Bottom line...she's widely regarded as one of the best song writers alive by many publications and people in the music industry.
Last couple weeks I’ve basically just been rotating between Lover and Ed Sheeran No 6 Collaborations Project. This album is great. Like someone else said, Paper Rings I wasn’t sure about but it’s really catchy and now I like it a lot. False God and Cornelia Street are my favorites. Go back and forth on which is #1
Agree on the singles being my least favorite and I still like them. Yeah the reviews on it were not good but I really like it
Miss Americana... is my favorite song on the album. The Archer doesn't seem to get a lot of mentions but it's in my top 5 somewhere. The entire album is fantastic.
Miss Americana, Cruel Summer, Cornelia Street, Death By A Thousand Cuts, False God and Daylight are basically my rotation on the album. I mix in Paper Rings and I Forgot You Existed from time to time to mix it up. As far as album rotation. I pretty much have been rotating 'Lover' and the New Post Malone, 'Hollywood is Bleeding". Fire.
