Really like champagne problems a lot. adding a couple of thoughts here: No Body, No Crime isn’t a bad song but it feels out of place on this album. Cowboy Like Me is awesome, is that Marcus Mumford on the backing vocals?
As someone who hasn't really been like a major Taylor Swift fan (she's talented as hell just rarely choose to listen to her), I freaking loved Folklore. Excited to listen to the new one
Ivy and Cowboy Like Me are the two best songs on the album and are back to back. I love it. It’s funny, the collab with Justin Vernon was one of my favorite things about folklore and it is not on this one.
Yeah that collab doesn't work on this album. The song doesn't feel cohesive at all when his part comes it.
I disagree. Even at the higher register I like the way their voices play off of each other. Also, the way the song picks up tempo and has the electronics in the background once Vernon starts reminds me more of a Bon Iver song....like she is guest appearing in his song, not the other way around.
Taylor Swift teaming up with Bon Iver, Aaron Dessner, and Jack Antonoff would have never happened if the Covid shutdowns didn’t happen. Such a weird thing to comprehend that Swift went indie. Just think about it we would be in the midst of the Lover tour with a people like my SIL selling out LA’s new SoFi stadium going nuts for that type of music. I haven’t heard a word from SIL about the last 2 albums being dropped or her fans. Instead we have Taylor Swift banging out songs with Bon Iver, The National, Haim, with Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff producing and co-writing. It’s the perfect timing and probably will never happen again, but it’s a pretty cool situation that sprung out of our situation.
He might have co-written the most amount of songs with her out of anyone, ever. They've worked together for quite a few years.
I suspect Folklore will be remembered more fondly, but I don't know if that's because it's better or just because it was released first. My feeling is Folklore had a hire ceiling but a lower floor than Evermore.
I need to listen to evermore, more. Still haven't heard every song and most of the ones I have heard, I've listened to just once.
Taylor is actually kind of serving as a bonding agent between my wife and "13 going on 23" daughter. They have now brought me into the club. Even my 16yo son who is a typical teenage douche was playing some of it on guitar when he thought we weren't listening. Tay is bringing families together folks
It'll get back to a nice mix once life returns to normal and everyone, including her can go back out in the public.
Just listened through Evermore for the first time. It was good. First thought is I like Folklore significantly more but obviously that's how it often goes with new music. Need further listens
I will say Invisible String popped immediately for me on first listen and nothing does that on Evermore.
I think I like Evermore better, although Folklore has my favorite song of the two on it (Exile). The five song run of Coney Island, Ivy, Cowboy Like Me, Long Story Short, and Marjorie is better than any collective run of songs on folklore to me.
