Christmas break is upon us Who else is getting bombarded with emails about unlocking assignments because “my grades”
I know I’m late on this. I’d like to imagine that in a just world this would easily be passed. However, not with a Republican controlled house it won’t.
The fact they proposed this right at the end of the year kinda tells you how confident they are it would pass. The bill would have to be reintroduced this year. A bump even to 60k would be amazing. I would assume my masters and time served would get me past 70k which would honestly be life changing for me.
Took a dean of student job over winter break that will hopefully morph into a VP role at our middle school. Nice change of pace as I was becoming a little burnt out in the classroom
Similarly, I took a new position that just involves advising new teachers. I set my own schedule and travel from building to building. It is a four year commitment, and in five months, the autonomy alone has been completely rejuvenating.
yea it’s the stuff I like about teaching, connecting with people and developing relationships, without the drags of teaching
first two years 8th grade, but one of my classes was for high school credit. High school ever since with a variety of chemistry and physics combos, but all AP physics for the last 5 years.
Yep. First 7 years I had nothing but freshman. Last year all APUSH. This year all sophomores and 1 repeat USH class
Elementary PE, 4th year. Worked at an elementary school for 10 years before that though. I also teach night school PE and summer school at the high school. Enjoy it so much more.
In my experience, (and I was surprised by this) high school beats middle school. Coaching/mentoring beats high school. Teaching college sucks.
Salary increase? I was offered similar position within my district but floored when they told me it’s same salary schedule as teacher. In the end I actually would reduce my salary because I wouldn’t be able to do extra period supplement that I’ve been given the last 2 years.
10 years in the public school system. Worked elementary, middle, and high. Got my sweet university job at the beginning of my 11th yr in August. Life is good.
It goes from 6-7:30 on MW. It’s mostly band and show choir kids that can’t or don’t want to take it during the day.
Just informed that 11 of my re-testers for USH, passed the state exam in December. LET’S GOOOO!!! onward to graduation
Holy shit! that's awful! It's sad that my first thought goes immediately assuming that her administration and school district probably didn't support her before this incident and how they definitely won't after. Always document your requests for assistance with a student.
I read that he was a military recruiter and has to be very careful on how he interacts with students.
ExEd and 504 kid, I’m sure. We have a number of them, but thankfully I’m at a MS and not dealing with a giant like that.
That's basically the same as the county I used to work in (St Pete/Clearwater area). What city/town are you in?
Ours isn’t much different here. We just got a 6.5% cola increase in our cba negotiations for this year that will kick in as soon as we ratify and then 3.5% increase both of the next 2 years. But I’m hoping to be admin by next year so I should see a nice big bump.
Gotta love the abundance of sickness, sneezing, snot flying and coughing going around. Fucking pick this shit up every year, stupid weak ass immune system.
