Figured I would ask this here first before starting a new thread (will take it out of here if y'all think its too far OT). I need to lose some weight so I am going to cut down my beer intake (after Huna Day of course), so I'm looking for a liquor drink that I can enjoy. Never been a liquor drinker, but if I want to enjoy alcohol without so many calories, i figure its the way to go. What are y'alls go-to liquor drinks?
I think most liquor is around 100 calories per shot, so pick something you don't have to mix with sugary stuff to make it taste good. I would agree with 09knight and stick with bourbon that you could drink with an ice cube
Is PseudoSue a beer I should seek out in a limited run in Chicago? https://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/201...-pale-ale-trex-ipa-toppling-goliath-where-buy
Prairie has finally come to AZ. BOMB! was great but $8/bottle is a bit steep. The double IPA I tried was also good.
Normally $6.50 around here so not a huge mark up. Their pricing has made it so I don't buy much from Prairie anymore which sucks because they do make some incredible stouts
I picked up five beers in the past two days. Prairie - paradise - imperial stout coconut/vanilla Prairie - ace - dry hopped farmhouse Prairie - funky gold citra - dry hopped sour Almanac - farmers reserve raspberry Almanac - farmers reserve citrus. Drinking again.
FYI--Lake Monster Brewing Empty Rowboat IPA is delicious. I'm enjoying one right now. Somebody left one behind in my neighbor's cooler last week so I gave it a try and I was impressed enough to buy my own 6-pack. It is apparently a St. Paul brewery.
I dont like IPAss because i like to drink the High Life. Im going to modist brewery tomorrow to get some of their mexican dark stout burrrr. Might hit up Smack Shack on the way home.
Had a flight at the bar Saturday night. The Founders breakfast stout nitro was incredible and after doing some research is not easy to find near me and isn't sold in bottles which is disappointing.
I am slowly starting to enjoy stouts and porters. I have veered away from them for years as I don't like coffee and so many of them have coffee to them; however, I am loving the bourbon barrel aged stuff I have been trying recently. Around this area, Triple C brewery has some really solid ones. Or at least solid to me, someone who doesn't know shit about stouts and porters.
Anyone do trades in here? FT: Treehouse, Trillium, Allagash, Foundation, Bissell ISO: De garde, black project, side project, rustic, rare barrel, good sours from anywhere really
I can offer up most Wicked Weed sours if you're interested. I traded with Fancy so he can vouch for me. Would love some treehouse and trillium
Don't know if you guys are familiar with OEC in Oxford, CT, but they're making some of the best sours out there at the moment. This is my haul from Oudilis Day, their yearly collaboration with Hanssens from Belgium. Middle is Oudilis blend #3 a Belgian style gueze type blend of a 2 year old lambic and a berlinerweisse aged in Chardonnay barrels for 8 months. On the right is Oudilis Cerasus, a blend of 3 year old Hanssen's Scarenbecca Kriek and a OEC sour saison aged in South African Red Wine Barrels with sour cherries grown by the assistant brewer's parents. On left is Oudilis Fragaria, a blend of a Hanssen's lambic aged in oak barrels with strawberries and a wild feementated OEC ale aged in Cabernet Franc barrels with strawberries.
They're ten minutes from me, though I've never been to their brewery or had much of their beer. From what I can recall the beer I've had from them was too funky for me, but everyone has their preferences. CT is hopping with new breweries.
