Portland: Commons and Cascade were both great and I also really enjoyed the Deschutes Public House, really good food selection along with the beer. Apex for a beer bar was great with a huge selection and then right across the street was a good bottle shop called Beer Mongers
My dude I drive 3 and a half hours both ways down from Portland for their shit. If I lived ten minutes away I would practically live there.
Man I need to get my ass down to Treehouse - their hours suck ass tho for anyone with a day job & the lines don't help either. Thankfully, I can just hop on to Trillium and/or Nightshift and get some sweet sweet hop juice. Now only if Trillium bottled their sours more often..
Well if you're ever interested in anything Maine or Mass has to offer I would send some for any OEC releases you might be able to make it over
I may be out of town that week - hopefully i'll know by tonight in time to buy tickets tomorrow AM! I'll ping you if i get the tickets.
We used to go to Treehouse on Saturday mornings, you could get there at like 10:45am and be in and out in 30 minutes with beer. Now you practically have to lineup Friday night to get stuff Saturdays. It's crazy. Anytime we've gone in the last year+ we've taken the day off and driven up Thursday/Friday morning. Last time we got there at 2pm (for a 5pm open) and still were about 50th in line. Hopefully this all changes when they open their new facility.
Yeah - that's what makes it crazy. I guess I'll just wait until they open their new facility - not worth driving an hour + standing in line for beer when I can drive 10 mins and pick up equally good beer any day of the week.
Been meaning to try them, I'll have to do that and OEC next time I'm back home. My parents aren't too far from Oxford.
I really like their coffee milk stout, granola brown ale(2016 world beer cup gold award winner), and their summer seasonal SWAG. The ginga ninja and easy rye da are pretty good too. Their brewery is down an obscure looking road close to the airport, but it's legit.
I don't remember there being much of anything in Oxford so I'm not surprised. Makes it even more surprising that there are two breweries there now. I think the only time I went there was driving around aimlessly in HS.
Yeah taking a day off is the best bet to not have to get there super early/wait forever, but now even on those days people start lining up early. I mean, IMO there isn't much equally good beer to Tree House; especially that's readily available. The hype is real.
Treehouse is 1.5 hours from me. I need to make a day trip to mass once they get their heads out of their asses so I can buy some weed while I'm there too.
I'm sure the hype is real but not worth it for me when I can just walkin to Trillium or Oxbow or Bissell (relatively speaking) for some damn good beers.
Going up across the border tomorrow and will be stocking up on Moon Man from New Glarus (one of the far superior beers they make than Spotted Cow)
Surprised that gets distributed all the way up in the NE considering that's not one of the 12 ouncers
Well, either the trillium anniversary party I lets sold or in .02 seconds or Eventbrite is fucking up
Would love to get my hands on some of the New Glarus Raspberry if anyone from the #MidBest wants to swap in the future
Fucked up indeed - I loaded the page & tried to check out as fast as i could .. no fucking bueno. Man..
You definitely have enough trade bait to get all the de garde on reddit, BA, or Facebook groups. Just punch the dudes in the throat who bitch about the 90 minute drive from Portland to Tillamook and try to use that to add value to the beer. Prettiest fucking drive ever, and the bottle limits lately have been insane. I'll prob PM you soon b/c I have a ton of sours, and have some awesome IPAs I'd be willing to trade here locally for all dat good good you have access to. This thread has kinda fallen apart now that our resident brew master is killing it in CA, and the old folks have decided to do gay shit like group text instead of continue to post on here.
I wasn't referring to anyone specific (maybe/maybe not) but I think the honest answer is the thread kinda went to crap after the crash(es)
I need to get more involved again. There's a serious lack of good beer in my part of the world now though. I know it won't get great return value, but is shipping homebrew stuff frowned upon here?
I'd be down for any good sours. I'm either taking off next Thursday or Friday to do a Treehouse and trillium run so if you got that good good hmu mang
Your home brew I had was pretty good. I certainly don't mind when people throw that stuff in as extras. I'm in Nashville now, so if there's anything in these parts you're after then get at me bruh
