yeah I went there waiting for my dinner reservation at Park Tavern was fantastic and the bartender moved to Portland then we ran into him working at Cascade like 6 months later
Picked up a case from Russian River this week. Was going to share them with some friends, but then I realized I can always get new friends. They're delicious.
Grabbed some stuff for opening day. Go O's. Bells Oberon- Hard so much about it and yet I've never tried it. It's aiight. Pretty good and drinkable but not my favorite. Flying Dog Tropical Bitch- Prefer this to the Oberon. Interesting Belgian IPA with those Tropical notes as the name says.
Anyone looking to do a trade soon? NC here can get Asheville and Triangle breweries - looking for any New England style or West Coast IPAs.
http://www.al.com/business/index.ssf/2017/04/this_horse_drinks_a_good_peopl.html You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink, the saying goes. Beer? Now, that's another story. Take Mac, a horse at King's Home in Chelsea. Mac drinks a Good People Brewing beer a day. King's home provides services to women and children who have been abused or who are at risk of being abused, one of those services being equine therapy. Mac was given to King's Home, but he had some health problems like Cushings disease. A symptom of his ailment is Anhidrosis, or losing the ability to sweat. His vet told the staff at King's Home to try giving him a beer each day, in addition to other therapies like supplements. The staff gave it a try, and his condition improved. He's been drinking a beer a day for almost a year. "Beer has ingredients that can open the pores and help them sweat," King's Home Development Director John Tidwell said. There's no alcohol allowed on King's Home's campus. Mac's beer is locked in a cabinet. Mac's in his early 20s, but they're not sure exactly how old. That's around middle aged for a horse, and Tidwell jokes that he's started drinking in his midlife crisis. Tidwell knew Good People's Cofounder Jason Malone, so he called him and asked if he'd essentially sponsor Mac's medicine by donating the beer. Malone happily agreed. "Apparently, he's a big fan of IPAs. He'll be our biggest, literally and figuratively, IPA fan," Malone said. Mac's health has improved immensely and he's working with kids again. He visited Good People's Brewery before it opened on Thursday. "God has just really provided for us in an incredible way," Tidwell said.
I live right by a brewery that's cranking out NE style IPAs. Just sent out a bunch of boxes but give me a few weeks and I'll take you up on your offer.
Bearded Iris in Nashville. They are making some really good NE style IPAs and release fresh cans every Friday.
I haven't tried everything but there is some good stuff here. East End is pretty solid, Big Hop is probably their best. Church Brew Works is an old church turned brewery/restaurant. Pretty good stuff. Food is pretty eclectic. Voodoo Brewing is over the Mon river from the city and is really good. Just a tap room but worth a stop. Full Pint is probably one of the most well known Pittsburgh/Western Pa breweries. A lot of people around here will tell you check out Penn Brewery. It's not my favorite brewery but they've been open since the 80s.
Also if looking for places to eat with a good selection I'd recommend. Fat Heads Saloon which of course has Fat Heads brews and some others. Fuel and Fuddle in Oakland so lots of college aged kids was really good food and a solid selection. The Urban Tap is also a place you can't go wrong. Oh yeah Bingham Tavern on Mount Washington had a really good selection but fucking amazing Mac and Cheese. Plus you can't beat the views of the city from Mt. Washington but parking is atrocious.
Had Conquista last night and was a big fan. One of the better IPAs I have had in a while. Great balance of hops.
The Brew Gentlemen is the one that gets a lot of hype for NE Style IPAs, if that's your thing. Think it's in a suburb.
Would like to try some Trillium. Can trade for some sours or do PayPal. Let me know if you're interested.
There's a lot of good fucking beer out there right now. Managed to drink a good variety in last 2 days. That is all.
I just finished a crowler of Boulevard Rye on Rye on Rye in about an hour and a half. I am intoxicated and it was good.
Anything new in SF these days? Doing Cellarmaker and Almanac for sure. Want to hit City Beer Store before Cellarmaker but our reservation at State Bird might get in the way.
