I was really surprised how delicious and citrus-y this beer is. At 4.9%, makes for a great session beer.
So I won tickets to FOFA and had to sell em to a buddy. He bought them at cost AND is loading me up with bottles of American Solera and a case of mixed HF cans. Not the same as going but
I believe all that I have had previously were collaborations. We were over in Miss Saturday at a restaurant and I just grab a beer out of the cooler that I had never tried before. I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. Ill definitely pick up some more when I see them again.
Not beer but a story relating to cunty beverages so thought yall might enjoy: Friend of mine works in HR for an alcohol distributor. They're doing a relocation package for a new guy to move to their location and dude is requesting $1800 to have his wine collection climate controlled as part of the package
Flying to Jacksonville Sunday morning and staying in Gainesville for the week for training. Any can't miss places?
Aardwolf in Jax if you get time. Swamphead Brewing is enjoyable & I like their beers. 1st Magnitude is there as well & so spots like Crafty Bastards, Tall Pauls & GHoB.
Visited the new-ish Catawba brewery in Charlotte last night and I'm a big fan of a lot of the small batch stuff they have been putting out. Also really enjoyed the Freaky Tiki Pineapple IPA.
Any good breweries/bars to hit in San Antonio? Heading down for a surprise party on a Saturday night but my flight gets in at like 10am that morning so I'll have all day to burn. Zack Zedalis are you anywhere close???
I'm in CLT & then Pinehurst until Wednesday next week. Can't help with anything San Antonio either:sadpanda:
Ended up at Trillium after work. Did not disappoint. From left: Adult Human (with Veil), 200K trillion (with Other Half), Miles Away (with J. Wakefield), Dialed Up Seven Digits (with Monkish)
Not sure of too veil but it is pretty good. Subtle-ish blood orange / orange taste that lingers a bit. I think out of the 4, the most non-trillium beer was miles away - a lot of guava in that sour (in a good way).
I like The Veil but they're the 3rd brewery I'll go to in RVA because of the hype. An's and Triple Crossing put out beer just as good but with way less lines. This isn't a knock but The Veil just constantly tries new and sometimes odd shit with their beer. Sometimes it lands and is as good as any beer you'll drink but other times it falls short. I actually appreciate this about them. They could make the same 10 favorites over and over and perfect them but they like to experiment. For me it's just the lines and insane trading of their beer. Triple Crossing is the shit, just stroll in and grab a couple cases of beer that's arguably just as good if not better but definitely more consistent. But don't tell anybody.
Hope they spent time learning shit about distribution & supply/chain from the trillium guys when they were up here. These guys here run like fucking clockwork. The max I've waited for beer in line is 15 mins at their canton location, even for special releases (incl. yesterday for Adult Human & the Dialed Up 7 Digits). Even for the Boston location, which is quite small, I've only waited 20-25 minutes max. That's one of the main reasons I've never bothered to go to Tree House. Just can't stand in a line for beer anymore when there's so much good product all around. I can't even imagine waiting overnight for Other Half in that part of Brooklyn. That's plain stupid to me - there's other good breweries, equally good if not better in Brooklyn / LI itself.
I've always liked Trillium for how they do it. Plus I just love their beer. Triple Crossing is to Trillium (on smaller scale) as The Veil is to Treehouse. And nothing compares to An's, just a unique place, beer, and dude.
I'm not big on this "lets throw actual whole entire dishes of food into the mash" movement in beer right now
With regard to the bolded, I'd move in there if they let me. Hope to make it up to Richmond again soon.
We were in RVA for a wedding in May and really liked Triple Crossing. I only had a couple of sips as I'm PAF but really enjoyed everything I tried. KJROD20 took some cans of Paranoid Aledroid home as well. KJROD20 Fancy
Man I miss this thread.... I haven't traded with anyone in a while. There's this guy I met locally at a can release that I hooked up with some stuff he missed out on. I hit the jackpot with the guy - his beer packages are insane! He gets so much, he just sells me bunch of cans for like $30-$40! Incoming beer shots..
I need to get in on something like this. I love good beer but moved to a location without much access to any good beer. I feel guilty about trading because I don't really have anything to send in return. Would love to pay people to send me good stuff.
Anyone had Big Timber Brewery out of WV? I was at a small beer/BBQ/blues fest in Snowshoe this weekend and they had some awesome shit. Double Bit DIPA was my favorite.
Some more from yesterday: Mantra Citreamsicle - IPA (wasn't my fav) Amplified Ale Works - Electrocution IPA Mikkeller x Tired Hands collab - Holographic #1 IPA Stillwater - The Cloud IPA
