Yeah it was in downtown SD. I really enjoyed everything there. Funny that San Diego is known for their breweries and, while they’re good, a small city like Birmingham’s are still better.
Is it crazy for me to drive up 3.5 hours both ways to Hill Farmstead this Thursday for double citra cans and then do it again in two weeks for their anniversary week rare beer releases?
On a serious note, drive up, get some double citra and I'll live vicariously through you. my driving for beer days are as good as over. And don't forget to wend me some of those cans tho in lieu of the solid advice.
Just got some VIP tickets to a craft beer festival in town on Saturday. Unlimited tastings from 30+ breweries. Can't wait
So basically they use cannabis nugs in place of the hops? I have wondered how that would be. How was it? Hops and cannabis sativa are first cousins
Where'd you have it? And last question, was it psychoactive from the cannabis or just regular beer? (Assuming just regular)
Was it made with terpenes? Had a few up at the Southern Grist 2 year part from Twisted Trunk (I think?) that were made with terps. Was dank. But no other weed side effects.
Headed to Nashville tomorrow. Planning to hit Southern Grist and Bearded Iris. Anywhere else we need to add to the list?
Not sure if you're aware but SG has 2 tap rooms now. Original is in east Nashville. New one is in "The Nations." The Nations is closer to BI if time is a concern.
I’ll be with an unorganized crew so who fucking knows if time will be a concern. Which one is better?
I think Nations has more on tap, generally. Only been to each once a couple months back. Nations is definitely bigger, and has their production facility attached. East Nashville is cool, but if you've got a group might get tight in there depending on how many you have.
Be prepared for a shit show tomorrow with Game 7 for the Preds. Also, you'll probably like Smith & Lentz so check them out. I'll PM you my cell. I'm a few blocks away from Bearded.
I'm not much of a "cellar" guy but would like some group thought. Been saving a SN Barleywine every year going back to 2011 (had a near panic attack tonight doing the audit as 2016 was deep in there). 2011-2014 made a cross-country move with me. At what point do I crack these open? Marriage? National title? 10 years? Rest of my shit isn't stellar, mostly some 2012 BCBS, some 2012 120, and a Mad Elf I can't identify. That 120 is aging until PSU wins a natty. And then jorge and I are cracking it in the most stupid drunken joy.
I’ve found beer that old to be less than stellar. I cracked a 2013 SN BBA Bigfoot earlier this week and it was a flat, heavy barreled mess. I actually drain poured most of it. I stopped “cellaring” beer for the most part. I’ll keep last year’s version of the annual staples (KBS, BCBS, Bigfoot, etc) for comparison to this year, but I drink most of my beer relatively fresh now.
Had a few beers last and decided that I would buy a ticket to Modern Times Festival of Funk. Line up looks ridiculously good. http://www.moderntimesbeer.com/festival-of-funk
