Gentlemen, what you see pictured below is the following: Pork rib burnt ends, Cajun buffalo smoked wings, spicy homemade sweet pickles, fried okra, and a cucumber tzatziki sour brewed with dill. I have to say, every part of this meal is incredible. Good day
Looks fantastic John McGuirk. You have a recipe for those pickles? Been doing a lot of pickles lately and good use to mix it up a bit.
Unfortunately, I don’t. I can’t take credit for any of this, it was from my local BBQ and brewery joint. Strangely, the tzatziki gose was the perfect beer for the bbq I HAVE been doing some of my own pickling to try to recreate these pickles as they are fucking decedent. So far I have been unsuccessful, but I might have cracked the code of what I am missing: old bay seasoning. Sugar, apple cider vinegar, cayenne pepper, and old bay is all I can decipher so far. Going to try to can some soon to see how close I am. If I can nail it, I will share the recipe
I'd never tried Twisted Monkey but it's delightful. Tastes like an upscale Blue Moon. I once drank an unchilled Golden Monkey in the Meadowlands parking lot in the August heat and I think that ruined it for me forever.
Anyone use Tavour? I can’t see what inventory they have because we don’t have it in Arizona, but curious to see if you get a good selection.
Just got back from our local bottle / can shop that now does online ordering (not open yet). - Surly Todd the Axeman - Pizza Port Kook - Half Acre Big Hugs - Pueblo Vida Barycenter
Big Hugs is great. Been a big fan of Half Acre ever since I accidentally ended up at the opening of their tap room.
and KJROD20 Used it for get ADTWD but enjoyed the other offerings. Got some Drekker sours and Weldwerks stouts. I wouldn't used it for hops unless it was the last thing I put in my box.
11 > 19 > 15 So much heat on the 11. Vanilla is dead, just a hint of chocolate and then heat. Not boozy, just pepper.
450 North has done some really shitty stuff recently. Never had any of their beers, but man are they tone deaf.
I agree with you...but this one was actually good. I had the same sentiment prior to trying the beer.
I'm starting to focus my buys on lower ABV stuff. Having a fridge full of double IPAs, Belgians and imperial stouts has been leaving me hungover
Tried two great dry hopped Pilsners from Intrinsic the other day. One was dry hopped with citra, the other was dry hopped with cascade
ABV stuff, exploding cans, “shipping off” beers before ABV labeling was ready. Just seems like they went from being one of the most in-demand breweries to digging themselves a deeper and deeper hole with each and every step while never rectifying anything. If you’re on reddit, there’s plenty of info in the craft beer sub.
Yeah I'm aware of all that stuff. I guess I don't see it as a big deal. I mean the wrong ABV stuff was bad, but the rest is just adjacent to that. I mean low ABV and exploding cans should have been pretty obvious byproducts of adding that much fruit puree into beers, and I say that from a consumer standpoint. I have zero issue with them putting out cans without the ABV since they post the Sun King Analysis of those beers now. I disagree that they never rectified anything because they do that, and they adjusted their recipe to get closer to the ABV they had originally advertised/planned. Idk, I don't think it's any worse, in fact I think it's less worse, than Trillium dumping hard liquor into their beers to up the ABV. Maybe its just me, but when you buy beers that are damn near literal smoothies, I think you'd probably care more about flavor than ABV anyway.
