    Is the only difference between a double-dry hopped IPA and a double IPA that the DIPA has all the hops in for the whole brewing process and double-dry hopped they just throw more hops in in the drying phase?

    So you can have a DDH DIPA, normal DIPA, or DDH IPA?

    DDH is just double dry hopped. So dry hop it once, dump those hops, dry hop again. It can be any strength of beer. We DDH pale ales, IPA, and DIPA

    Got it - so is it correct that if an IPA needs X amount of hops to brew, a DDH IPA will need 2X those hops (because you dump then re-hop), a double IPA will also need 2X since it's double the hops from the original IPA, and a DDH DIPA will need 4X those hops (double hopped with twice the amount of hops)?

    No a double ipa Just is a stronger abv ipa. It doesn’t have any bearing on a dry hop levels. So a brewery dry hops at a certain pounds of hops per bbl for each style. Then they just double that for a ddh. Most breweries doesn’t increase the dry hop much of at all between ipa and double ipa. The increase in hops comes in the kettle for bitterness to balance the alcohol and residual sweetness of dipa compared to ipa. A quadruple hop ipa is a thing but it’s a ridiculous crazy thing.

    Got it, thanks for that. I tried a triple IPA from a brewery I love last week and it was super alcohol forward and was hard to get through to be honest. I like the 8-9% DIPAs but only have found one brewery that nails 10-11% TIPAs. Never heard of a QIPA but sounds like a thing
