Agree on Salyer even if the sample size is suspect. He moved people when he was in. He's different. Ben was nice last year and then when he played this year, but I think he might still have a little Watts Dantzler in him. He likes to party, hunt and fuck a lot. I'm sure he will be back 100% for this season.
Yeah, that’s pretty common. People change their gaits when recovering, and it puts extra stress on the healthy knee until it gives.
I come in peace to talk recruiting. What are the current thoughts on Myles Murphy and Arik Gilbert? I know UGA leads, but is it thought they may end up elswhere? Read in a couple places Murphy may not want to go to the same school as Bresee, wondering if I should be pulling for you guys to land or if that is fan site bullshit.

Brock Vandagriff (Photo: Rusty Mansell, 247Sports) -UGA OC James Coley stopped in Prince Avenue this morning to check in on 2021 QB Brock Vandagriff. Lincoln Riley was at his basketball game last night and offered him after seeing him in person. Will Muschamp was at his school in the morning as well. He is going to be a national recruit and truthfully already is. -Head Coach Kirby Smart stopped in Wilcox County this morning so he is hitting South Georgia schools I assume or middle Georgia today. 2020 LB/RB Desmond Tisdol at Wilcox is really good looking player. -Spoke with 2020DL Jay Hardy this morning and he is going to be at UGA this weekend. He is getting a lot of new offers almost daily. He said that Zion Logue is working him hard to join him in Athens already. 7COMMENTS -2020 RB I told you about this week at Cedartown, Kobe Pryor is blowing up. He has picked up Texas and South Carolina so far on Wednesday morning. He told me on Monday that UGA was his ‘dream offer,’ he is gets it down the line. He is going to run sub 4.6 at camps at 210 pounds. Works out with Nick Chubbat 6am during the week.. -Working the phones on some 2019 guys and should post something later today on that...
Clemson and Georgia right now with Murphy. Mom is an alumn, he grew up a Dawg. Gilbert, I think we get him. Clemson made a big push last weekend. We won’t have much for TE’s on the roster after this season.
Okay so whitey needs to go to Penn State, cool. Gilbert's a freak. Hopefully we can sell him on Howard and Irv Smith to at least get him to listen. That big fuck from Las Vegas looks good too, though.
Watch fuckin Locksley get him. Relay that to your head coach for his recruitment pls. We'll happily tell him he'll get 700+ yard seasons here, before moving him to defense the spring he enrolls.
Really wish we could’ve somehow convinced him to tough it out just through the spring. I bet he would’ve stayed for the long haul then. Whatevs. Onward and hopefully upward.
Just sign Seither and we'll take that scrub off your hands next year, it's a fair trade, I promise. Spoiler I could definitely see Seither catching passes in 3-5 years for an NFL org, don't really want him going to UGA
We have a full roster of coaches, so it isn't anybody external. The lack of an announcement is weird for sure.
The highest-paid defensive backs coaches in college football Zach BarnettJanuary 30, 2019 The 2018 season was the most prolific and efficient passing season on record in college football. As such, when building a staff, stopping the pass is, obviously, a major piece, lest your team get torched week after week. But how major? A FootballScoop study found the top 10 highest-paid defensive backs coaches earn north of $400,000, but not as much as the 10 highest-paid offensive line coaches. Behold, the latest in a series examining the biggest salaries for position coaches across major college football. Information courtesy of the USA Today coaching salary database and based on publicly available contracts. 1. Charlton Warren, Georgia — $600,000 2. Criag Naivar, Texas@ — $500,000 2. Chris Partridge, Michigan@ — $500,0000 2. Paul Rhoads, UCLA — $500,000 5. Maurice Linguist, Texas A&M — $450,000 5. Keith Hayward, Oregon* — $450,000 5. Anthony Poindexter, Purdue* — $450,000 8. Mike Reed, Clemson — $440,000 9. Anthony Campanile, Michigan — $415,000 10. Paul Haynes, Michigan State — $410,000 10. Corey Raymond, LSU — $410,000 * – Also a co-defensive coordinator @ – Also a special teams coordinator Other notes: — The emphasis of this exercise is to study position coaches, not coordinators. That said, it bears mentioning that South Carolina’s Travaris Robinson ($1.2 million) is technically the highest-paid defensive backs coach in the country. We’re trying to find the price point for coaches whose primary responsibility is to coach cornerbacks and safeties, not call plays. — Yet again, Alabama and Ohio State are nowhere to be found. The Buckeyes actually led this list in 2018 with Alex Grinch’s $1.158 million salary, and new hires Jeff Hafley and Matt Barnes have yet to have their salaries revealed. Alabama defensive backs coach Karl Scott, on the other hand, remains employed but nowhere close to the top 10 at just — “just” — $350,000 a year. No one coaching football for a living at the Power 5 level is underpaid, but if they were, Scott would have to be among the most underpaid coaches in the sport. — Two new hires made the list in Georgia’s Charlton Warren and Michigan’s Anthony Campanile. — Each hire is rounded to the nearest thousand, but technically speaking Haynes makes more than Raymond. USA Today lists Raymond’s salary at an even $410,000, while Haynes makes $410,002.
Seems like we overpaid — by a lot. Would rather see that money go to keep our proven commodities even happier.
I wonder if Warren’s and Pittman’s salaries are going to end up causing financial issues on the staff. Since those guys are at the top for position coaches, big raises for Dell/OC/DC in the future may be difficult. McGarity obviously isn’t afraid to spend money, but there has to be a limit somewhere. Will be interesting to watch.
Right. It works for 2019, but what happens in 2020 and beyond if one of our coordinators or Dell gets legit interest elsewhere? We already have a high salary pool, and our coordinators are likely going to be underpaid compared to other championship caliber programs.
Salaries are going up everywhere. Dell gets a raise seemingly every year. You have to pay people. That's what Bama, Clemson, etc are doing. Shit, Tennessee just paid Chaney $1.6 million. What was Mel making? Did we save some money there? I'm guessing Schumann and Lanning are going to get some kind of bump. Seems to me like we got younger at coordinator positions and just spread the money around more. I'd have to actually look at the numbers to be certain.
Lost both coordinators and hired internal. We bumped up Pittman, brought in Warren and Hartley. Just a guess but our payroll is probably going to be less. I'm sure I'm wrong.
As long as we’re in the 6-10 range, I won’t be alarmed. If we’re near the top with cheap/young coordinators, it will be fascinating to watch. Hell, I still defer to Kirby on a lot of stuff, and overpaying position coaches and underpaying coordinators may be a market inefficiency that he’s exploiting in our favor.
I also do not understand paying Warren that much but I'll go with Kirby because I've been wrong before on his hires.
Thoughts on the secondary this season? S Reed - starter S Lecounte - starter Stokes and Campbell will probably get the first crack at corner with Divaad at nickel. Divaad changed his number to 8 now. Fuck you, Deangelo. Stevenson will be in the mix here too. McGhee - seems like he's been at UGA since Donnan S Reese - Nickel Webb - no clue CB Speed - no clue S Cine - like him a lot CB DJ Daniel - have no idea what to expect from him. idk if any of these guys will play: CB Chris Smith CB Poole S Brini Sure would like to add Elam at corner.
I still don't know why we took Daniel. I forgot Brini was on the team. I like our safeties but our corners leave a lot to be desired. It will be interesting if LeCounte finally puts it all together or gets passed. He's got some guys behind him I really like.
Over 6 foot and ran nothing but 4.4's. Add in he has long ass arms and huge hands and I see why we wanted him so bad
Yeah, I think the starters are Reed and Lecounte at S. Campbell and Stokes at CB. Wilson at Star and Webb at Money McGhee doesnt need to see the field Reese should play a ton and we all love his uspide and physicality. Just gotta get better in coverage and be more disciplined. Speed and Daniel are the 2 most intriguing guys to me at CB. Both have a ton of upside and ability, but can they pass the 2 guys that played a lot of snaps last year Cine is gonna be a stud. I think he plays with the 2's Poole was solid and had some good moments last year then just disappered. Smith was at FS late in the year. He's a good player, but doubt he sees the field much at his size No idea on Brini
Maybe I'm overthinking it, but doesn't it feel like we need a lot more depth at corner? Thank god we've got all those warmup games to start the season to get Stokes and Campbell ready.
I think so. Why Daniel was so important because we dont have any upperclassmen at CB. They're all either sophomores or younger or guys we hope get passed
