Main benefit of staying on property has always been the buses/ease if transportation, but the times I’ve stayed at the all star places the buses were so slow that benefit disappeared. Not sure how the sky tram stuff has changed that.
They tell me there is still plenty of availability, so I'm not overly worried at this point. Just can't find somebody with the points yet. How long should I wait?
are there any bars that stay open late (like midnight)? while I'm there the US plays Mexico in soccer. game starts at 10pm and I would love to put the fam to bed and head to a bar to watch it, but it looks like most of them close by 11 at the latest.
Like hotel bars? Pretty sure only the deluxe resorts have hotel bars and the TVs aren't that big. I think your best bet would be one of the bars at Disney Springs. Pretty sure the one at the bowling alley has plenty of TVs and stays open late.
I'm at the Grand Floridian, was hoping for something in that area, but I can uber somewhere if need me. just a matter of getting the kids to bed. I'll be with my BIL,
Ubering to an Ale House is going to be your best bet. Disney Hotels aren't really set up for going and watching a sporting event.
Going to Disney Monday-Sunday and hitting all the resorts through the week+ universal studios for Harry Potter world. Staying on the resort for the trip. Doing Riverside + Boardwalk. What do I absolutely have to do?
popping in and out of a conference at yacht club this weekend. seems really nice and didn't really even know it was here. Guess just not one of the resorts I hear being mentioned a whole lot. Maybe a little cramped of a space though but they pull off relaxing vibe well. It even smells like a yacht club.

dont know how old your kids are but all I know is my kids (5 and 2) dont ever notice anything im stressed about (like a crowded monorail) and rather think things I am stressed about are either hilarious and/or awesome.
5, 3 & 2. probably more hoping my wife gets everything she wants out of it as she's spent so much time planning. just want the kids to cooperate.
as you know cooperate and happy are two different things lol I'm sure you'll be happy at the end of it when they talk about their favorite things and whatnot even if you couldn't find anything good and easy to eat other than a pretzel for 12 straight hours.
we did Mk and HS this week. Was crowded as shit, I got really anxious/nervous a few times because of how crowded it was. Kids had a great time (almost 3 and almost 7) Got genie plus right at 7 and were able to get thunder mountain at like 10. I pretty much ran with my son to do pirates and then haunted mansion right at open and maybe waited 20 mins for each. Got genie for barnstormer and buzz later in day. Waited for the cars for like 30 mins and we waited for little mermaid for like 45. Only thing we didn’t do that my son wanted to do was splash mountain (was freezing in the morning and then was like 120 mins all day) and mine train. He was really bummed about mine train because we were able to ride it a few times last year HS on the other hand was a nightmare. Was overcrowded and was almost a stampede at 8:30 when it opened and they turned the early entry lines into general admission. Got fast pass at 7, and slinky dog was no longer available immediately. We did rockin roller coaster at like 9:30. Son was freaked out and definitely didn’t like it. Slinky dog was 90 mins according to the app right before opening at 8:30. Should have just got in line then because it was over 120 mins and as high as 135 all day. We waited for the other toy story ride for like 25 and kids liked it. That was only actual ride we went on besides rockin roller coaster. Everything else was 90+ all day. Did the shows and walked through Star Wars and cars thing at very end. We were in the car at 4. Was first time at HS and probably won’t ever go back. Not sure how you can expect positive guest experience when you can’t get on a ride in less than 90 mins. It’s a kids place. Kids can’t wait in line that long. Complete joke. Oh, and genie was useless as at 10:30 when we could do our next one, both Star Wars rides were unavailable, Mickey and Minnie weren’t available until after 7pm. Kid was in tears about slinky dog so that cost me a fucking 75 dollar rc car that was all He wanted to calm down. TLDR: was crowded as shit and HS sucks
Oh, forgot to add good things about HS - 1. My daughter loved the characters you could walk up and meet. She flipped out about Pluto. Also had doc mcstuffins and a few others from Disney jr. Olaf was also there inside. She loved beauty and the beast show and frozen song along 2. Indiana Jones stunt show is awesome. Best thing I’ve come across at Disney. Son liked it and I showed him the opening scene of raiders which is one of my favorite movies back at the house 3. they have alcohol at HS which is nice
Last of 7 days today. Stayed at the Grand Floridian and now we are spoiled. The pools are awesome and it is nice to have quicker dining that is not overrun by cheerleaders and band groups. HS was packed both days we went, but it worked out as we rope dropped Sugglers Run the first day and got a fast pass for Mickey and Minnie Runaway railroad. Next day got fast pass for Tower of Terror and Rise and rope dropped Slinky Dog. Ended up riding everything there except rockin but my daughters didn’t even want to try. MK was best last Saturday when it was colder and cloudy. We got in from Houston at 12:30 so we made it to the park at 2. Had one other day at MK that was busy but we hit everything except mine train(was harder to get than Rise when we were here). Epcot was packed and my daughters were completely exhausted that day so it wasn’t as much fun. Ratatouille was awesome and the girls love the frozen ride but other than that it was just ok. AK was great cause it was below 60 degrees and the crowds never showed up. Sucks that Everest is closed but my oldest rode it a couple years ago so she didn’t care. As for dining, I ate nothing that I would ever care to have again. Ohana was the biggest disappointment. It is Panda Express quality food at 55 per person and they gave us enough food for 10 completely obese adults so there was a ton of wasted food. Ambiance was good but I will never pay for that again.
Ohana bread pudding was still great when we were there in November but the food is middling. Was only worth it for us because we timed it perfectly with fireworks and had a window table. Probably won’t go again unless something changes
Ohana seems like the typical character dining. But there are no characters right now so other than view/ambiance there isn’t any reason to go.
noodles are good, but I aint paying $40 for noodles when the rest of the food is meh (and yes the bread pudding is equal to the noodles)
The wings and pot stickers are good. But I do agree that the steak and shrimp are very MEH. The chicken is honestly the best of the main course.
Yacht club/Beach club, is in my humblest of opinions, the best place to stay in WDW. For full disclosure I have not done Polynesian which I have only heard great things about and it is certainly a cool place when I've walked through. I just love the Epcot/HS resort area. You can walk to two of 4 parks, the sand bottomed pool with a great bar area is there. Beaches and Cream, the boardwalk. It's just great. Hard to get my kids to go back to park in the evenings some days because they like the pool area so much.
Same. Text if you want to sneak off and make out in the middle of the night. We have a friend that’s a travel agent and she booked everything for us and told me “just follow my itinerary and have fun”. I’ve never been before and have done absolutely 0 research. We’re staying at the Riviera I guess? She said it’s pretty new. I’ll have to look up the dinner reservations she made. We’ll do magic kingdom and Epcot because I feel we have to but my kid will just want to be at HS the whole time. She got us a reservation for the “make a astromech” thing but hadn’t been able to lock down the “make a lightsaber” thing. That’s going to stink because he was looking forward to it. He wanted to make a Sith blade to see if Vader would take him on as an apprentice. This morning he asked if he could meet Wall-E, does that little dude still roll around? I think we have the park hopper and the genie and anything else you could waste money on.
Ha! We’re flying back around noon on Thursday because I told my friend who owns a bar and is an el Tri fan that I’d be there to watch us win for the first time.
