Not Disney but went to legoland this past weekend. Kids ages 5 and 2. Solid 4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I'm also spoiled a but we went on pretty dead days (Sunday and Monday). So being in a near-empty theme park was a pretty new experience. I don't know how my mind would change if we had to wait longer for some of the rides but given our overall experience I'd say the place is pretty cool. My main gripe is more on getting people in and out of rides. Master of Flight is their main attraction and only thing we waited for...but I noticed there's a lot of dead time even once you are in your seat and waiting for it to start. Stuff like that where they could do a better job of flow. Granted I'm sure they were running on a small staff too. Hotel is fun and part of the attraction. I actually REALLY like the layout of the rooms where it's a U shape with the kids sleeping area on one side of the room and the parent sleeping area on the other. There's no door but they feel like separate areas. Not a fancy hotel and really geared to just being able to take care of kids but for what it is, I think it works. The water park is a good feature. It's small but it has enough for kids of varying ages. Only complaint here is that its actually at the very back of the theme park so if you want to JUST do the water park, you still have to walk the entire theme park first. There's no water park only entrance or parking. Maybe this is somewhat good since the water park then doesn't get as crowded but just wish there was a way to get there without that walk. Their roller coasters kinda suck though. one of them legit hurt to be on as it had 2 or 3 really sudden stops where your safety bar is thus thrust into your stomach. One coaster looked cool but 5 year old wasnt tall enough for it so we didnt try it. Surprisingly not a ton to do for a 2 year old other than the Peppa Pig park which we didnt go to. Just thought there might be more little kid stuff but the sweet spot is really probably 7-12.
Do they have huge Lego sets all over the place? I went to the OG one in Denmark as a little kid and all I remember was how huge those layouts were. It was amazing. There was a working canal, airport, railroad, etc.
You mean models? Yes everywhere and that’s not counting miniland USA which are enormous models of several cities including NYC and DC and then Florida destinations like Daytona, NASA, st Augustine, Miami Beach. It’s cool as hell. also the big store is amazing. It’s bigger than the one at Disney springs
Agreed - Legoland is geared towards that age group. It's neat, and the hotel is pretty cool too. But since almost all the attractions are outdoors, every rainstorm pretty much shuts down the park - and during the summer months that's a daily occurrence.
Didn’t think of that. But it was like $30 to upgrade our tickets to annual passes so now I’m an annual pass holder. I didn’t go to any of the shows/4d movie stuff though. also given how little there is to do for 2 year olds I’m surprised that technically you need to pay for them. “Under 2” is free. Kinda ridiculous.
I don’t have kids My brother is competing in special Olympics games there next week so have many questions of what to do there. Hopefully someone can help but doubt many go without kids Kinda wanna go to Gatorama but no idea how far away it is
Anyone been to Disneyland lately? If so, how is it? From what my wife has said, Disneworld is back to basically pre-Covid. Disneyland the same? My daughter is pretty set on our summer vacation being Disneyland bc she wants to see Maleficent. Idk if she's even there or how it works. She finally got to hug Elsa a few weeks ago so Maleficent is next, I guess.
Pretty sure it’s just called US games and he’s been absolutely hooked up. In Orlando Jersey Mike’s an enormous sponsor and he got a fuck ton of apparel from other sponsors I’m paying a lot but couldn’t care less.
Drink around Epcot. Trader Sam’s at the Polynesian Jelly rolls piano bar at boardwalk. You’re welcome.
pretty sure maleficent isn't around unless it's halloween time in the parks/the oogie boogie bash at DCA
Well shit. I thought she was at Disneyland at the Sleeping Beauty castle but maybe not. I may just call Disney and see if anyone knows.
if she does it's random and sporadic disneyland, at least pre-covid, never really had formal meet n greets the characters there just kind of roam around
They had some, my son had ones with Captain America and Spider-Man. But it's mostly characters wandering around. Disneyland app will now tell you who is out and where they are.
I think the marvel ones are different mainly bc they built actually greeting spaces whereas fantasyland doesn’t have that luxury
In the past couple weeks, the Marvel characters have finally been roaming Avengers Campus doing photo ops and autographs. Previously, they would just hang on the roof of the Avengers HQ building (which will eventually be an Avengers ride). Before Avengers Campus opened, there were designated meet and greets in Hollywood Land, but those are gone. Chip and Dale had taken up where Captain America used to be when I went last week. Spider-man posts up for photos at a designated spot after his stunt show. There's a Mirabel from Encanto meet and greet on the other side of DCA, and of course that gets huge lines.
Going to Disneyland for 2 days and California Adventure for 1 day coming up in about 3 weeks. I've bought tickets and Genie+ and reserved my days. 2 adults, 12 year old boy, 21 year old girl. Anything I need to be doing in advance now that I've done that? Or just show up and have a good time? Sorry for posting in the "Disney World" thread but figure this may be a good place to ask.
Rise in Disneyland and then Radiator Spring Racers & WEB Slingers are the Individual Lightning Lanes out there as long as you do 1 of RSR or WEB at rope drop, you probably won't need to buy them the other one just go on toward the end of the park closing (I would highly recommend doing Cars land/RSR at night) also you're going midweek so park after fireworks/near close should empty out pretty nicely for you
Cars Land is phenomenal at night. If you do Radiator Springs early with the fam and want to do it again later and are comfortable with it, you can do the single rider lane. They’ll still at least try to get 2 of you in the same car if possible if they see you’re in the same party.
She’s at California Adventure, just west of the Little Mermaid and Goofy’s Sky School rides. There’s a couple places right there to get beer while waiting also.
Appreciate it. Wife and daughter go to Disneyworld about once a month. Miraelbel and Maleficent are two of her favorites and they aren't there so now she's pushing for a Disneyland trip lol. From what I'm reading, seems like Maleficent is only at the Sleeping Beauty castle in October which is perfect bc it'll be cooler and it's her bday.
I was hammered last night and didn't get this but pretty sure he is. Know ESPN is televising a little bit of it.
Taking my family of 5 to WDW next month. What's the cheapest way to get from the airport to the resort? How much does the typical Uber cost?
cheapest would be a shared mears shuttle. Imo just pay for the Uber when you have a family that size.
Where is the best place to stay at/near Disneyland? Going in October for a Saturday/Sunday before a work conference. Will have a 7 and 5 year old with me.
If you’re trying to stay at Disneyland, grand Californian is really the only option Howard Johnson, Hilton, or the Marriott are nice for cheaper close options courtyard is more expensive but the best if you don’t stay at GC
When we go, staying close is our top priority. Park Vue Inn is the closest hotel to main entrance and fairly clean (slightly dated). They also have bunk beds for the kiddos (can get 2 queens + bunk room also) which is really helpful for them getting good sleep. Pool is crap if you care about that though. We always skip pool time since were paying a shitload of money to be inside Disneyland. Desert Inn & Suites is also across the road and cheap but you get what you pay for. When we go to DL we are only paying for a bed as were at the park from open to close (maybe a nap if kids are being assholes). Grand Californian is amazing if you want to splurge. Get a downtown Disney view room, theyre pretty cool. We’ve stayed there a couple times but usually have a hard time justifying the cost when we never hang out in hotel. Pool is good there but there are better ones at other non-Disney hotels. If I were you I’d look at Park Vue Inn unless you want some pool time mixed in or are wanting to YOLO it at the GC. Either way, have a great time. 5 and 7 are literally the perfect ages for a DL trip.
