Now that I’ve been on it twice I probably won’t fuck with it for a while if I go to either park heard the new avengers campus is the same way at disneyland
the alternative is it has a 6 hour wait and the line goes through the entire park, which is not something park ops can have
avengers campus is pointless until the e ticket opens the spider man ride is basically toy story midway mania
I get that but still hate it. I also think they care more about not wanting people in line for an extended period of time where they can't spend money on food/drink/etc. Extended lines throughout the parks didn't seem to bother them with covid / physical distancing. I've been lucky with my virtual queue experience between WDW and Universal but it's always a nerve wracking time leading up to it. Are there any rumors for what the e-ticket ride is going to be yet?
the concept was an avengers ride where you are put into the middle of a battle https://blogmickey.com/2019/10/more...ction-coming-to-avengers-campus-marvel-lands/
yeah I saw that which makes it more insane to me that it seems to be harder to ride than rise is anything new I guess but I’d much rather ride rise
Went over to my parents this afternoon. We've been trying to find anywhwre to stay this summer for a long weekend with the kids on the beach but no luck. They got us rooms at the dolphin fourth of July weekend. We aren't going to the big parks, but might do water park. How is this hotel? Was spoiled earlier this year when Disney upgraded us to Grand Floridian. Edit - mainly asking about pool situation
Bought 150 Grand Floridian points resale a few months back. Have our first stay in August. If you’re looking at resale, I highly recommend tracking monthly ROFR prices to get an understanding of how cheap you can go on a contract before Disney starts buying them back themselves.
Starting to get my head around a California trip for the fam next summer. We're east coast. Is 3 days ideal for Disneyland? Or 4? Plan is to do Disneyland, make our way up to Yosemite, and finish off in San Francisco area for 10-14 days. Seems like most sites are saying Disneyland hotels are overrated and just stay at one of the regular places right outside the gates.
No more than 3 imo Only two parks and they’re really not that big. Maybe 2 at the main park and one at California adventure. And yeah the hotels are just ok
Modsquader this is a good link showing current DVC room availability by date and resort. https://tools.dvcvacations.com/points-calculator I’m pretty sure it’s an API connection from the actual DVC booking site, but people on message boards swear it’s not totally real time. Either way, it’s a solid way to get a decent idea of availability for a non-owner. This site keeps track of resale ROFR trends by month…https://www.dvcresalemarket.com/blog/dvc-right-of-first-refusal-report-rofr-may-21-report/ And this (extensive) link goes through historical availability of resort+room type+seasonality combinations to get an understanding of what’s available on property at 11 months vs. 6. https://www.disboards.com/threads/p...-bd-charts-september-2019-2-bd-added.3689931/ The Disboards forum in general is an awesome resource for DVC resale. Though the folks on there are predictably psychos.
Did you buy through DVCresalemarket? https://www.dvcresalemarket.com Did you work with an agent there? How long did it take you to close? Trying to see what might pass ROFR at GF. Looks like a 60pt contact passed in May for $160/pt, meanwhile a 160pts went for $185. I have an excel sheet going with a bunch of different hypothetical trips and stays. Used a week in early May as a benchmark for all resorts. 1 week in non dvc in 2022 is $5200 for GF. That same studio in pts is $898 for DVC w/o factoring buy in cost of ~27K for 150pts. So dividing that out amongst deed length it's ~$600. $1,500 for a weeks stay is a steal. Couldn't even stay at all star music for that I don't think.
Went to Avengers Campus yesterday. Had already reserved a ticket before California said June 15 was the re-opening, so yesterday was 100% capacity and hot as shit. Spider-Man ride is a bunch of fun (got lucky and got in on the queue at the noon for a 4:00 boarding), Guardians ride has already been there a couple years. Characters all over the place and doing fight sequences. Pym kitchen and brewery was a thumbs up.
Yes, I used DVCresalemarket.com. Marissa Vallotton was our agent. The whole process took about 60 days from accepted offer to our DVC account being made and funded with points. Booked our first trip that same day. One thing to keep in mind is that contracts with less points are generally more expensive on a per point basis because they have a bit more flexibility and more demand. Vice versa is also true. Not as many people in-market for 300 point contracts as there are for 50 point contracts. In terms of cost-savings, someone on Disboards actually put together an extensive math model showing how many stays it takes to “break-even” vs full fare hotel stays. I think for my particular contract, it basically said we would need to visit Disney twice every five years for the contract to “pay for itself”, and that’s assuming I let it expire in 40 years and never recoup any funds in resale. Is it the best financial instrument or investment? Definitely not. But if you go to Disney somewhat often, it makes way more sense than paying rack rates.
Familiar with Marissa. She does the youtube videos with Pete Warner. Very attractive. I hear you on the investment. We've been told we are crazy for considering it, but with us starting a family I think we will get incredible use out of it over the next 20 years. Then we can evaluate the next 23 years of the contract later on. I'll keep you posted on where we go with it over the next few months.
Does it make sense for Florida residents to pursue DVC? We are planning on becoming annual passholders once they open the option up again.
Ended up just hanging in the pool and getting a burger from the pool bar. Watched fireworks from bkqckojy Dolphin pool is nice, but this place is overrun with some dance competition and kids beauty pageant weirdos I'm definitely not a huge Disney person, only here because of kids, but this hotel feels nothing like being at Disney. Even the Mickey waffles this morning weren't the same Going to try to sneak into yacht club pool next door with my 6 year old after lunch
That’s the hardest pool to sneak into in all of Disney. Good luck. also, the dolphin, technically isn’t Disney. It’s owned by Marriott.
Yeah, we are only here because of Marriott points. It's just weird being smack dab in the middle but doesn't feel like it.
We've always just done three days with park hopper passes so we can go back and forth if we want Camelot Inn is just across the street from the main entrance and has been our go-to lodging for years
They were scanning cards and magic bands, I told them I just wanted to show my kid the pool and asked if I could order a drink. She let us in. Hung out for a few hours.
Didn't need one. Got a drink. Kid hopped in. Expected to get thrown out within a few minutes. There were so many people coming in she definitely forgot in 2 mins. I went in for a while then got another drink. Just had our stuff thrown on a chair. When it was time to go we sat in the sun for a few then walked out the other exit lol Rode the dreamliner over to Hollywoof studios this morning then rode it back. Pretty cool
Yikes, that was formally unheard of at a Disney park. Totally embarrassing for them, but hey, let's keep raising those prices!
Disney like every other service industry is dealing with massive labor shortages, but Chapek has also gone on record stating that he is pulling resources away from the Park experience.
This part is their own doing. They haven’t reached back out to all CMs to return. They brought back the college program first bc they are cheaper labor.
Looking at going next December. We did it last December and stayed at GF. Was thinking maybe Poly this time. Is it worth the extra money to stay there versus one of the moderate resorts? We spent very little time in room.
I know this is the Disney thread, but has anyone stayed at Sapphire Falls at Universal? Going to see Bert Kreischer at the Hard Rock in October and was thinking of staying at one of the Universal properties just to make transportation easier. Sapphire Falls seems to be a decent price and the pool looks nice. Gonna do 2 nights, so the pool and proximity to restaurants/bars/entertainment at night are the biggest factors.
