I'd love to see the market research that went into this decision. Also, how the fuck has nobody done a pokemon land yet?
It’s not. Don’t put stock into that post. A bunch of people just guessed things on twitter and no one knows.
Pokemon is weird. I saw Lego is finally getting them after the dogshit that is the MEGA building sets. I hate those fucking things with a passion.
Gotta think it's gonna be a dark ride with a bunch of animatronics I guess you just recreate Hill Valley and put whatever the ride is in the clock tower? What do you even do there, a themed Test Track-like ride in a Delorean?
There's nowhere near enough to do a back to the future "Land" unless that land is just the street with the clock tower and it takes up a very small area of the park with one ride in the tower and a quick service restaurant in the diner.
OK, leaning on this thread for wisdom. Took my daughter for the first time last year and of course she loved it. We were thinking about braving the heat and going again in August with the deals they’re running for Florida residents on hotels (she won’t let us go anywhere but Art of Animation). Do you think there will be any subsequent deals on park tickets for that time frame as well? I know they’re running the 4 days for 240/3 days for 180 deal right now, but that has to be used by May 23 and I don’t see anything beyond that.
And one bonus question, I saw that Costco is apparently going to offer these for Disney Land, but I assume nothing similar will be offered for DW?
yea, can't count on that at all. I don't think I have ever seen disney tix at costco/sams.bjs etc. Sams does sell disney gift cards for like 10% off. If you are really looking to pinch every penny you can buy some of those and use them to buy your park tix.
The virtual queue stuff is a nightmare. They went from having set times to now it will be random. The bigger issue though is there is not a way to link friends and family tickets so that you can all be in the same virtual queue group. I had to call to unlink my friend’s tickets and just create a fake name on my profile and link them there. And now I have to give my friends my email and password so they can login to my account to see their tickets. This is also not possible if you have an AP.
Going to universal for the first time in a few weeks. What are the food recs - both grabbing a quick bite and sit down meals. Any don’t miss places?
Studios quick service: Central Park Crepe or Today Cafe Studios sit down: Lombards or Finnegans IOA quick service: Croissant Moon or Thunder Falls IOA sit down: Confisco or Mythos
Also going in a few weeks. Say what’s up if you see me. 6’7 former NBA player should be easy to spot.
The food isn't anything spectacular but I think it's worth eating at Three Broomsticks or The Leaky Cauldron just for the experience, especially if this is your first time. Also, the earl grey and lavender ice cream at Florean Fetescue's is a must get for me.
Finally giving the ride some updates, good. Unfortunately this still won't shut up the people that hate riding Engineer seat
Took the kids to Magic Kingdom yesterday, followed by Animal Kingdom to finish off our Florida four pass run. Although warm, the weather was actually nice with a breeze, worked out really well. We did lighting lane passes and ended up on 9 rides, I was pleasantly surprised how much we got done in 10 hours. Had to compromise with the kids on two Mickey bubble wands, $75 for bubbles is insane.
Yep, I totally misread the price tag and thought they were $20 each. When it came up $75, I asked if this was the right price, my jaw dropped. 1 of every 3 kids under 8 has one, it's got to be a cash cow for Disney.
spent the last 3 days at Epic Universe Spoiler the lands are excellent, insanely themed the center spine (Celestial Park) is very bare and even though it's previews and lower crowds was almost always empty bc, as designed, everyone is in a land Stardust Racers is a great coaster Battle at the Ministry of Magic is a great ride Nintendo I had the lowest expectations for but that land is so god damn good, and it's very big, it's not like the hollywood one. The rides are just ok, but they are going to super family friendly regardless so that's fine Dark Universe I was kind of disappointed by, but that's also because Universal fans are very high on HHN and so I think they all overrate it, but it's still good and cool to see a whole land dedicated to universal monsters I don't have any personal ties to how to train your dragon so that was fine Biggest con by far, and it's not close, is that all food is done via mobile ordering in the app. Which is a good idea, but in practice was very poor. You can order ahead of time or there is a QR code at your table to scan and you put your table number in and they bring you your food. One issue was it took 41mins to get our food even though other people at our table got their food 20mins earlier. Another issue was (I have t-mobile) there is zero service in Toad's restaurant. So I placed the order walking into the land, sat down and went to put my table number in and nothing would load bc I had no service. I tried the universal wifi and it wouldn't connect. I went up to a team member and was told to walk around the land until I get service (even though someone could just take that table since im away from it). They didn't have a way of adding the table number to my order otherwise. When I was getting food in another spot, there was a brazilian family who couldn't download the app bc of the app store country/region issues and the team members just kept telling her to try to install the app again. Overall, it's still an absolute must visit for theme park fans. Universal is really trying something new with having hyper themed lands and very generic center spine so it's interesting to see how it will go.
I can't stress enough to see if one of those exist in your area or stopping by the orlando ones once you arrive. Can save an insane amount of money on merch purchases.
Reporting live from Magic Kingdom. Staying at Animal Kingdom for 2 nights. We embark on a 7-day cruise tomorrow on the Treasure. Our first cruise of any kind. I feel like the lightening lane is way more efficient than the old Genie +. We have cruised through everything today.
Enjoy! We are really excited. How long and where are you going? We came to Disney two years ago when our kids were 5 and 3. Our son (older) was terrified of most of the rides. Today he rode everything without hesitation and loved it all. Very proud of him. I rode Tron solo. Really fun. Still think I enjoy Guardians more, but the experience on the bike was unique, and the initial blast was awesome.
4 nights. Nassau and castaway but we aren’t getting off the ship in Nassau. tron is great but it’s biggest complaint is it’s just short. Some people complain about going outside from an immersion standpoint. But it’s a lot of fun
We are aboard the Treasure. Hard to put into perspective just how big this ship is. The kids club is amazing - wife and I are looking forward to enjoying the fruits of that. Already cruising through the food options and, damn, way better than expected.
Head to the palo front desk with $20 and ask if they can squeeze you and the wife into a palo brunch or dinner.
for sure. Just a fun time that gets all the kids super hyped up. Love how they make a big viewing area by having platforms that cover the pool
Sunny, mid 80s, with a perfect breeze. Drink in hand (at a reasonable price no less). Life is good. Have Coco theme dinner tonight.
