Oh if you are considering it whatsoever get the photo package. It’s cheaper if you preorder before you leave. Especially if you’re going to meet characters, do BBB, etc
Also cruises are great for unique autograph items. Autograph books are great for parks that you may fill up on multiple visits. But for a cruise it’s kinda cool to have a single momento. And these are both pretty cheap. The canvas is like $2 and you just need a sticker (or paint Mickey Mouse, whatever). The wooden letter was a few bucks and agin just added stickers. Those stickers we actually got on the ship. Left- fantasy 2023 Right- wish 2025
I know this is a disneyworld thread, but have a disneyland question. Wife and I(and my mom) are taking our 6 year old daughter to disneyland in a month(for 2 days) for the 1st time. Is it worth it to go to California Adventure the 2nd day instead of 2 full days at DL? Doing Lightning Lane passes both days. I haven't been to disneyland in ~30 years(I was 12). Daughter is 48" tall so it looks like she can ride all of the rides at both places.
Most of the rides at CAP that have height requirements is 40” so just depends on what you want to do. It’s fun, plenty to do. If you park hop maybe just do 1.5 days in Disneyland but at least walk over to CAP to do a couple of key things. The parks are literally next to each other.
We're taking our first Disney Cruise in June, 4 night (my daughter's first cruise so didn't want to go too long if she hates it). On the Wish - anything I need to know, or should do? My wife signed up for the fish extender and has been buying stuff, not sure what else I need to look for.
My posts on this page are about my recent Wish cruise. So check those out. Also if your wife is on the fish extender list then that means she’s in the Facebook group for the sailing which is a barrage of information including people talking about signing up for extras you might be interested in such as adult dining reservations.
No park hopper I’m assuming so I’d bet you will finish most of the California Adventure stuff by no later than 2 pm. Without park hopper that’s going to some repeating of things and the best stuff isn’t necessarily kid focused, depending on the kid.
Only been there once but my suggestion would be to go one full day DL then a park hop day between the two. Are you staying on property?
If you like good food, find out which night is pirate night on your cruise Facebook group, and go to dining services as soon as you board and get a Palo steakhouse reservation for that night. Extra charge but the dinner is at good
Related. Pirate night is fun and it’s worth going to Walmart or whatever and getting cheap pirate accessories. Inflatable swords are easy to pack. Get a couple of eye patches for the kids. Nothing crazy but it’s fun. Some people will be going all out on this.
I have a video of my 8 year old son having the time of his life on Pirate night, just pure unadulterated joy and I watch it when I’m feeling blue because it makes me so happy.
Funny moment. My kids 5/8 were meeting Daisy and the crew member with her asked my kids which pirate crew they were a part of (Mickey or Hook) and my 5 year old who was basically in character all night took his sword and pointed it at him. Daisy ran for cover.
Speaking of fun character interactions. Next time you go to Hollywood studios, have one of your kids wear a costume with a cape to go see Edna mode. Holy shit did that turn from a standard photo opp to a hilarious 5 min exchange where my wife was forced to stand in the corner because the 4 year old’s darth Vader shirt had a cape attached.
Pulled this back when they were first released. Had no idea it was even valuable. eBay has them for maybe 600-700 with a 10 rating. So just got mine graded.
Just found out that there's a chance the family might go out to Disneyland at the beginning of August. Mrs. Scorpio and I think it's funny that our kids would get to go to Disneyland before Disney World despite only living an hour and a half away from the latter.
I've never really had a desire to go, especially since all of the Disney adults who are REALLY into Disney always give it such backhanded compliments. We'd only be going bc Mrs. Scorpio might be going to a conference there and her company would be footing most of the bill.
I mean it is a great experience, I would not trust Disney adults to be rational human beings. I was just saying if you lived closer to Disney World that is the obvious choice but you will have a wonderful time at Disneyland and DCA if you come over yonder
A DL advantage I don’t see brought up much is the time zone. That 6AM alarm clock feels like 8AM to my central time zone body, makes rope dropping a breeze.
looking at the videos of the lines of people already at Epic in line at 7am is crazy. I don't even get how people would think that's going to be enjoyable to be in that type of crowd
When that 300 minute wait was posted here I said to my wife if I was forced to pick between waiting 300 minutes for literally any ride in the world or lighting $100 on fire I’m not hesitating to burn that money.
Went to Diagon Alley on opening day in 2014. Never again. Wife's fam planned a trip and I didn't keep up with parks back then so I had no idea it was opening day. We waited on gringotts all day the first day. 7 hours due to breakdowns. Was not smart. I'm older and smarter now....well older for sure.
Luckily whenever we go to epic no one in our family has been into Harry Potter so that at least cuts off the most crowded area. Still not interested in going unless a grandparent splurges on VIP oldest is 8 though so I know he will want to go to Mario world and I wouldn’t want to wait too incredibly long.
I probably won’t be back for quite some time, likely when they add Epic to annual passes, whenever that may be
That’s why I wanted to hit the preview. Got to do everything but dragon riders and Yoshi, no shows and didn’t get to try that pizza though. Also my kids didn’t get to go but they also don’t know it exists even if my son got a Mario and my daughter got a Princess Peach from there.
that makes more sense why wait times were so low. They were lower than during the previews. I just assumed it was bec everyone was there without kids and were more interested in walking around and filming and streaming instead of getting on rides.
Hogsmeade opened at IOA when I was in grad school at UCF. There were 2 girls in my program who insisted on waiting until opening day to go despite having the option to get in for soft openings with their annual passes. It took them 6 hours just to get in the park. Meanwhile, my gf (now wife) and I had already gone through it on 3 separate occasions during soft openings and got to experience everything multiple times over.
