Taking the family to the OG universal parks in a few weeks. Fucking eh universal got as expensive as Disney. And the express pass is even worse.
thats why you stay at one of the prem resorts. Staying at Royal Pacific even for just a night is game changer since you get free unlimited EP for check-in and checkout day.
If you're getting the express passes check the rates even if you're not staying there. One night at RP was 1/3 of the cost of the single use express passes for my family when I went last month. Book cheapest room, check in, get passes, go to your marriot.
Yea. I thought about this. Reality is though that both kids are too small for any of the coasters. So it’s not worth it regardless. looking again and questioning the decision period. 2 year old can’t ride anything. Might have to go back to the mouse
Day 2 wait times still don't seem terrible even battle is only 90mins. Are they really capping tickets or did most of the early adopters already go during previews and everyone else is waiting bec they feared the parks would be slammed with people. I guess this weekend will be the big test.
afb would appreciate your thoughts here because right now im leaning towards bailing on this plan and maybe going to sea world or just back to disney.
They are definitely capped and it was “sold out” but I think where the counting goes wrong is non-AP people could only buy a 3 day ticket and it gives you 1 epic day and they didn’t make people pick that day ahead of time. So I think that messed up the count.
Yeah I'm surprised my kids (7 and almost 4) rode as much as they did when we went. I think the only one we rode twice was flight of the hippogriff. And then pteranodon flyers doesn't even take express pass. I'm probably with you on holding off with a two year old. My youngest was just barely tall enough to do the rides he was down for.
Universal is definitely teen and up forward. Unless yall just wanna rider swap so you can do stuff, there ain’t anything for a 2 year old
I figured we'd spend most of our time in seusland, but even that had a height limit. Yea, back to the mouse/sea world it is. Appreciate you confirming my thoughts.
honestly for the stuff for little kids at Universal I've never found the waits to be unbearable especially compared to Disney. SO even without EP I think you could do the Suess, Minions ( I think Villaincon is practically walk on whenever I go), Dreamworks etc. If you're going to wait in lines at Disney (assuming you aren't going to shell out a arm and a leg trying to LL a bunch of stuff) I don't see the difference.
Man I’m fighting the urge to just load the family in car and drive up there. Looking at those wait times on a Saturday of a major holiday weekend is ridiculous. Even Battle is showing less than an hour
Went to islands tonight and Jesus Christ the stark difference in crowds is staggering Idk how long the crowds will stay low at epic but it’s hard to not recommend going sooner than later
her. Shame she wasn’t sitting in front so that whataburger shirt got soaked. She would have enjoyed the ride more.
Meanwhile lilo and stitch is out setting memorial day records family loved it. Sold out theater today and 70% had some sort of stitch apparel on (raised hand)
Saw it today and really liked it. Probably the first live action remake that improved on the original. Mainly bc the original was a storytelling mess.
This one was always going to be hard to screw up. But looks like they finally nailed one. Disney hasn’t had a hit movie in a minute. About time.
My mind splits that out to different areas. inside out is Pixar Deadpool is marvel lilo and stitch is straight Disney.
Anyone heard about Disney Perks? Just heard it briefly mentioned in a pod. Sounds like typical CC or cell carrier perks for D+ members (free DoorDash, discounted Lyft, etc.). They mentioned stuff innoark as well like discounted genie/food.
My son is too insane for a movie yet but I did see a ton of families leaving last week when I was going in to see dead reckoning. that’s my contribution.
On the icon of the seas. Ship is incredible, but in terms of kids activities, it doesn’t come close to DCL. Having a casino is nice though.
Anyone have any good insight on where to stay off site near WDW? We've always stayed on site but looking to potentially stay off site since we have free parking with AP now. Looked at some condos on the east side of I-4 but not familiar with the areas. Youngest is about to hit 3 so that means the "Sleeps 4" rooms are no longer available to us. Going to miss the value that POP is.
There’s some Marriott time shares that are like 5 min away that always have deals on 2 bedrooms. If you are willing to sit through a timeshare pitch you can get some pretty insane deals. also Dave’s DVC rental
Just beware of the cons of staying off site more than the parking costs. Theres a lot to be said to driving on site than having to get on 192 or i4 with the rest of the real world. Parking at Disney Resorts is also free so don’t accidentally go to an offsite place where you end up paying it back in resort parking. Whether or not you want a pool day also a factor.
Depends on time of day. It’s made worse that being in traffic after a full theme park day feels even worse.
Just finalized my trip in July. Going to Disneyland for 5 days. Doing a breakfast at goofy’s kitchen and then the dessert party for world of color.
Always stayed at the Marriot World Center when I was a kid. They've got a full on water park now. Why are the "sleeps 4" rooms no longer available? Bring an air mattress or request a cot.
can’t book a room if your party shows 2 adults and 3 kids 3 or older. Can only book rooms that say sleeps 5 or higher
Just say you have 2 kids imo. There's also lots of Airbnbs in the Celebration area. A lot more space and probably costs about the same or less as an on property room. I'd honestly do that over piling 5 people in a 250 sq ft room.
Won’t there be some unintended consequences for WDW on this? Less people are going to sign up for sure. And if resales are so much cheaper demand will fall even more unless they take benefits away from resales even further.
