They are all about the same cost if you do them on property. And to be honest, they are overpriced. If money is that tight, do a couple things, get the disney visa. (Gets you 10% off dining), scour Costco/BJs/Target for sales on disney gift cards. Can often find deals where you can get a $100 gift card for $95. Combine that wish cash back on a credit card, and you can save 5-7% on every dollar spent. For some people, that makes all the difference. Another option is looking at some of the hotels in the lake buena vista area. A few of them have deals with disney that allow them to do character breakfasts. While the costumes are "legit" I don't know if the people in them are disney cast members or hired by the hotel. IMO that could make all the difference in the world between a good experience and a bad one.
Would places like Be Our guest, Royal Table, Akersus not be character meals? They all do dinners right? I've actually never done a character dinner myself, just lunches and breakfasts.
Be our Guest does not count. The only thing that happens is that Beast angrily walks through the dining room. Royal Table is character dining. I just always forget about it because I don't have girls. Akersus is closed now.
My younger one is a girl so I’ll hit that one day but I’ve only been to Chef Mickeys for breakfast (my son is obsessed with the monorail so this was perfect).
Akershus is closed? I ate there last year and just made reservations for our end of October trip coming up.
It's a disney princess character meal at epcot. If you don't have girls though I could see you missing it.
I haven't slept right in about 6 months. Running a law firm is fucking exhausting. I've even passed a lot of the disney planning off to the wife because I just don't have the time. Almost all of them are exactly the same outside of a couple items that are themed to that restaurant. This is by far the best one both for the character interactions AND the food. However, it is by far the most expensive. They also don't let kids eat free. It's honestly bull shit. My then 2 year old is beyond a picky eater. Maybe a waffle with peanut butter on a good day at a breakfast restaurant. Other than that we get him a fruit bowl. We always start with the real food hoping he eats, and then default to fruit when that fails. At toppolino they said he'd be charged the full kid price for one mickey waffle and some peanut butter. We said forget it and got the side of fruit which he ate.
One of my favorite places to eat on the property is the Roundup Rodeo BBQ....man that place just hits....
I ate there shortly after it opened and, other than the biscuits, it was a huge letdown. Maybe they have hit their stride and it’s worth another shot down the road.
We had this lined up for our trip but my sister is on some Disney facebook group and there were a ton of people on there shitting on it, enough that we switched gears and are going to do the 50's diner instead.
been there twice in the last few months and its been very good.....those biscuits and mac and cheese are delicious
We will be with my parents I thought they would get a kick out of it. I was doing the fantasmic dining package so it was mostly between there and Brown Derby. Maybe I should stitch it to Brown Derby though but I was a little worried cause a couple of the kids are really picky eaters.
Should do Sci-Fi drive in for a unique experience. The burgers and milkshakes are solid (not great) but the whole vibe is awesome.
We ate there last time and it was cool, only complaint was it's pretty legit dark in there. Had to old man it with the cell phone flashlight to see the menu.
Looks like I might be getting that post hurricane clearness right in time for mickeys Halloween this Friday.
Was down last Wednesday to Sunday. Did a day at magic kingdom and a day at Hollywood studios. Did the Halloween party in between. It was a lot and my kids are too young for the late night shit but we had fun. We did Cinderella's royal table and just happened to be there during the fireworks. Had no idea you could see them so well and they let kids watch from the window. Best Disney experience we've ever had and a top dad moment so far.
Might make the best of a bad situation and hit a resort if the power goes out. Did Port Orleans for the hurricane in like 2017 but I’ve got two little kids now.
They allow dogs during a storm. It's honestly the best place to ride out a hurricane. you have to call.
I remember having to call last time. Told them our power was out and they booked it right up (of course that was after we rode out the actual storm at home).
Port Orleans was very fun. My wife had to work that Friday and I slammed frozen drinks at the pool bar all day and went to Epcot in the evening. I don’t drink and have a 1 and 2 year old now so it may be a little different this time.
yup. They shift from tourist attraction to disaster relief pretty quickly. They want people calling in and asking for help rather than letting anyone book online. They also drastically reduce the prices.
WDW is really pushing into the gross territory. Not sure I’m headed back anytime soon. And I’m an out of state former pass holder so it isn’t like I don’t love the place.
damn so Disney wants you to stay at their top resorts then shell out a few extra hundred bucks to get limited express pass where as Universal gives you free Express pass when you stay at their top resort lol. They are so out of touch with the consumer
How much do those private tours cost? I have a group of 10 going in 10 days, it probably be cheaper to just do that.
depends on the season. Worth a call if you have a group of 10 though. They also do discounts for DVC. I'd guess right now it's $500 per hours with a 7 hour minimum.
Yea, we aren't doing either but was just thinking out loud if you have a big group you could just do the private tour and still come out ahead.
