they've been doing it since like 2017 but people just wanted to blame Chapek and not realize that it's just capitalism and not the ceo they are even upcharging DVC people now
ultimately I think that’s kind of the plan. Not to entirely price people out but to make the fast pass experience so expensive that less people use them. Which ironically would be better for everyone overall. If only 5% of people can afford lightning lanes then there’ll be less people in that line and the stand by line would move much faster as well. Problem is they’ve already established a culture of everybody gets some lightning lanes/fast passes, so I’m not sure how they shift that culture without pissing off a lot of people.
A couple years ago we did the LegoLand $100 fast pass. Walked onto every ride, free drinks, discounted food, made it a great time. In saying that when we went the only ride with a line longer than 15 minutes was Emmitt’s flying couch thing. The VIP/backstage tour for universal last year was super cool. I think it was $120 more than a standard ticket. Again, walk right onto each ride, free drinks/meals, the backlot tour and walking around on the sets was really cool. And if you don’t want to follow the group you don’t have to, if you just want to ride MarioKart 40 times you can do that. It was a lot of fun.
I really like legoland. Kids love it. It was a great one time annual pass. Their park more than any other does a great job of keeping kids busy. Tons of no-line play areas and things to climb. Water park is fine. Halloween party was really fun (and no extra cost). They have fireworks and a drone show too. The hotel is way overpriced but the kids thought it was the coolest place in the world. that said i thought $110 for a fast pass at a park where I’ve never experienced a line longer than like 25 minutes is just an interesting comparison.
Heading to Disney on Saturday (through Friday) with my parents, sister, BIL, step-nephew, niece, and nephew. Should be a decent time, though who knows with that group. Hilariously, I emailed my sister and Mom (the planners of their group) about a bunch of different items back in May. Followed up that email in mid-July. Sister sent me a text last night asking me if I had Genie+ and suggesting some of the restaurants she hopes to get dining reservations at for the party of 8 of us. Amazing.
Oh for sure. But I am just going to go and enjoy myself and see how things play out. If nothing else, I will end up at Epcot and enjoy food and drink from around the world. I do hate that we are going too early to see the holiday overlay at Living with the Land. Had no idea that was a thing until last year and thought it was amazing (Living with the Land is one of my favorite rides anyways).
You might get lucky. Im here now and crowds are pretty light. Tusker House on Monday was like 1/4 full, Akershus breakfast yesterday was like 1/2 full. Longest wait so far was at L'Artisan Des Glaces for that stuffed brioche ice cream deal, first time having it some how and it lived up to the hype, thing was incredible. Oh and that wait was still only like 20 minutes.
No, they didn't. Apparently for date based tickets it's obviously not necessary but for other tickets, like AP, you still have to most days.
I’m very mad I’m stuck working right now, it couldn’t be nicer out. May be another food and wine night
I stayed at Poly last week, decent resort, but man it feels its age in places. Ohana noodles are wildly over rated, decent, but largely forgetable. Ohana wings were a bit better, but not much better than fine.
I stand by my statement. We just did the take out from Tambu Lounge and ate by the pool (which was great).
I am the OG ohana hater day 1 ohana hater I tried telling people and they will come around eventually
Delightful day at blizzard beach. Slightly chilly at times but doesn’t matter when literally nothing had a line. My 7 year old being brave enough for summit plummet when I didn’t do stuff like that until I was at least in high school.
Made the move again last night so my wife could see 98 degrees. I was changing my daughter’s diaper but looked like it was hitting for my wife and son.
The wife, kids, and I were going to go to Destin for Thanksgiving week but will now be going to Orlando due to weather concerns. I would love any quick tips/tricks from you guys for WDW and Hollywood Studios as those are the planned park visits. Is it worth another $1000 to go to Universal? I haven't been to Orlando in 20 years.
I wish we had skipped it on our trip this year because the kids were a little too young for the bigger rides. My nephew is 7 and rode everything at Disney but didn't do a lot of the universal rides to give you an idea. If your kids will do all the bigger rides and especially if they are into Harry Potter then I would say it's worth it.
My kids are 12 and 15, we may take a break from the Disney passes next year and go to Universal instead. We have had the Disney annuals for the past 3 years, I think they are ready for the roller coasters at Universal.
if they can do/like big boy rollercoasters then yes you should go to universal if not, then i'd probably skip it for that cost
Planning on heading out there next March. Most likely looking at Port Orleans or Caribbean Beach as they look like decent mid price options. Also possibly just doing Allstar movies as not sure if kids would like that better. 7 and 9. General plan would be checking in late Monday night. Magic Kingdom all day Tuesday. Hang at pool/whatever Wednesday. Magic kingdom Thursday and drive to Tampa Thursday evening. Any thoughts or recommendations on that?
I don't think I'd recommend two days at MK unless you really want to do that. Would probably recommend MK + HS/Epcot. Also of the three options you listed, if you do HS/Epcot, go with Caribbean beach for the Skyliner access.
If price difference doesn’t bother you, go to a moderate resort. Easier transportation options. Better pools with slides. Port Orleans I like a lot. would recommend HS for second day especially if they have any Star Wars interest.
Sort of debating about MK vs HS for second day but not sure. Kids don’t have any Star Wars interest. Also concerned will be hot/crowded and not sure we have the ability to be super organized/bust ass through all the park in 1 day
Star Wars rides are awesome as hell regardless of liking the movies. Your 6 and maybe 8 y/o won’t be tall enough to go on Velocicoaster and Hulk. But you could definitely do both parks in the same day. Hogwarts Express is a simply fantastic way to park hop.
Epcot is the last of the 4 parks I would take the small kids, GOG is the best ride at Disney, buts really all that's there for them....now as an adult I love Epcot
Frozen and Remy. My kid also has to do Nemo every time we go but that might be specific to him. Also those god damn drums and those god damn trains.
