So our guy's dead because a bullet misses a bleach bottle, and this fuck Carcetti gets to be the mayor behind the stupidity. I fucking love this town. I do.
Omar had a squad. I mean, he had this one hoe pulling guns out her pussy, unc. The shit was unseemly, man.
Seasons ranked in order.... 3, 4, 1, 2, 5 Aside from differences on which was 2nd best season (between 4 and 1) i'd be shocked to hear a convincing argument of a different order.
y'all need to ease up off nay. not his fault he came from the mailman knocking his mom up. no way he was bay's kid
3 and 4 are both top tier seasons of television there's no wrong answer. for me 3 4 1 5 2 just because i hated the mcnulty marine pd story and ziggy. never got any emotional investment into any of the season 2 characters. not saying i really connected with the news characters in 5 but I enjoyed the kids' stories
2 is important in establishing that it's not just a problem with black people in the hood, it extends to white people, other countries, etc
Just finished the series for the first time, incredible stuff. Hoping to do a rewatch but it'll probably have to wait a few months.
Randomly started a rewatch on Sunday. Already onto season 2, and still laughed when the wee bay gif scene comes up at the copy shop.
Namond's far from the worst. He's a typical kid with an attitude problem and a bad influence at home whose trying to be a normal kid while everyone in the streets expects to him to be the second coming of one of the toughest, most vicious guys around.
How come we never get any back story with Carver really? Maybe there's some I'm not remembering but I can't recall seeing any scenes of what his life's like outside work
I'm not sure we're talking about the same angle. I was talking about the actor and how he plays the role, not necessarily what the character represents. He annoyed the shit out of me every time I saw him on screen. Whether with the special-class kids or his little crew he stood out to me as annoying. Of course that's probably a testament to the skill of the actor if that was his intention.
Doing a rewatch w the gf who has never seen the show. God I love bodie. Landsman, Rawls, and Ziggy are all much more enjoyable once you know their characters. I laugh at so much of the shit they say, were as I used to just want them off my screen.
I remember thinking how much I didn't want to hear Landsman talking about jerking off and thinking about McNulty on the first watch. Upon the re-watch I realized just how gold that scene was...
Can never get over landsman's eating habits. I generally want to smother anyone who smacks and chomps anyway, but his fat sweaty ass just compounded it.
Landsman takes a full frontal vomit splash from dopesick, street walking Bubs in the interrogation room, dabs at it with wet paper towels in the men's room, and returns to complete his tour of duty in the same shirt. Definition of a city cop.
Jay's such a good character. Frustrating chain of command/company man at times, but moments of brilliance too.
Really liked older Bodie after the Barksdales were gone. Slim Charles is a personal favorite through the seasons too. Especially dropping cheese late and standing up for Prop Joe throughout 5 when Marlo was moving.
Who knew Ziggy was such a good driver? Nice of him to rob that bank with his dad. At least no European girls were killed this time.
Nothing really earth shattering but obviously liked how Carver changed from simply wanting to beat the shit out of the kids to actual police work and helping out who he could. Despite feeling bad about some stuff Herc was still the same idiot. The scene with Carver visiting Bodie and his crew was great.
"You want the funeral flower arrangement to look like a high-rise housing project?" "Hell yeah. Hell yeah. And put the numbers 221 in big-ass letters on the front. ...Just make sure the towers look like they do." FOH with that Bodie is overrated talk.
May have been discussed already, but the real Barksdale died in prison recently. http://www.syracuse.com/us-news/ind...he_wire_dies_in_prison.html#incart_river_home
