I'd hate Ziggy in real life but as a tv character I think he's fine. My least favorite character to see on screen is Burrell.
Ziggy is a fantastic character. The fact he creates such an emotional reaction for most folks that watch the show proves that point. He's supposed to be a mess that drives people crazy and he is completely successful at that. I think there are many "worse" characters than Ziggy IMO.
Ziggy was such a fuckup. Makes me sad for Nick having to bail his ass out and get caught up in his shit all the time
I swear to Bunk I feel like I use the phrases from his Sunday morning speech at least weekly. "bona-fide colored lady" "and y'all ain't hit the nigga neither?!" "not your mom's fa sho" "y'all woulda known better than that booollllshit"
You really ought to consider issuing a self-imposed ban on using the internet until you finish the rest of the series. Fucking Gibbons (or whatever name he is currently using) posted a Gif of one of the biggest spoilers of the entire series in a thread that had nothing to do with the wire. Watching the season that contained this spoiler was akin to watching The Sixth Sense for the first time already knowing the twist. That twat.
Spoiler What was the gif? I remember hearing about it but purposefully avoided it because I wanted to watch the show.
When you get to the end of season 2 (if you haven't already), you will be trying to find this song (there are no spoilers in this YouTube clip):
im on my 4th rewatch.. just finished season 2(love this season) the end of the season, the look of disgust/embarrassment on avons face when string told him he went to see brother malzone in the hospital.. I never picked that up til now.
Wait it's been a minute but Snoop didn't live that I recall There was the whole "how's my hair Mike?" scene
i mean yeah, he's really good at that. the more i rewatch the less i hate him but he's too blinded by stats like burrell.
Who is a bigger prick, him or Landsman? Rawls is a little drier and more sardonic and Landsman's fat ass seems to genuinely enjoy crushing the spirits of his employees
He becomes more likable on rewatches but I cant be the only one that hated Landsman initially. Every time he gives McNulty or Freamon an assignment it's in the most annoying way possible
Landsman never bothered me. He came off as a guy who knew how to fall in line and didn't buck the system like a McNulty or a Daniels. The detectives below him still respected him in the end though. I think that comes across in the scenes when they put one of their own on the pool table at the bar and he gives the speeches. Also the scene where he interrogates Bubbles then tells Norris to let him go.
Greggs is the only character I remember hating. Wish they killed her off in season 1, which was the initial plan.
I'm looking for that Irish bar song they sang around the dead body. And season 2 was woat. Hated the docks.
I get the Herc hate but much like the reporter, I think we were supposed to hate him....especially with how he fucked over Randy.
If there was a season 6 what would yall have wanted it to focus on? I definitely would have liked more backstory on any of the Barksdale or Stanfield street gang members
If anyone is bored, quiz to see how many characters you can name: http://www.sporcle.com/games/EricTheFundercat/wirecharacters Only got 54/70. Blanked on a couple names I should have known cause it's been a while but also they threw in a couple hard ass minor characters. Then left out a few people I can think of, mainly kids from S4
I read somewhere that they had a season 6 in the works that would have focused on the influx of Latinos into Baltimore. I thought that could have been interesting
Yeah I realize what I posted above wouldn't have been a season 6 because each of the first five all focused on some specific aspect like that. I would be cool with the Latinos thing being explored. Just in thinking back about the show and the parts I liked most, I always wanted more from Cheese or Fruit or Marlo or Avon or Slim Charles or whoever. They have so many characters and plots that even though the black street gangs get a lot of screen time overall, there's still plenty of shit that's just intimated or left out completely
