The Wire is great. BB is great. I still say if I have to choose between any of the shows I've seen to only have been allowed to watch one, it would be Arrested Development no question. just thinking about that show makes me laugh once a day at least.
And this is why I may never get around to watching the wire. all that talk and I watch the clip and I literally want to watch the show less. That's your go-to clip? no thanks. in before "you haven't watched the wire, so you can't talk." well, if every time I see part of an episode, I go do something else, how good can it be? honestly it's like the Emperors New Clothes. the stuff white people like description is spot on too. I know this guy likes to make attempts in every post to be witty and outside the box, but jesus man, give it a rest already.
that's not even close to being a go-to clip for the wire - that clip is amazing because it dates back to the first season, where one of the crew members educates the young soldier bodie on the game of chess, and bodie believes even though he's a pawn in the drug game, he has a shot to become king or queen, with d (a lieutenant) telling him it's against all odds and virtually impossible the scene you watched is an older bodie, explaining his situation and finally realizing that he will never ascend to that level in the organization - which speaks volumes to the direction and foresight of show's creator, illustrating the harsh realities of the streets - what's also great is as the viewer you've grown up with bodie and seen what he's been through in his environment, further capturing the pure, raw emotion of the character scene:
Sorry, but I see 2 actors, that for good reason have only had minor roles in shit-tier movies, and never won any award, ever. Julius Campbell is the only role either has even been nominated for. They remind me of Taye Diggs and Anthony Anderson's characters from "Malibu's Most Wanted". D'Angelo Barksdale Studied classical music at the Baltimore School for the Arts and the Juilliard School (as a clarinet major) for Christ sake.
Hmmm, maybe it's because I've seen the whole show, idk. I think it's one of the best scenes of the series. So powerful.
The Wire fan boys are as intolerable as any fan base I have encountered, ever. You pussies get so offended when someone even suggests a show is even close to The Wire.
so you're letting previous roles of actors affect the way you evaluate their future endeavors? so should i watch every bryan cranston scene based off his role from malcolm in the middle?
First off, I watched the scene wincing because it was so painful to watch. I then looked up the actors to see their background and it only reaffirmed my feelings. Secondly, with many actors I think its natural for almost everyone to associate them with previous roles and it takes a skilled actor to break from that previous role and make this new one its own.
If you watched that scene and winced then you're just a cunt. It was extremely well done and well acted, think you're just trolling at this point
at least the dude from the last couple pages was a somewhat compelling troll. you've never watched The Wire. why are you still posting?
so how can you take bb seriously if the main character's biggest career role minus bb was a supporting role on a tv show behind frankie muniz let that sink in for a few minutes before you respond
woah woah woah, I'll be one of The Wire's biggest supporters in here but don't start questioning Brian Cranston's acting abilities.
not questioning his acting abilities, questioning beemer's flawed logic he's using to base his idiotic opinions regarding the wire
Dean Norris is severely underrated http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cg-qqVJ6g6Y this is also probably the best scene in television history and if you disagree you're a goddamned hater.
Ask lkrfn if he can remember anytime I've ever trolled Because I've seen TWENTYTWO-award-winning BB, and for anyone to say some show with a bunch of shit actors, real people who aren't actors, and ZERO awards ever is better compels me to try and restore sanity. ?
omg worst thing i've ever seen, could barely sit through the shit-tier acting without killing myself due to how unbelievably terrible it was, and it sucked ass
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lBG7FR-pe8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91CpbRq9Tiw Two of my favorite Wire scenes.
That's a great flow chart. now, how is that relevant to the fact that you compared the acting ability required in a comedy series to that of a drama series?
first, A+. Second, A- It's amazing what a real actor can do for a scene(or show) if that dude could be the only or every character I'd call in sick tomorrow and not sleep tonight to watch the wire start to finish.
You should anyway. It really is amazing, and you know that I'm a Breaking Bad fag. But The Wire (from season 1-4) is literally the perfect show. I'll give you one more scene (and this is from season 1, but easily top 5 in the entire show imo), and hopefully you DL it and start watching it soon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1HUlTKvDUI
