I'm guessing no. She's too OP. I would like to see a whole new Witcher School but that seems unlikely given the wolf head they used.
Guess I'll need to finish playing Witcher 3 at some point after Elden Ring and before this comes out.
Thank God they are ditching that engine. People refusing to use other proven engines just to save a little money ended up backfiring on multiple studios recently. They spent more money to develop an engine than to pay to use one like UE, and in most cases it resulted in a worse engine that isn't viable at all for the future. There are some exceptions like Guerilla Studio's engine that was a huge hit and was even preferred by Kojima, but for the most part it has been a huge drain for these studios. Can't wait to see what they achieve with UE5. Been pretty public about my disappointment in TW3, but hopefully this is a sign they're going in the right direction from a gameplay perspective. Now just take some positives from Elden Ring's release (probably this generations BotW from an influence standpoint)about how to present a story with the world and minimal map markers, and we've got something special brewing. They've already got the mission structure and story writing concepts down.
I think Red Engine is pretty good though. It's produced some amazing visuals. Even Cyberpunk plays pretty well for a rpg.
Yeah but the track record they have releasing games on that engine is abysmal. I think this gives them the opportunity to focus more on what they’re best at while using far superior tech
How so? They've released three games on this engine, maybe four and all have received very high marks with the exception of maybe the first Witcher and Cyberpunk on old consoles where it had no business ever being. Unreal wouldn't have fixed that.
Dude the launches of both TW3 and Cyberpunk were miserable. They both ended up great but they launched super poorly. I think they’re probably done tryna make their tech work with their ideas
I’m in no way criticizing the games CDPR have released. I’ve been a huge fan since TW2. The issue is that they are a very high profile studio now and I don’t think they can drop another dud at launch.
I guess I didn't have as many issues with TW3 at launch as some but yeah I definitely don't mind the change to Unreal. Especially given some of the tech demos I've seen of the engine so far.
It definitely is when it comes to visuals. From what I've read in a few places, and it could be wrong, the RED engine struggles somewhat with physics and AI. I think it explains a lot why their combat wasn't necessarily the most refined in TW3, and the melee portion of CP2077 wasn't that great. I made the mistake of going with a melee build in Cyberpunk and it was pretty rough. Definitely going away from any melee stuff when I play the PS5 version.
Hoping they're already a little intro development before making the announcement. Making the announcement when you're 5 years out is a dick move.
Lottttttaaaaaa online discussion about ciri being the lead. I do not want that at all. She’s too strong
She’s almost the end game power fantasy of the Witcher series. I feel like you almost have to bring platinum games in to coach up some kind of ridiculous combat system to make it believable
CD Projekt Red has confirmed the medallion featured in its new Witcher game tease is from a new School of the Lynx, which will seemingly be invented for the game. bit.ly/3D4vo8J
apparently there’s a very popular fan fiction about a school of the Lynx started by Lambert and Kiera Metz after they leave Kaer Morhen together but no word on if CDPR is using that or if it’s just coincidence
If it’s a new school, they’ll have to broach the subject of how new witchers are even being created. The pogroms against the schools destroyed the mages and their notes of how to create them, so somebody must have rediscovered it.
Could it be a prequel set waaaay way back and no one remembers the school or it just wasn't talked about in the books/games?
Is that canon in the game though? Didn't they use at least a similar method on Ooma (sp?) to cure Avalache in 3? Are there any other schools at all in the book series?
It was canon in the books Yennifer used an ad hoc version of the Trial of the Grasses, but it would be impractical or impossible to use for large-scale creation of witchers because Yen had to use her own substantial Power to even make it work.
