or the coach. know she has been doing it in other games this season but this was probably the worst one of the season. pretty sure Chicago pulled every starter but her
I’m not, that team is starting to look like it’s going to be a circus soon. They want to be the badasses of the WNBA and play bully ball only problem is that’s all they have. Angel is a good player but she’s not a focal point to build around. Kardoso is a player they need to play through.
Haven’t loved what I’ve seen from her teammates after these hard fouls. She’s an assist machine making their lives so easy. I need them to get after these players committing hard/dirty fouls.
What a load of horseshit. 17% of CALLED flagrant fouls against one player isn't "just part of basketball". Imagine if there was one player in the NFL who was the recipient of 17% of unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. Death threats and the tumor comments are obviously insane and shouldn't be condoned, but the fouling itself shouldn't be hand-waved off either.
Stats are doing a lot of work here. It's 5 flagrant fouls with one of those being a questionable closeout on a 3 pointer and another where she got hit on the head when someone was going for a block.
Just find the "criticism of obvious targeted aggression is racist" train of thought to be extremely lazy and intellectually dishonest. We can acknowledge that Clark has been targeted without it devolving into a race thing just because she's white and the players doing it are black. There are other factors that contribute more to it.
what about when the people throw obvious racial slurs or calling them monkeys at those players is it a race thing then?
Obviously, but the article isn't really discussing that; it's essentially trying to wave off the idea that Clark has been the deliberate target of aggressive fouls (largely by the Sky, to be fair). It's a weird position to take when you can watch the games and see it happen.
Targeted is a bit of a stretch. And you're kidding yourself if you don't think the online responses that article is referencing don't have a lot to do with race. Early in the season, I literally heard a guy say WNBA players are racist against Clark because she's white.
There was one, maybe two intentional deliberate fouls. The bump from Carter and *maybe* deshields running into her after taking a bad angle. The others were just basketball plays and far from deliberate targeting. There isn't some vendetta against Clark.
No, I get that aspect of it, and maybe I'm misunderstanding the writer's intent because the article is a bit vague on whether she is suggesting that the online commentary is racist or the belief itself is racist, but she does pretty clearly try to play it off as "well, these are just ordinary basketball fouls" when they aren't. They just aren't. I don't think there's any particular racial intent on the part of the players or you would see more of these kinds of fouls on players like Ionescu and Plum. I think it's more of a rookie + chosen one thing and trying to throw her off her game, but it seems the height of naivity to think she's not being singled out.
The cycle is so tiresome . CC wins a game , plays well and then opposing players will Twitter google 3 comments out of thousands on Elon’s trash app to platform it to create a ‘controversy’. in many ways the League isn’t ready for prime time. Steph Curry is my favorite NBA player and some flat out awful things have been posted about him and especially his wife for years and he doesn’t quote and platform it. You ignore it.
Last I checked, a player didn't write that article. Weird that you're blaming opposing players for this coverage.
players have done that but either way she is using Instagram comments screenshots out of thousands as part of that article. it is just a never ending cycle that won’t end unless you ignore it.
iirc the Fever have had the #1 O since mid-June. if the league didn't give them that god awful schedule at the start and basically grind them into a fine dust in the first 3 weeks, I could easily see them at maybe 18-20 wins and pushing for a top 4 seed.
She was Wade's pick. Not sure she fit what they wanted to do going forward. They've basically punted on the season since getting rid of her. That pick swap might come back to bite them in the ass if they keep losing. That team without Chennady and Mabry is garbage at guard, which is why they got drilled by Indiana.
Its like Spoon just wants a team filled with her clones sadly the pick swap is with the most incompetent franchise in the W that would inevitably make the wrong selection
this may be something that sorts itself out but I'm honestly surprised they're still gunning for the playoffs. like, just full on tank at this point.
Wait. So Sheryl swoopes normally does the analysis for every Dallas game but today she’s not? There is no way of denying her jealousy and hatred for Caitlin
Fever are playing like one of the four best teams in the league right now, pretty strong run they’ve been on.
There are going to be some posts in the first ~15 pages or so that would make Danny Kanell blush after CC instantly becomes the mvp favorite next season and in perpetuity.
I think A'ja has 2-3 more seasons where she'll be the betting favorite before Clark takes over. I think if Clark nabs MVP before year 4 it'll be quite an accomplishment. she'll probably end up 2nd team all-WNBA this season unless she plays around a 28-30/10-12 mark for the remainder of the season but I do think she'll find her way to 1st team next season.
wonder if the wnba would have voter fatigue like the nba does wilson's about to be a 3-time mvp (3 of the last 5 years), won the finals mvp last year, and has won the last 2 dpoys. its not crazy to think someone else could win mvp even if wilson is the best player in the league.
