I think Bananas thought process was ..."He's either going to hit me or this is going to make him cry. Either way, he will finally stop following me around and I can get back to sleep".
We can freely acknowledge that Devin was being mundo annoying and needed to shut up and leave the man alone. But you can't say something like that to somebody and not be a shitty human being, I don't care how annoying Devin was. So let's not absolve Bananas for this either.
They both were at fault. Normally I'd be completely Team Devin, but you push a man so far you're going to get some sort of clapback. I would have been tempted to say something similar just to get him to shut up and leave me alone.
Random musing. I don’t think Kyle ever comes close to winning a challenge again. Got by the first time due mostly to all the girls loving him, but he’s done a lot of damage quickly on that front. Most girls will not like him going forward, and guys aren’t scared of him in eliminations.
Cracks me up how they have to change the trivia to challenge trivia instead of normal questions so they don’t look dumb.
And they still failed (a.k.a. Nelson not knowing the elimination area of a season he was on about a year ago).
Just caught up with last night’s episode. Shitty thing for Johnny to say, but I can’t blame him at all. We saw an edited version, so that crap probably went on for an hour with Devin following him. In the real world, you snap and pummel him halfway through, but you can’t do that without getting booted, so you say the worst thing you can think of to get him to go away. At some point, if you poke somebody long enough, something is coming back.
I finally watched it today and kind of thought Johnny was right initially. You just lost your dad, you should be mourning with your family. Even if your dad “loved the show and wants you to be on it,” feels like you could easily be on the next one. Be with your family. Be an easy drive or phone call away for those tough times where your family wants to look to you for support. Not halfway across the world not dealing with real life and not being there for those that find comfort through you. And you can’t tell me The Challenge is a good place for someone to spend time in that house in a fragile mental state.(Which is completely normal way to feel). Wonder if that’s why he was lashing out.
The other thing that annoyed me so much was that Devin is doing that in a situation where you forfeit a 1 in 8 or whatever shot at $1Mm if you take a swing, and where security guards are 2 feet away, and where cameras are everywhere. He knows Bananas won’t swing no matter what, so he keeps pushing. If no cameras and security, Devin doesn’t shit talk a single dude on that show outside Shane. It’s the challenge version of “hold me back bro”. Deserved it IMO.
I can see why bananas is finally getting a opportunity outside of the challenges with that gameshow or whatever he's doing. He's always been gold in the confessional and he's got quips for days. The "who put a fucking nickel in joss" after he bowed up had me dying bro.
Yeah Devin was being a bitch bc he knew Bananas wont hit him. In the real world he gets knocked the fuck out.
I laughed at Corey using the bitch move to trip Tony with his leg because he can't actually slam him. Guy is worthless at everything.

TBF - Everyone acts that way on these shows because they know they wont get hit. Bananas was randomly a guest on a podcast I listen to, and he said he acts differently in that setting than he does irl for all those reasons ect. He was also complaining that there's too much drama and no one is focused on the game anymore, which personally I think is great. So did the podcast host. He sounds like a bitter old man that complains about the new wave all the time. I think he knows his time is near the end.
Devin wants to be Wes so bad And this show is much better when more vets are involved near the end. Darrell CT Wes & Laurel instead of Nelson-Shane/Joss-Sylvia imo. Tony and Hunter are the only “new guys” I can see being long time successful challengers
I think we just like people we're familiar with. I think Devin is great television. Hate him but at least he stirs things up. He's one of the few that can get under Bananas' skin. Once we get to know the new wave better, it will be fine.
Agreed. The Big Brother people (I don't watch that show) seem a lot better at being good people on the show than when they grab from miscellaneous MTV shows as well. So, I'm glad they started looking away from MTV.
I don't think this season is about not knowing the newcomers as well, it's more that a bunch of the shitty competitors banded together and are controlling the game. The drama is high but the actually challenges feel like an afterthought. Add in that there are mixed gender teams and the eliminations seem more like a fluke than the best man wins. Looking at the cast for next season, it looks like they're going for athletic males and hot females. It should make things more interesting
I just caught up.. idc how long Devin was following bananas around that was a shitty thing to say. Also how does Corey and Devin get eliminated for that trip but sylvia doesn't get tossed for her headbutt?
Because Sylvia's headbutt was....as Marie said...."weak AF"...while Corey could have legitimately done something terrible to Tony.
Doesn't matter if it was "weak af" if it wasn't it could've broken Marie's nose. Much like Tony not being hurt.... at all, they should've stayed in the game
I think Sylvia should have been booted. Does a guy get kicked out if he throws a punch but misses or doesn't make solid contact? Also, Team Devin. Just because Johnny couldn't handle it, doesn't mean he can go that low. I hope him and Tony win and Tony takes all the money
Nah, Cory was rightly tossed. You can’t just toss people onto brick/concrete and continue to play. If it was between keeping both him and Sylvia and tossing both, then I’d go with getting rid of both.
What are you supposed to do if a guy literally follows you around won't get out of your face and no one will get him out of your face?
Talk shit back. Devan was right, Johnny will not talk shit back to Devan or even talk to him bc he can handle Devan like all the other idiots in the house. Devan is annoying no doubt, but you can't talk shit about a dudes dead dad bc you can't handle Devan. That's pretty pathetic
He was talking shit at first. You can't talk shit for hours on end. At some point you get tired of it. The next morning Devin was doing the same shit, in his face while he was lying in bed. I agree it was fucked up what he said but having someone 12 inches from your face not shutting up, you're gonna hit a breaking point.
I mean he said he should be at home mourning his dad passing. Hoping that his dad is a better person than Devin bouncing on his family to go on a show...from what I remember it didn’t really seem against his dad but more that Devin was a shitty person. Which, his actions following Bananas around the last hour running his mouth seem to justify.
He broke bc he can't handle Devan like he can others. That's my point & he came away looking like a bitch
Agreed, Devin gets in his head like no one else but what a bitch way to go about it. Anyone would get tired of that shit.
Johnny didn’t attack or say anything bad about Devin’s dad. Not usually #TeamJohnny but in this situation I am.
Def agree ppl would get tired of it. Devan knows this and goes in harder. It's great IMO. He's the single person Bananas can't manipulate
And returned a few weeks later, as people have said. There will be other challenges to be on. Seems a little unnecessary to return with all that going on, but whatever.
Do people have relatives that die and they leave work for months in end??? No That's stupid. You've got to keep living your life.
He did talk shit back. And that remark ended it. It was a shitty thing for him to say but it got the desired result. And honestly, it never would have happened had Devin not kept poking him.
He never talked shit about Devin’s dad. Not sure why you are wanting to hate on Johnny so much for this.
So being on The Challenge is now his job? Yes, live your life. That doesn’t automatically mean flock halfway across the world to be on a reality show. There’s a happy medium. But hey man, I don’t need to go 12 rounds about this.
Yes. If someone wouldn’t leave me alone and I couldn’t hit them I’d say pretty much anything to get them to leave me alone. And, as zachary said, Bananas called Devin a piece of shit, not his dead father.
I understand what you’re saying, but people mourn in different ways. I have less of a problem with him returning than him picking a fight (which him and Nelson did) then playing the victim when the person they picked a fight with comes back verbally swinging.
I'm nearly positive he doesn't have a real career like most other 28 year olds and the challenge and being in TV is his career, just like all the other regulars
No he didn’t. He said that he hoped Devin was the apple who fell far from the tree because he thinks Devin is a piece of shit. He never once said “hahaha, your dad died.”
