so this weekend has been a pretty nice America weekend for me, saturday the color orange got pounded and today (well yesterday by this point for me) this win, pretty damn sweet
We looked so damn good tonight. Michael Thomas is back, defense playing better. I love it. I also like that Payton is getting Murray more involved.
One of the things that I liked most about last night was finally getting the red zone defense working. It had been historically bad before that. Looking at the schedule we have a pretty easy road - we should be favored in every game but the Chiefs (and maybe so in that one). We're bound to lose a couple but should be in the hunt for the 1 seed.
Not gonna lie, thought for sure we were going to let that lead slip in the 2nd half. Not lose, but ive watched it happen a time or two before. Seems like the dline is getting back to form. Was that Davenports first game back, right? Mike coming back obviously opens up the entire offense too. Sanders looked good, you know Drew can spread it around even if we aren't pushing deep shots. Definitely worried about our recent pattern of getting hot and cooling off in the playoffs as DUCKMOUTH has mentioned. Kwon Alexander next week?
Actually his 4th game back, but he's been getting better each game. When all the weapons on offense are healthy it's a damn hard offense to slow down. Need the OL to stay healthy, wouldn't mind getting Easton back at RG - I like Ruiz but he's probably the weak link right now.
The post came reports made it sound like bad news for Brees. Winston was turrible out there. Hopefully if needed to start a week of practice will help him but it got ugly out there. will say the D has really stepped up lately though
Winston was fine. Although they’re banged up, the 49ers still have some really good defensive players out on the field. They were 4-5 coming into Sunday’s game against us, it’s not like they were 1-8 or something. I have faith in Winston. He’s not the game manager like Teddy, maybe more like a “gunslinger” similar to Favre (not comparing him to Favre, just their style of play) and he will make the errand throws, but I want to finally see what a strong-armed quarterback in Sean Payton’s system can do.
Featured ribs and collapsed lung. Minimum 2 to 3 weeks for Brees https://www.nola.com/sports/saints/...JsLLzuO8cwAgNWfUOolWNmR6XlgpKRqm1rYI8l-a-A3ok
Falcons - Broncos - Falcons - Eagles The good news is the schedule isn't that strong for the next month. The better news is even if we fuck up and lose to the Falcons we'll still be in the playoff push and fuck up their draft pick. We should be able to beat the Broncos no matter who is at QB, Eagles may be a little tougher but same there as well.
I mean the timing of it is not bad. Winston can take starting Reps in practice and with an easy schedule this is a good chance to see if he can be the guy with SP
Not a fan of Winston at all, but i do agree this is a good time for him to get his shot. Im expecting 2-2, winning whichever falcons game is in the dome and beating Denver.
This is bizarre and hard to believe, but the Saints have two wins against the Broncos in team history. Their last win against Denver, was at Denver in 1994 (30-28).
We should've won against them in '16 but IIRC that's when they jumped the snapper on the XP and returned it to win. Should've been a penalty but that shit never goes our way.
So our remaining schedule: ATL @ DEN @ ATL @ PHIL KC MINN @ CAR Seems like folks aren't too keen on Brees returning in 3-4 weeks, which means he won't be back in time for KC. I think 3-2 is realistic through KC, which puts us at 10-4. 4-1 // 11-3 would be outstanding going into KC, but we generally shit the bed once against ATL. That won't get us the #1 seed/only bye in the playoffs, though, unless GB shits the bed.
Somehow I missed that Brees cracked 5 ribs total on either side and not just 1. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...-new-orleans-saints-qb-drew-brees-source-says
It's Taysom time. This may be terrible and blow up in our faces, but I'll be excited to watch that's for sure.
yeah we shall see. He’s going to be draft King’s QB this week though. Super cheap and can stack line up else where
Y’all like wtf are we doing???? Starting Taysom and Winston won’t be involved at all? I don’t want to wish failure, but idk they keep force feeding us this malarkey over Taysom being the future.
I'd rather find out over the next 2-3 weeks that this experiment won't work than head into next year with Taysom as the guy.
We win - great We lose - it fucks up the Falcons draft position and we're still solid in the playoff hunt. Win-Win.
Guys Brees will play 5 more years and then you will have Taysom Hill as the guy from age 35-45. Seems like a good plan iyam
Fuck it, let it ride. Taysom about to have a Big Dick Nick run to the Super Bowl. Just read options with Kamara and bombs down the field. No in between.
I look forward to him unleashing his fast ball on swing passes but hey I’m not a Saints fan, just an observer of Payton’s strange strange obsession with this guy.
Idk why you don’t play Taysom as the slot receiver, put him in motion to take direct snaps and either pass or run the ball, his choice. Then other than that have Winston throw him a bone every now and then for a 5-7 yard slant or little out route. Someone said it above, but maybe this is good for everyone to see what Taysom is really made of. If he sucks then people will stop talking about it. But fuck if he’s really good then maybe we just trade him. I just hope they don’t think he’s some poor mans Lamar Jackson.
I said it in the game thread a few weeks ago -- I wish he was as good as Payton and the media makes him out to be. I think he's an above-average gadget back, not good/great. He definitely has the burst to make the big play, which makes him valuable, but not as much as his usage warrants.
Am I crazy to think it’s only smart for Sean Payton to play Taysom, and if he’s good, we trade him to a quarterback-starved team in the offseason for a 4th or 5th round pick?
I guess I’m assuming they’re both gonna get snaps and who’s the starter probably doesn’t matter. Could be wildly wrong though
Taysom contract was baffling when it came out. I'm really curious to see what he looks like as a true starter at qb.
Taysom actually looks pretty good throwing the ball. Could maybe make the read a little quicker and take off some, maybe, but I’m happy with how he’s looked.
He looks decent, but the game plan is made for him not to fail. Nothing too risky, just pound the ball. They had the one deep pass that was negated. This kinda reminds me a little bit of Teddy’s five-game stint last year. Just be a game manager. And he just fumbled. Fuck.
Defense put the team in position to win today. Verdict is still out on Taysom imo. Let’s see how he does when he has to pass and move the ball down the field in a close game.
