yep can play random people, bots, or do private games i think everything past the base game costs money though
Who knows if it will translate to being a good board game, but I'm sold on the premise: A Euro-style board game centered around college football recruiting
The digital version of Wingspan is excellent. Really appreciate the compatabilty across different platforms. Being able to play against opponents on desktop, Apple, Android and switch is pretty sick.
My friend brought over Arkham Horror tonight. I had played it with him once before at my brother’s using a pretty generic deck my friend had as an extra. Tonight it was he, my wife and I playing and we had a blast. Will be looking to play more for sure
I have been playing the hell out of Ark Nova lately, my and my wife have played it a dozen times since getting it at the start of this month.
Did you end up backing this on Kickstarter? I did, no clue how it will be as a board game but I love the theme so will try to get it to the table with my friends.... although there is no overlap between my board game friends and sports.
I did, though I'm in a similar situation with most of my board game friends not being big into college sports. But there are at least a couple I know are interested in it, so we'll see how it goes once it arrives.
I have a friend (female) who always brings a deck of cards or something like this: https://www.target.com/p/buzzed-hyd...92ESMrCIzOK5Dwnqz1EaAmYEEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds To bars. Always has something in her purse. Any recs for something I could gift her in that vein?
I love F*CKtionary, but it's probably too big for her purse. These are actual games and not really "party" games, but still fun to play while drinking and will fit in her purse.... Scarlet Letter is probably not what she's looking for, but it is really popular for many people in the hobby as the game they always take with them. Ditto for the "For Sale" game. Their travel size version of the game is amazing, and one I've brought out many a nights in hostels and with friends alike. Haven't played these, but found in a google search: Bad Choices (play on Never have I ever) Who In the Room And a video I found on YouTube that I haven't completely watched yet:
Not sure if anyone played Heroes of Might and Magic III back in the day but the kickstarter for the board game just ended. Raised way more than they needed and the game looks awesome.
Ark Nova is now on Board Game Arena - and it's great. I've probably knocked out 15 games in the past few days, plays perfect and as a game that's hard to get to the table I'm loving getting a bunch of plays and trying different strategies.
The alpha is now live on BoardGameArena, going to give it a shot on there, if my local group won't get it to the table often I'm glad I'll be able to play online at least. I got to play TI 3rd edition about a month ago, my 2nd time. I really enjoy that game. The only downside is as it starts to drag and a couple people aren't paying attention it can slow it down even more than it already is. Would like to eventually play with a group of people who are familiar with the game and try to get the time down a little. I think we finished this one in about 8 hours. I did play the the roll and write version - twighlight inscription(?) last weekend - also like that one, about an hour and a half, but it doesn't quite scratch the epic TI itch.
yeah twilight inscription is definitely fun! totally different game but I enjoyed it. we have a good crew of people who will pay attention the whole time...though it's hard to avoid the "oh shit I meant to..." moments. I won the game though
Played Marrakesh tonight with friends. https://boardlandia.com/products/ma...8&utm_source=google&utm_medium=smart_campaign wow. Very impressive game and really fun. Highly recommend.
I really like the mechanic when you select the action cubes and drop them in the tower - less, or more could come out and you're not guarantied your actions. Was a lot of fun. We played the newest Great Western Trail (New Zealand) on Wednesday night. That is my favorite of the series, GWT is one of my all time favorite games. Argentina was nice, but I need to replay it again to see. New Zealand was great. Just enough 'more' and different actions to really enjoy it. Money didn't seem nearly as tight as in GWT Argentina. I've been playing Campy Creatures every time I can get it to the table lately, great somewhat quick card game. Me and a couple of friends are splitting the final girl kickstarter, it's solo but the wife and I played one scenario the other night and it was a lot of fun.
Othello is Solved Hiroki Takizawa The game of Othello is one of the world's most complex and popular games that has yet to be computationally solved. Othello has roughly ten octodecillion (10 to the 58th power) possible game records and ten octillion (10 to the 28th power) possible game position. The challenge of solving Othello, determining the outcome of a game with no mistake made by either player, has long been a grand challenge in computer science. This paper announces a significant milestone: Othello is now solved, computationally proved that perfect play by both players lead to a draw. Strong Othello software has long been built using heuristically designed search techniques. Solving a game provides the solution which enables software to play the game perfectly.
I've played the new racing game Heat: Pedal to the Metal a few times now, and I really like this one.
Is that a custom built 3d printed twilight imperium war sun trophy for our annual game? You bet your ass it is
1. Gloomhaven 2. Oathsworn - I have a group we're playing through it right now, scenario 19 of 22 or so. It's combat and gameplay is a good bit different, but it's fun. It's very narrative heavy, and if you don't like that side of it - the gameplay isn't so amazing it's worth the price but it's fun. 3. Pandemic Legacy Season 1. - Played this 2 players with my wife a few years ago and it was a great experience.
