The tweet says Gruden is "reportedly owed $40M over the next 5 years." The NFL.com story says... Those are not the same things. Florio is a fucking idiot who does this kind of shit all the time.
Gruden probably rightly expects the NFL to settle to prevent the rest of their investigation from having to be turned over and leaked in discovery.

Goodell won't release the investigation to protect the shield. But then also having the NFL pay out of big settlement cause he was mad someone talked shit about him in an email would be the most fitting outcome.

Yeah, don't think anyone knows what it is worth dollar wise for the NFL to prevent their investigation into Washington from coming out in its entirety is. But Gruden's lawyer is attempting to find out.
