What weight lifting program are you guys doing? I am going to start incorporating that next week and was curious what set/reps everyone is doing. I’m 40 now so I don’t care about how much I can squat and bench, just looking to get back into it for the long haul.
All my lifting is part of crossfit workouts, I would recommend doing Stronglifts 5x5 if you just want something basic to do and then adding accessory work on the machines from there.
Our workout last night was Every minute for 10 minutes (50 second active cap, 10 sec rest) Row 200M 2 min rest Every minute for 10 minutes (50 second active cap, 10 sec rest) 5 power snatches, touch and go (recommended was 115 but I dropped to 95, should've done 115 it was too easy) 2 min rest Every minute for 10 minutes (50 second active cap, 10 sec rest) 10 bar facing burpees The 10 burpees turned into rounds of 8 for me after the second round then after about round 5 just turned into falling onto the ground and getting back up as many times as I could in 50 seconds The first two segments were so easy and then my life got ruined on the burpees. Also have some nice bruises across my thigh this morning because I got a little careless trying to bring my snatches back down.
My theory that is based solely on nothing is that eating more of your calories early in the day means you burn more of them faster. But I don’t have a doctor job to back that up.
The bold is kind of how I look at it. I’m not usually hungry when I wake up so I figure why not save those calories for after dinner or something if I want a snack.
Yep, here is the blog post I was summarizing in case anyone is interested. https://loseitblog.com/2021/01/10/benefits-of-eating-breakfast/
Its better than eating before bedtime. It also sucks if you track calories and run out or low before dinner. I usually eat fruit (banana, blue berries or black berries), whole grain toast or oatmeal & OJ or 1% milk for breakfast. You can get out the door under 500 calories. That leaves a lot of wiggle room later. I was only consuming 1600 calories when I lost all the weight. I'm back up to 1800-1900 now that I'm trying to build back core strength.
I went from 202 lbs to 176 @ 6'1" in under 3 months. (Mid Oct to NYE) Losing 26 lbs between Halloween & NYE isn't easy. That's my covid achievement after gaining 15 lbs the first 9.5 months of the year. I recently saw one of my friends who hadn't seen since 2019 & he never knew I got fat. Happy didn't really take any pictures during 2020 lol
I had stomach/GI issues. I couldn't drink alcohol or eat out or processed food/red meat without getting sick. It was frustrating bc I became a lot better cook over the last couple of years and had to eat salad/fruits/ veggies all the time. I leaned into it and tried to turn it into healthier lifestyle bc didn't have a fucking choice. I'm trying to find a balance now using portion control. I would have murdered you all for some Joe's ribs, pizza from Minsky's or wings from The Peanut in December though. lol
Some people have a frame to carry more weight and look proportional. I don't. It all goes to my gut and chin. I have more of a swimmers/runners build. I don't really add much weight in my arms or legs or butt. Even when I lifted all the time and was pretty strong I didn't add much bulk. Skinny-fat is a worse look than just fat. I just look fucking pregnant lol
Nothing crazy, but I weighed in this morning at my lowest weight since June of 2019 based on the weights I have tracked in my app the last few years. Probably will gain a little back before Monday's official weigh-in since I am not as strict on weekends, but still was nice to see the last few months paying off. Now I just need to stay on top of it and keep going.
I started mixing in some 15-25lb weights last week, to try to mix up my workouts and also build some upper-body strength for the first time since I was born. Still not 100% sure what I am doing, but found a few different 'lifts' I can do at home so hopefully it works.
Says the man that didn't date their initial weigh in pic. Per rules: DISQUALIFIED!!* Spoiler *User Daddy Rabbit does not decide matters relating to TMB Biggest Loser 2021. His comments are irrelevant.
Lmbo. He def wears a padded vest for games right? I know there was some workout photos from a year ago where he looked chubby, but I think the pick now has a lot to do with the padded shirts some guys wear.
Anyone looking to cut sodium intake should look at MSG. It gets a bad name but it only has 1/3 of the sodium as regular salt. My wife (doctor & asian immigrant) calls it "Asian Salt". It's stupid that they shun it here. The original articles on it were debunked. It's sort of like weed still being a schedule 1 drug. It makes that much sense.
01/11 - 240.6 01/17 - 239.2 -1.4 lbs Spoiler 01/04 - 250.2 01/11 - 240.6 01/17 - 239.2 A day early because I won't be around a scale tomorrow and maybe Tuesday.
Start 265.8 Week 1: 1/10 255.5 (-10.3) Week 2: 1/17 246 (-9.5) Weekly Recap I guess I got close to being disqualified. Sunday night I got absolutely destroyed by a stomach flu. Shit and vomited for 36 hours. Didn't eat Monday and most of Tuesday. I didn't feel normal until Thursday. Haven't worked out all week. I ate kinda shitty bc nothing healthy seems good. Even drank both Friday and Saturday. Little surprised at the scale this week tbqh
I don’t care what day you post your weekly weights but I’ll consider each Sunday to Saturday a week for tracking purposes and post the previous week’s weights each Monday That will happen Tuesday of this week as I am taking off tomorrow and going to go golfing and do fun things
You're a fucking nutcase with your weight gains/losses. starting RP hopefully this week as I've tried to outwork a bad diet for too long and while happy with lifting numbers, my body composition is not near where I want it to be. Alcohol/sugar cookies/soft pretzels, I've been a mess since the holidays.
Back to this, I'd love to be able to maintain a consistent weight for the first time in my life. I'm sure it's not great for my body to constantly gain/lose 40 pounds ever 6 months
