New showdown today?
Yes. Few hours ago it looks like. About to check it out.
After facing Crochet and Edward online last night it’s almost tough to go back to these random pitchers on rookie for showdown.
Heyyyyy. Beat it on first try.
Yep. Just finished. Eckersley is the final boss.
For whatever reason I suck ass vs Snell who was my mini-boss. Will have to play the early challenges so my team isn’t so bad next time.
Slower guys with offspeed shit murder me. Fernando was my worst case scenario and I got butt lucky beating him.
Also I got the boss this morning, picked Glaus. It was so weird getting a dude without having used him in showdown. Also I’m probably not even going to waste my time on showdown until 1-2 days left if I haven’t completed the full XP amount. What’s the point?
Last thing and I’ll shut up and listen, I got all that XP and I barely played online, didn’t do a second of the archetype bullshit and pretty much just finished up TA (last week). I don’t know how I’m accumulating it so quickly.
I didn't know I could sell cards on the web! That's a gamechanger
I just listed 15 duplicate cards and 8 were sold within 2 minutes...I probably priced them too low
For almost any card other than a rare diamond over say 20-30k, list it for either one lower than the lowest, or if some chode tries to undercut by a substantial margin, list it one lower than the rest of the pack. It will sell in 24 hours, no problem.
If it was like buy for 95/sell for 50 I'd do like 85 and they'd sell right away
Little amounts so nbd, just learning
Yeah I will sell for like 2-3 below because I’m inpatient and they’ll sell almost instantly 99% of the time.
Do 94... It'll sell just as fast. You're selling to people who are buying with quick buy, so the price won't matter much as long as it's the bottom one.
Flipped the Longoria card today, bought it for $52,170 and sold it for $61,769 which was like $3,422 stub profit. Hurray!
I’ve done the same thing and you’re right in most cases it’s not a big deal. But like Gin Buckets said, I’ve done tests before as well. If you’re low, it’ll always sell barring it’s not a diamond or random equipment sticker perk or call sign bullshit. I’m those instances it’s worth cutting price on, IMO.
Also it’s amazing how many stubs you have if you don’t sell duplicates. Just going through and selling live series I’ve netted over 15k in short order in just silvers and bronzes. Adds up quickly.
What’s the best way to find/sell the duplicates again?
theshow.com and click duplicates and owned on the left was easy for me
lol wtf I didn’t realize this 89 Snell card in the 3rd inning was a RP. I need a LHP that doesn’t suck in my pen so might have to hang onto him.
He has higher stamina than most RP too so a great long man.
Chipper missed the tag
Had that happen to me but first base lane path. To make to worse, bunt cheese. I didn’t take a picture but it wasn’t a bang bang play, runner literally took a few steps before he matrix’d me.
I played a bloop hit to right off the hop. It bounced over Bichette's head and made it about another 100 feet before Buxton got it at the track.
I was mad bc this scored him
And tied the game.
2 innings later I got a terrible PCI/early moonshot HR to take the lead back so it evened out.
do you review each hit to make sure it's kosher?
Will there be more chances to get the 42 cards or should I just start buying them now?
They are likely to show up in packs in future conquest maps (a couple of months down the road).
I think the release of the shark map is the sign that the flood gates are opening with respect to pack quality in showdowns.
Honestly I look at every swing. I want to see if he's early/late and where his PCI is. If he's someone that slams the PCI low and is late on everything, I'm not going to throw offspeed low bc that would be in his wheelhouse. Looking at their PCI is great info.
That's cool, man. I just picture you mashing buttons and having a vein swell up in your forehead every time you see a dinker fall in against you.
So save my money for the Live Series cards I'll never get like deGrom and Cole. Got it.
I made 120k stubs selling duplicates and flipping 2 days ago, and then last night before I got off, I wasted nearly all of them on non Live cards. Now I'm annoyed and filled with buyer's remorse.
Inning 3 showdown was incredibly easy. Beat it on the first try without losing a single one.
They dipped to about 23-25k each the other day and I bought them all up to get Jackie. If you see a day like that, it's worth it IMO.
Na, much more like this.
Yeah because they were in packs for something. I can’t remember if it was conquest or POTM or what but they are starting to show up. They’ll eventually be virtually free because none of those 88s will be usable.
I had no idea how prevalent 95+ mph sinkers were in the MLB. But I'm happy to finally see some elite SP come out that doesn't have one.
Justice fielding stats not as bad as I was expecting based on the subreddit. Not much worse than playing Trout at a secondary position penalty except for the speed.
when they have guns that are better in the game than they are meant to be in games like COD, they nerf them.
I hope Cabrera gets Nerfed. he pitches tougher than degrom in the game which is asinine
pretty sure he threw that slider for like 96mph IRL a few times in his last start.
Do they ever "correct"/nerf cards that aren't live series like that Cabrera? Or do they just put out OP cards by mistake and then say fuck it
They don’t tend to “fix” players from my point of view. If they change something it’s the game play, timing, contacts etc… I only have last year to go by but that’s just me perception. Last year Kluber was untouchable for a good while. Then slowly they make a change or two and the bats get better and people slow way down on using him.
fwiw, I don’t mind the OP cards, it’s just obnoxious facing the same 2-3 dudes constantly.
that's kinda what was the problem I was alluding to.
Facing the same SPs every online game = Everyone using the same META guns in online shooters. discourages any kind of diversity
A couple years ago instead of the energy bar, the game would randomly select 1 of your 5 SPs before the game. IIRC people would just put an SP in the game later on so it somewhat defeated the purpose. The energy bar prevents that, but like you said it doesn’t matter when it’s the same 2-3 guys on every team.
The problem is that pitch selection is so important that even though he's rated high idk how well he'll play without the sinker and cutter. Straight pitches are much easier to square up. I have a lot of success tunneling one area with 4 seam, cutter, and sinker. On All Star it doesn't work bc pci are huge and you can be in that area and hit it. With a a small pci, an away pitch to a righty can be on the black with a 4 seam, off the plate with a cutter, or middle zone with a sinker. A small pci can't cover all 3.
The way to circumvent it would be to add rating cap online play -- kind of like the TMB league. The pitchers are relatively diverse with a couple of exceptions.
Yeah as far as I am aware it's been the same for years.
with how hard it is to get base hits against the OP pitchers currently in the game, its not hard to throw borderline strikes for 7 innings and then bring in 2 elite RPs in the 8th & 9th and your SP have enough energy to trot back out there full juice after 3 starts. I haven't used a 5th SP in a while.
Used to plug in my CAP pitcher as the 5th but since I found CarGo's swing in the CAP Swing animations he's the only guy that can consistently hit the OP pitchers for me. That swing is so quick it can hit the 102 crochet and inside Sinkers by Cabrera
Defeats the purpose of grinding for a God squad. That's cool for events and stuff like that but not ranked.
Played a ranked seasons game vs a dude who was 141 and 114... One thing when guys have that many games is they usually quit out if you can get a decent or early lead. Was only up 3-0 but he wasn't hitting anything and quit about inning 5 or 6.
To add on the pitcher talk, last year there was a 93 Brusdar Graterol very much like the new Cabrera card. For a while he was all people used because he threw 100mph and had a sinker. My guess is it took about a month before he was hardly used anymore once more 97+ SP came out. It was a rough month of seeing him every couple of games but even then I feel like I didn't see him like I'm seeing this Cabrera. Maybe because Cabrera was easier to get so everyone has him.
Does it still show pci if someone is using directional hitting like user, Taco Sa1ad
Idk but I've never played someone that it didn't show it.
“Lost” 15-15 in the final showdown vs Eck. Should have beat it but I had two classic Showdown DPs where a dude caught a liner and tagged my runner. Then my dog started losing his shit so I wasn’t taking many pitches to try to finish it. Throws tons of sinkers and doesn’t locate very well. Not super wild but tons of pitches that miss down or away. Energy went yellow around 35-37 pitches, then red at the low 50s, no energy by the high 60s.
Going to try again, and might not pickup the controller until I have two strikes.
Yeah he turns to shit pretty fast, my first showdown win
