Yea that blows. Paxton must have a friend on their staff or something bc that makes no sense at all after a 98 or whatever last year. It's James Paxton.
Also every headliner that's released has ultimately gone down in price after they move on to another headliner.. except that mf Carlos Santana. I bought one at 80k then his price jumped so I sold and made about 10k stubs. In waiting for it to get down into the 70's it stopped around 77k and started climbing. It's now over 110k. That being said, I'm not thrilled about 95 Gibson headliner coming out today either.
I remember them doing this last year with a Tatis card and I don't really mind it. Probably too early for a 99 ovr end game SS.
Tatis was different bc he hit a huge HR or some shit. Maybe a grand slam? Can't remember. He wasn't a prospect getting called up. That's my issue.
Ah yeah that's true. At least it's temporary. Last year people were livid we never got a 99 Wander or 99 Adley card. I don't mind the low 90 cards but don't care to have any 96+ 'future stars'
Agree. I'm cool with them early in the year but they need to stop at like 92 and then let the real stars and legends take over from there.
Right, that's what I'm saying. We shouldn't have future stars rated as high as DeGrom and Trout. That's why I said to stop the future stars at 92 and then let the real stars and legends be the 94+ cards. And speaking of DeGrom, go look at his actual numbers. Like his break, control, etc. It's ass compared to other top SP. Look at his ratings and then compare to Leiter. Night and day. DeGrom is a 95 in overall only. His underlying numbers don't support it at all.
If you have Wander, sell him for $70k and then do the Wander moments and earn back a no sell version.
Everyone loves the Paxton card every year. It shoves. You'll see an Arrieta here as well that everyone loves
It's just weird to get him again. Like why? There's tons of random lefty SP to choose. Why him for a 98 in back to back years?
He's got 21.1 scoreless innings for me in ranked. between people quitting and swinging so freely that my SPs hardly ever need to come out due to fatigue, I have only used Lee Smith / Gossage / Dibble like 5IP total because I "save them for save situations"... which almost never happen. Always Chapman and Hader and they've combined for 35IP and Chapman has given up the only ER. Sliderfest 2k21
stanton's strike zone is enormous and his swing feels almost soriano-slow. can't hit with him. Also finally benched soriano. tough to do with a 99ovr but .251 average in ranked I can't justify in the lineup. Finley getting his 2nd chance after I prematurely cut it short once I got Trout. He was hitting .310 in 15 games before getting benched
My OF right now is Soriano, Trout, Finley. I don't do terribly with Soriano but I also am terrible on anything above all-star so maybe there's a correlation there. I'm just not sure who else to put out there right now. Had Acuna to start the year but he wasn't any better than Soriano. I'm planning to buy David Justice when his price comes down more so I'm just sort of holding until then for now.
Have you thought about a platoon? Soto or Winker vs righty, Mickey or Braun vs lefty? I stopped worrying about defense as much bc 80% of runs score on HR's. Soto and Winker are both like 105/120 vs righties with inside edge. Both have good swings too.
I should probably sell out for power but I'm a sucker for speed/defense because it really annoys me when a slow OF gets a bad jump or doesn't get to a ball in the gap.
Haha I get that. I just need all the help I can get offensively so getting a non-perfect HR due to 120 power helps me more than running down a gapper.
Glad I’m not the only one, that shit drives me fucking crazy. Especially when a pull hitter slaps one late down the line, shift on. When I have one of them in I pretty much laugh and say, “triple”. Currently going with Buxton, Trout and Ohtani. Nice mix of power and speed. Also had a rage quit today, dude gave up a lead off triple to me and he was down one in the seventh? We’re on smaller PCI levels and even on hits at six. I don’t get it, I always take my ass kickings. It’s part of baseball.
If you ever see someone sitting on that slider or FB throw a change, it’s hilarious. If I see the dude struggles with offspeed I have Gagne in there as well. He has a pretty effective FB as well.
Anybody have any PCI recommendations? I'm just using the default one and I'm also too lazy to try all of the combos
Honestly for me, something that’s not obnoxious is what I settled on. I’ll play with it depending on how I’m seeing the ball but it’s more a hindrance for me. Not saying I am good, because I’m not, it’s just more tracking the ball than whatever the pci looks like. That’s why I make it as light as possible.
Honestly with how it's set up now, I'm not even sure which part of it I'm supposed to be hitting the ball with
Perfect is dead center. In my estimation dead center is an out 50% of time an out, but that’s still what the aim is. That’s dumber than fuck, I’ll add. In this game, there’s definitely an advantage to being under the ball as opposed to over it. So in general terms, I try to be under more than over. As a result I start my PCI low most of the time, feel like its more rewarding for the game. That said, I am no Ted Williams.
Just bought Trevor Story off an order I placed last night at 6500 to complete the Rockies LS collection, which dropped a 10 TA pack reward, in which I pulled Trevor Story, who is going for 5400
Did his regular card go to 99 or how would you already have him? Also does this card expire next week? Thought I remember the Tatis card only being usable for a small window.
Yea they just juiced his regular 91 card for a week. It'll be back to 91 next week. Was selling for 25k earlier this week, 70k now.
Damn wish I had that card I’d sell it for sure. Doubt I’ll even grind for his card if it’s back to 91 next week.
Up 1-0 in top 2nd and now in a freeze. Idk if he did it on purpose or what but I guess I won't be playing anymore tonight.
Ugh just lost a bitch of a game. Got straight shoved by Burnes but Ortiz got a perfect HR in the 7th to go up 1-0. Held him scoreless until 1 out in 9th with Mo pitching and he got a very early HR by Groshans on a slider away. Lost in the 10th on a sac fly. Can't complain too much bc I didn't hit for shit but neither did he lol.
Ok now THIS one has me mad and lost rhythm game for me. Slightly late on 102 high and in and not even on the PCI and it was a 2 run HR to take the lead. That should never ever ever ever ever happen.
That 99 Wander is a real 99. Took 12 minutes to complete the moments to get him. Not sure when they put those out, but I can't imagine his 67,800 price tag will last long.
