Trying to finish the final mission for the Week 3 April program. I can’t hit a HR with Buxton to save my life. It’s legit pissing me off.
Was doing the one that was like get 6 strikes out and all of a sudden after i got 5 strike outs they became the most disciplined batters ever. Last batter of the moment fucking perfect perfects an 0-2 slider down and away and cranks a hr that spoils the moment
The April moment with the Padres pitcher, somehow I struck out the first 6 batters so I just had to survive the next 3 innings with zero runs. Usually I come out firing then in the final part give up a blooper or a line drive to the opposite side of a shift.
Pulled 85/Diamond Luis Robert out of a random pack. Not too exciting lol hope I don’t have to wait another 100 packs.
I got him tonight in a headliner pack. Also got a chase pack and was so excited only for it to be gold
Yea Rizzo was a pretty terrible POTM. He's a slow power 1b. Those are plentiful in the game. On the bright side, he won't be hitting leadoff in 99% of lineups so we'll still have good lineup diversity. I'll give them credit for that, there's not many meta cards this year. Every game online is against what feels like a new team. Last year it was the same lineup over and over.
Fair. Thankfully they started this years POTM at 92 and the others are 88. Last year it was 95 and 92 iirc. Buxton was definitely a 95 out the gate.
Yeah i am hoping they are really reserving the 99 ovrs for a select amount of cards. I would love to have a plethora of low to mid 90s in the game that you can always level up a little more anyways
I don't even mind if the 99s come early but they need to make 4-5 players at each position that are somewhat equal. It just gets old when everyone has the same lineup. Game needs variety.
How much do swing and pitch delivery play into meta lineups? In FIFA the big difference is body type. That lots of people will never touch certain cards even super high rated if they have certain body types
Swings are definitely huge. I can’t tell you why though, but if you search YouTube or online for online CAP swings to use there is a reason….. In terms of delivery, makes no difference at all. They will eventually release a Walter Johnson who has a windup longer than any touchdown celebration you’ve ever seen. Probably down to user preference in terms of the sequences required for delivery.
Yeah you can just feel the swing response and smoothness when you use a great one but I don’t know how the developers determine who has that. I would rather throw a silver with a short wind-up/stretch than a diamond with a long one
I don’t care about the bats at all. People seem to be good with different guys. It’s the pitching I fucking hate. Sixto and Garrett was probably the most annoying phase.
Sole swings just seem quicker than others. Trout is quick. Soto is quick. Marte is super quick. I think Marte is the most used on caps, but I prefer Soto. Disagree on pitcher release. Some hide the ball and it jumps out of their hand. The Kluber release, same one Edward had last year, is a good example. Some are just harder or easier to pick up. Of course you have the side arm stuff too and that's going to be cheesed up with caps.
Edward was by far the worst for me. Agree the same pitchers are worse but I still like firing up a game and playing something new.
Schedule says there's a 97 overall new legend coming out Tuesday. I hope it's a buns card and not a new meta SP.
Yeah absolutely but there are guys you can just pick up and guys you can’t. I was speaking more mechanically in terms of the game. I’ve seen what he is talking about for FIFA, and answering his question related to game tricks per body type or mechanics. I would say release and pitch types are generally more looked at. Same sided sinkers, sliders that don’t slide and insane off speed stuff is probably more fits the bill. Btw, splitters and cutters seem to be insanely effective this year. It is damn near impossible to crush them. Sliders fastballs curves and changes you just kind of have to be in the vicinity. I’ve had some perfect/perfect square ups on splitters and cutters that routinely result in an out.
Yea if I were making a pitching cap, I'd use Sinker, Cutter, Slider, Splitter, and Screwball. The amount of foul tips on changeup and curveballs that would otherwise hit the dirt is infuriating.
Yeah so fucking dumb. I’m playing events because I like to move, play quick be done. When I get to like 8 or 9 pitches fouled in a row, you’re getting one down the middle. Also the number of homers 1-2 foot above the strike zone is insane as well. They kind of ruined the top and bottom of the zone.
I must be throwing splitters and cutters wrong. Every time I miss with them and they get any of the plate it’s a bomb
Splitters are realy just a good changeup for me. Cutters work really well when pairing with a slider and a Sinker. You can tunnel the same location with 3 breaks and 3 speeds. This is all difficultly level dependent too. If it's all star, it doesn't matter what you throw lol.
After having pulled only 2 Diamonds in what feels like hundreds of packs, I just pulled 3 out of 20 reward packs... Too bad they were Burnes, Betts, and Lindor.
Holy grind. And the Diamond game is awful lately… have packed worthless Semien 3 times in the past week
Pretty confused on the POTM. It moved me stage 2 after doing all moments and the collection. I didn't have/get to do the Topps Now missions in stage 1 for 10 points. I'm not in stage 2 and have done all of the moments, the Topps Now missions, but I only have 3 POTM cards. The other missions are all POTM cards and I don't have them. I can get 300 points with the 3 I have and that'll unlock a 4th one at 110 points but that's it. I'm at 108 points and can't get to 125 where the next one would be. Is there a way to go back to stage 2 to get the 10 points for the Topps Now mission?
I don’t think you can get points from earlier stages. I was working through it last night and you have to do every available XP mission and collection to get to stage 3 (all moments, the stage 2 collection, the stage 2 topps now XP, 3000 POTM xp, 2500 hitter xp, and the XP for the six POTM cards you unlock before Rizzo)
Fuck it, I'll just buy all of the POTM cards so I can do all of the missions at one time. Doing 3 cards at a time would take way too long. I'll buy the cards and then sell them after I get them. I'll lose the 10% tax but whatever.
I got the same impression, I’m grinding events so I don’t care about speed until I get Story. I’ll probably do the same just to be done with it, I don’t think any of the cards will stay in my lineup beyond the event, definitely not a pitcher.
Serious question, PS4 and 5 gang here. Does anyone know how to steal? They seem to have nerfed it some, but I’d venture to guess they changed some mechanics as well. I consistently pick people off on base and I don’t even pick off much, generally pick my pitch and throw as quickly as possible. I’d also venture to guess I gun down 95% of chances taken online against me.
