Pitching feels slightly less precise. We had a lot of fun last night matching up against each other in ranked 2 v 2 games on Diamond dynasty or 2 v 2 with real teams. The real team games tend to be higher scoring, but it was fun either way.
I always love the beginning of the year with live series players. When the God squad season starts, like 99 overall everything, I start to lose interest. Edit: I am okay with God squads, I get it, I just am saying I’d be content with live series or regular teams for different portions of the game as it evolves.
See the thing right now is that everyone has God Squads in the tech test and it’s not a HR or K game. Lot of balls dropping in the OF. More grounders get thru for hits. Defense in general is much tougher (diving/sliding/reactions seem significantly nerfed) And right now everyone’s players are 110-125 in hitting stats across the board. It’s a good sign for the game
PCI placement is the overwhelming factor in hit quality in tech test instead of timing it feels like. And they def nerfed early swings.
id like that and some other mode that somehow allows you to play with all the cards in between. So many cards you use for like 3 games for Monthly/programs and then never again. If you do collections I’d guess you don’t even use half the cards you pick up. Also not saying this should be some long grind, just an option outside current path or gameplay.
Thought so. Would be nice to have a permanent option to play ranked games with a 90 or 92 overall team cap.
Or different events spanning over the time frame. Some of them just turn into facing the same unhittable dude repeatedly and I can’t imagine that’s fun for anyone.
Interesting, kinda hard to explain. Just watch. Basically every 6 weeks we get a new set of cards and you'll only be able to use cards from 2 sets at a time, like 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, etc. So now they'll have high 90s day 1, no starting with 90 overalls. So you'll get some 99s in set, play with them for season 1 and 2, then they are gone. You'll have the high 90s from season 2 and 3 to use then.
honestly I dig the change. I'm about over FIFA so I think this will draw me in to switch back to The Show this year
Ehh batters will be better too. My first thought is it'll be HR or nothing right away like it normally ends up after a few months. Early when you're playing a lot of guys with sub 100 power you get a lot of singles and doubles. After a few months there's enough 115+ power guys that it just ends up being a ton of HR and K's and then it's no fun.
My friends and I had more fun playing normal coop than we did playing DD coop. Actually were able to string together hits and could see the ball since it wasn’t coming in at 102. Even last year I had more fun playing franchise. The game actually played pretty good when the players weren’t super juiced.
I’ve read different things about the way this will be deployed. Supposedly seasons where you have 99, then you can’t use them, who knows? I’d be interested to see if they do the whole 99 thing all along and then revert back to building up a squad again. Could be into that, hate the juiced game.
There will be some core players who can be used at all times. Then there will be sets which are seasonal use cards. There’s also going to be a wildcard slot that you can use on out of season player. So, if there is a season where you can use set 2 and set 3 cards, you could put a set 1 card in the lineup as your wildcard.
in our collective experience in the Beta hitting was easier than it was in last years game. Easier in the sense that you could see the pitch and react instead of having to guess fastball and swing immediately right at release when facing 99 Randy. Pure 102 speed didn’t seem as fast as last game. this was also using basically all end-game cards as far as ratings go and the games were much much less “HRs or Bust” than the previous two games when using elite hitters and elite pitchers.
also the feedback I heard from Pinpoint users was that you can't correct a fucked up motion simply by having perfect down stick timing on the release like you could last year. So dotting using pinpoint is a lot more difficult and hopefully makes hitting a little easier. no clue if they fixed the pinpoint infinite stamina bullshit from the past two years. that's been my #1 complaint since they introduced PP as a pure analog guy. Your dude shouldn't still be green stamina after 100+ pitches
Pulled Cole my first pack. I’ve only looked at the game briefly but seems like there’s a lot more content this year. Just cruised around once but the programs and options seem vastly more than last year.
Forgot to even pre-order it smh. I'm still liking 2k a lot, not sure I'll even buy The Show. Idk maybe I'll buy it just to Play Now and BR. Definitely not grinding for a good ranked team. That shit ate up way too much time.
Looks like the AL and NL rewards are better than the collection. Jeter is very underwhelming for a collection rewards bc the game plays heavily toward power.
Really? Everyone I play regularly with really likes it. It's waaaaay better this year than the last 2 years. There's actually a skill gap this year, which is awesome. That just wasn't the case the last few years.
I got lucky with the first 50 pack bundle I bought. I got the 99 WBC Shohei with my chase pack. The shitty thing is that the game wouldn’t let me use him as the DH in ranked co-op. He either can’t be DH or there is some trick I’m missing, which takes a lot of the fun for me since co-op ranked will be one of my most played modes
Does that card have multi-position capability? I know they added it this year but I think that card is a closer card, not sure if it can be used as a hitter too.
Anyone have a good summary of all the changes to DD? Not sure if I’ll play this year, but if I can get it free on GamePass I might still download it and play when I can. Haven’t kept up with the changes though.
Have a friend who still plays 2K22 so I got it on sale, we have a group of 3-5 who play together and it’s not bad. I haven’t played since 18 maybe. Still some stuff that makes me rage, but it’s been fun to play since we have a full team mostly. I’ve heard 23 is better though. I don’t play enough video games in general anymore to get too nit picky about stuff must of the time. Unless it’s a complete disaster or the game is unplayable.
Looks like I can still pre-order, guess I'll cave and buy this damn game. I just don't have the same amount of time I did in 2020 now.
The last 2 years, I was done with 2k by like Christmas. Offense was waaaay too easy. It was first team to miss loses and that miss was normally some fluke bullshit. It was impossible to consistently get stops. We normally have 80%+ win %. We were at like 60% in 21 before I just quit playing it. There was just no skill gap, you were at the mercy of the RNG. Dunks were so OP in 21 and 22. You could hit consistently with 65 3 ball. Just really dumb shit. This year's game is way more balanced. But yea, 2k is a completely different game when you're playing with a squad. Playing with randoms is abysmal.
That's only $1100 though. That's a decent bit cheaper than last year iirc. Last year was like $1500-1600. It should get cheaper over the next few weeks too.
