Probably the only game I’ll get in tonight and I get a Diamond 1 who’s record was about 20 games over .500 He starts Kluber and I’m down 1-0 early, I then put up 4 and he takes him out after 2 1/3 but brings in fucking Hal. Now I’m down 5-4 after 3rd because my game glitched on what have been an inning ending double play (he scored one). Then the next AB he hits a gapper.
That's usually how I am. If they have a bad record or a team I don't mind going up against, I'll decline. But it's always in the back of my mind that what if I decline and they destroy me. Just had a guy request one and his team was probably about the same as mine but I ended up accepting it because I wasn't a fan of the stadium he picked.
Statesman is usually my default because I like the batters eye and you can play day or night games without a glare. Played someone who picked Griffith Stadium the other day and wanted to break something. It's 405 down the LF line. Had about 3 shots fall 5-10 feet short of the wall that would've been no doubters anywhere else.
Down 1, bases loaded, bottom of 9th, one out. Perfect contact, WHACK, directly at 2b for routine double play to end the game. Nothing more frustrating.
That new fucking Kris Bryant card hit two opposite field bombs on non-hanging sliders low and outside from Eck and Fingers on me.
Waiting a little bit but once his price comes down I may use some stubs to get his card. I love his swing and hit really well with his gold version.
Got Mariano in the wee hours of this morning. Sold him. Can’t believe he was at 90k still. I can easily get four usable card for that.
I bought Orel’s TA3 card, didn’t hate it but didn’t love it, actually ended up selling it last night and came out 6K stubs ahead. So now I’m back to 178Kish, so maybe I’ll end up getting that Bryant card. Also realized I’m like 11 IP away from prestiging Oswalt to a 95...will be my first “blood diamond” card (as they say on Reddit—if that’s offensive please disregard).
I got 95 Oswalt last week or so and I really like him. My lowest rated SP in my rotation but probably my favorite. Bryant will most likely be as cheap as he's gonna be tonight or tomorrow because that's when he won't be in packs any more and they release a new headliner. There's a chance he might drop a little in several weeks if there's a market crash or something but it's hard to ever know for sure. Spoiler I say that and now he'll probably end up at like 20k over the weekend knowing my luck...
Probably the most nerve racking but most fun game I've had this year. We both had a couple of guys get gunned down at the plate in the early innings. Then after that just kept trading blows the whole game. I had bases loaded with 1 out in the 8th and got nothing. He had two inning ending double plays with two guys on base in the 9th and 10th innings. He brought in Hal in the 11th and I was pissed. Ended up not working out for him when Griffey Sr. took him deep to walk it off.
I hit a three run shot off Rivera last night with Reynolds in Events. No idea how, the difficulty is on HOF so for me to even make contact is an act of God. Upper right corner of the zone as well. Need one more RBI, I can only assume it will take a solid 50 PA to get that.
Yeah I can never time the market really, I figure at this point with all the new cards it’s not terribly hard to get high diamonds for cheap...so not as worried about hanging on to stubs for future releases.
Looks like KB card has gone from 73Kish to 86Kish now. Easily the most I’ve ever spent on a card but I’ll have around 90-100K stubs left so whatever I guess.
Im in the market for a 1B too. So he might get a look as well. The nice thing with KB card is he’s got 1B CF RF LF as secondary positions and I believe his defense only goes down from diamond to gold when in those spots.
Has Thome’s defense been OK there? The biggest reason the Bryant card has my attention is for whatever reason his swing/timing really worked for me as a gold. So I’d hope his diamond works better. (Probably not lol)
lol was messing around to sell Bagwell because I wasn’t a huge fan of his swing...accidentally clicked quick sale. So I guess he gone.
Yea no issues so far. No errors. Probably doesn't have the best range but most games have 15 K's anyways so he may field one ball a game lol.
Welp the buy order for KB went through, let’s see if I can get a W over lunch. Can’t wait to report back I went 0-4 with him.
is hitting any easier? I stopped playing a couple months ago because I was tired of everything being a K or HR
Whatever difficulty the level after spring training is might just switch batting modes to the non pci ones. Way too much work to swing a bat
I can't remember the parts of the season but anything below about 600 seems to be ok for hitting. Once I get above 600, it's a wrap.
I like him a lot. He's probably my best pure hitter. Line drive base hit and doubles guy. He may have my highest average outside of Cobb.
Yeah honestly the more I look at that card it’s not bad at all. Real high contact and vision, high enough power, plus a good fielder.
I bought the 97 Jason Kendall card we’ll see how I like him. If not, I’m going back to my guy Garver even though he’s like an 80ovr. He rakes for me but his arm is atrocious behind the plate.
Tried to play a game just now and matched up with a guy who was 237-253. How do you have that much time to play that many games? Was a close game until about the 7th or 8th and it went from 4-6 to around 4-11 real quick when I had to go to my pen.
Whenever I see a record like that I assume it’s a college kid or something who’s been home since COVID, or someone who may have very flexible work from home situation lol
Man was in a slump. Lost 4 straight, couldn't hit shit. So of course I get matched up with this lineup. I mean lol. Record was solid at like 102-85. Mattingly was in a slump, like 1 for his last 12 iirc. Avg had plummeted. Caught a hanger in the 2nd though. Hal went 8, Mo shut it down. Fucker turned off his game before i could catch the final pop up so I didn't get to look at stats. That's my first really good game with Hal. Honestly I've been kinda shifty with him. Much better with Feller.
Had a classic 13 inning Hal and Kluber starting against two assholes who can’t hit game last night. Won 1-0 off a Soto bomb, think it was my third hit of the game. There are tons of guys with better numbers but I swear I hit better with that FOTF Soto than any of my high 90s guys.
Nothing more frustrating than pitching a good game, probably left my guy in 1-2 batters too long but he wasn’t getting knocked Around. Fucking perfect release down and away slider, game decides to leave it straight down the middle, 3 run bomb.
My loudest FUCK comes when I'm playing one of the guys that obviously hold the left stick down so I'm throwing high heat after high heat that they swing through. I get cute and want to show offspeed in the dirt and have an early release that ends up in the bottom of the zone and they hit it to Jupiter.
