been a couple of years since i joined this game but have an interest in playing a game at some point how often are y'all still playing?
Busted day 3, lost 3-4 standard flip spots against shorter stacks, had a run of bad boards with my good hands, ran JJ into KK to end it. Was fun, but the grind wears on you especially when things aren’t going your way. Idk how people play these big field tournaments regularly.
they put this guy on the pokergo stream for a few hours a couple of days ago and i was looking for every possible way to have him killed through youtube just horrible and non-stop for hours
I’ve played a bunch with Chad Power who’s top 5 in chips right now - he’s a sketchy dude, ran a stable and the private games at MGMNH in DC, moved to Vegas and runs private games there with minor celebrities like Steve Aoki, some old athletes, and a lot of shady businessmen that can never really articulate what they do or how they make their money. Had his house robbed for a million a few years ago. He is a good player though. Adam Hendrix, 8th in chips, was also a DMV guy, played the biggest PLO games and then started traveling the tournament circuit - he’s very good and good dude.
this kassouf moron got himself kicked out of the tournament and banned from future events just for being an asshole lmao
So much luck needed to win with that big of a field but he definitely needs less luck than most. From 3 BB to winning it is wild.
Unbelievable win!!! Old school player that can still do his thing in today's game. That A on the river against pocket KK yesterday probably made him additional 8 Million dollars.
He nailed it in the interview when they asked him what is it going to take to win it all on day 2 of the final table. He said, “about an hour”. Ha. Great run
I met some poker play in Vegas when I was there for March Madness. He had just won like 5 Million in December at a WPT event. I was just asking questions since I really don’t play anymore. Hearing stories about 95% of the guys we grew up watching are complete scum and thieves. It was very sad. Basically saying everyone is in debt to everyone else. Some big names are known to sell like 300% of their action and lose on purpose to make money
Absolutely, ESPN did an insane amount of cleaning up poker’s image when in reality that stuff was always there. Remains wild how obvious scammers/cheaters just continued to be allowed to play.
I played professionally from 2006 to 2011. Playing poker for a living is incredible stressful. I had a lot of fun during that time, but it was only possible because I was single with no kids. Now I'm married, with 2 kids and there is no way I could support a family with the up and down swings of poker. You have good runs in poker and can ride a hot wave for a year or two. The variance that inevitably happens in poker over a long period of time can catch up to players, especially the ones that have bad bankroll management. I truly believe in order to make a good living in poker for a long period of time you have to have 1-3 other revenue streams. A lot of top pros these days, have sponsors, work for a training sites, etc . . . Which brings in money outside of their actual play. Poker is a fun hobby now for me and that is the way I like it. The worst feeling in the world is rolling up to your local casino, not in the mood to play, down 8K in the last 3 days and rent is due next Monday . . . But you have to play because it's your job.
I think I've told the story but when I was 19, I hit the bad beat jackpot in Hard Rock Tampa. Than thats what made me want to do it. The grind of poker for 3 months was too much and I focused on sports full time. I still almost moved to Vegas to do it for a living in 2011/2012 just never committed. Just still do it, this year not as much because life and work has been crazy.
Pretty much the same story I tell people. I did it for a living right off college from 2005 to 2008. I can’t imagine doing it now with family/kids/mortgage/etc.
I will play any of you professional gamblers rn straight up for $100 Loser sends the $100 to St. Jude and posts proof
I hit for $24k with the winning hand. Had 67 diamonds. Flop was 345 all diamonds. I was in Small Blind, Big Blind had A2 of diamonds
You obviously aren’t solely limited to gambling to make money. The shit I’ve seen just from 2+2 involves rampant dealer abuse, unpaid loans, general scumbag behavior, etc. Eli Elezra seemed like a decent guy on High Stakes Poker but in reality a scumbag degen. The whole loaning people money because they’re on tv is so stupid.
