Some quick updates. I just got the proofs back today from River Roots. We are looking at April/May release due to bottling delays and new label formats. We are currently also considering lining up 2 more picks, a Nashville Barrel Company (hopefully Kelvin MGP 8 yr - amazing) and a River Roots brand new double oaked Kentucky bourbon (I have no other details yet). Stay tuned...
can I modify my initial selection to add more bottles? (apologies if this has already been asked and answered. I'm enjoying some sunday libations)
FYI, not counting outsiders (of which there are quite a few) we have reservations for 120 Rye'd or Die and 118 LeeRye Jenkins so far.
If we like this, there is a chance it comes well before the River Roots. Nashville Barrel Company - 7 Year Heaven Hill Double Oaked in Kelvin Barrels. No idea on price yet, but hoping to come under $100.
I'm saving this year's bourbon allotment money for your picks..... ...so I feel better at laughing at 13th in the table....
A few updates... Still no ETA on the two picks we have coming We rejected the NBC Heaven Hill. Didn't meet our standards and we would only do something that each of us would be willing to buy a case of. James (owner of NBC) is sending us Kelvin MGP samples instead. Should arrive next week. I have some River Roots Green River Rye samples that are supposed to arrive today that I am hearing very good things about. It is also well priced. We already have a name picked if we do go with the Green River - De-RYEing Gravity. "Everyone deserves a chance to rye." (Now with wife friendly labels.)
We are trying our best to get a bourbon, but most importantly making sure it’s a good one. this NBC Kelvin MGP should be the best bourbon we’ve ever picked
Just tasted 2 of the new rye samples, and these are bourbon drinker ryes. Absolutely delicious and according to Cam who runs Drums & Drams, 2 of these are top 5 level. I think there were 30 or 40 barrels.
Medically can't drink for the forseeable future, but I can't fucking wait for these. Great work NYGator and Keef
My god I just now saw this and I'm behind on the bourbon page. Had a panic attack thinking I might have missed out. Just signed up for 3 bottles . Feel better now.
WTH… RockHardJawn39 pperc Detlef Schrempf rv12 Leeroy Jenkins! @buzz @kentucky_dawg….nah just kidding screw kentucky_dawg
A few updates... We are likely moving forward with a 6 year River Roots (half barrel) of Green River 100% rye. It will be priced at between $82-87. It is not our favorite pick but it is well priced, and as a result we are getting access to some really good perks, including... moving up our two 12 year MGP rye picks to the next few weeks access to a 11 year 4 month old Heaven Hill barrel, which is 1 of only 3 that River Roots ever had to offer. I have both of the other two and they are excellent. Samples are arriving for that later this week. That will be priced at around $125 cost to us. The plan would be to release both at the same time, in order to save on shipping costs and make it more palatable overall. We would try to push that until June/July, so a few more months of aging on each as well. We are also sampling three NBC Kelvin barrels this week, and will report results back soon. If this doesn't work out we may have to punt on NBC until we can go down there and get more access. One of the fun/cool things about the Green River rye is our chosen concept. I think people may want this one for the label alone, and it is somewhat wife friendly as long as they are ok with bonk. This still has some cleanup work to do, but this is the main concept...
Looks like NBC has started to bottle some hazmat kelvin barrels in the past couple weeks. Local group here got one and I just saw they posted one on their instagram story. 34xx run of barrels.
That is insane. I only saw one, and it was a short barrel. I haven't seen anything mentioned about multiple barrels.
Not sure about the one they posted yesterday, but the previous ones I saw were not offered in the gift shop and were only available privately. Unfortunately I didn’t have access, just knew about them. I’ll keep a look out though. Can maybe run by the gift shop today to check it out.
I forgot that I saw another one a week or two ago that was 135 proof. So while not hazmat, still higher proof than most of the NBC stuff I've seen previously.
