This election in GA is more important than the presidential election, we could win the white house without GA but we can't do anything without these seats. If we get these seats we could reform the supreme court, we could fund social programs, we can fight climate change, we can protect voter rights, we can end gerrymandering. Let's make it happen. Let's get these fucking seats. 1. Anyone with knowledge of georgia politics please take the lead on your area of expertise. I am just starting the thread, not running any of this, we need you to take the lead here. 2. Post ideas on how we can get involved from across the country. 3. If we have people planning to fly in to canvas and you have an extra room for a few nights and are willing to host a TMBer, let's connect people and make it as easy as possible. 4. We need to make a guide for posters looking to phone bank and text bank. 5. We need info on the best places to donate money. We should set a goal as a group for hours donated and money donated. Here are the key dates we need to know. It's really going to happen fast. While all these Trump people are mad about elections we need to get to work. Candidates in the runoff will face another election on January 5, 2021. Voters can request and absentee ballot starting November 18. The deadline to register to vote for the runoff is December 7. Early voting for the runoff will begin on December 14, 2020. I support this thread and will volunteer some of my time. Not in a position to donate money at the moment. I wonder how accessible phone banking software would be for us? If we set up our own tmb phone bank thing it might drive higher engagement. Could compete for number of calls with others on the board.
As someone that’s phone/text banked for multiple candidates, I doubt it’s something that’s doable. Best way is probably just to sign up under whatever apparatus they have set up. Of course we can / should share our experiences here. What has worked to engage people, what hasn’t ect.
I don't think there will be a lack of money thrown at this. If people can commit to a few hours here and there we can swing this. Remember this is probably going to come down to who can get their voters to the polls, not changing people's minds, this could also be a few thousand vote margin.
I will get on this next week while watching the Masters Out of town Texting and Phone Banking is easy. Also will make sure we get tmb donations to the right places
If anyone isn't going to travel you can write postcards to voters, I got a couple myself. https://www.gapostcard.org/ Otherwise hopefully people are going to be organizing canvassing in Atlanta proper as well as the immediate suburbs and suburbs in the blue surrounding counties like Gwinnett and Cobb.
Saw Queen Abrams video said to donate at gasenate.com which redirects to this: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/georgiasenate
I swear to god if our Legislature, Secretary of State, and Governor do not have some special session to reform the vote tabulation If we dont start counting the Runoff races until the night of the election it may never get finished.
Fair fight and other organizations really need to get people to turn their ballots in extremely early, seem like a lot of the Metro counties and especially Fulton had a ton of later arriving ballots. I guess I trust the voting machines enough to still do it in person if they didn't completely rig it for Trump, so that's not an issue it would be quick to deliver results.
I meant, I am going to give up as much of my time as possible. Instead of just dropping off $ to ActBlue and acting like that does a damn thing. Inspired by all the Middle and South Georgians that said enough is enough.
I don't know if you're allowed to add personal details, but I got a couple this cycle that were fairly generic and it's not any better than a flyer imo. If you can say even a few words about you, the writer, I really think it would be more powerful.
I think I'm going to go the postcard route and text bank when it's available. I like the postcards a lot and I can easily get my family involved and committed to write 10 or 20 a day. Text banking is also a no brainer
Want me to stop sending these annoying spam texts? You must vote for me or I WILL run again and continue spamming the shit out of you.
I don't have my finger on the pulse of everything on Georgian voters' minds, but given the ACA case in the Supreme Court right now, if any of you are going to help write postcards perhaps a simple message of "a Democrat controlled Senate will ensure preexisting conditions are covered" is likely going to be very effective.
