Good Shit guys thanks Alpine and Sugar Bowl are close to our place. Feel like if I can surf, wake board, and ski on water I can figure my shit out on that Hotwheels mellow. Not really worried about drinking on the slopes will get that out of my system watching the 12/28-29 bowl games. Assuming the 30-31st will be pretty busy hopefully I can avoid too much of a crowd at least the first day
I love that Sherwood is already open, took until March last year... I've been going to Squaw mostly this year but Alpine is looking good for me with that small storm on the 24th
Lucky24Seven UrsaGrande any other guys that know the area... not skiing related but any suggestions on date dinner spots in that same north side area of the lake? Maybe a couple options for fun or interesting/unique spots and then a couple fancy panty-wetting spots normally look at Eater website but comments on the eater.sf for that area the locals in comments don't approve of the list at all
River Ranch. If you’re going South toward the lake from Squaw or Alpine, it’s just past Alpine on your right. It’s a dope restaurant/hotel right on the river with a great bar area right next to the river. Edit: Picture
The River Grill in Tahoe City is a nice place, slightly more upscale. For brunch the old post office in carnelian bay. Also kind of fun is Garwoods in Carnelian Bay.
Didn’t feel like slogging through rays rut to get over there today. Laps on Scott instead until it started to rain.
What all clothing items do people wear for snowboarding/skiing? Sweatpants + snow pants Shirt + hoodie + jacket ?
Go down to meadow if you can. The food on the mountain was pretty awful, IMO. Although I didn't make it up to apres ski place. Scissor Bills was a pretty solid dive bar. Michaelangelo was pretty solid Italian Lone Peak Brewery
More technical base layers than cotton sweatpants/hoodies. Dotn want cotton Gloves, socks, hat, balaclava, etc
Won’t be as bad as last weekend, but will still be packed. When I lived in Vail I’d choose to work as much as possible between mid December and mid January to avoid the crowds.
Got 10 fresh inches in northern MI on NYE. Skiing sucked all wknd before hand, but started dumping around 2pm on Monday. Went inside to watch the shitty MSU bowl game and came back at like 7pm for some amazing night skiing
Was supposed to go to Mount Bohemia in the UP for nye but they didn't get enough snow to open until tomorrow. Huge bummer but what can you do.
Haven’t had any fresh snow since I got here last week and got strep throat the first 2 days here Finally got out today went to a smaller family owned spot Donner Ski Ranch bc the people we’re staying with are members and half-day lift and rentals was only $75 total Basically went up to the top of one side that had a green going down the entire side of the mountain and said fuck it I’ll make it down sooner or later. Call me snowplough. Did that shit a lot. Mostly because still fatigued real bad from being sick and on meds. Figured out the normal skiing/turning okay and only ate shit about ~8 times total in 2.5 hours. Half day rental was from 12:30-4 gonna get goin early tomorrow and do a full day at Alpine I think. Decided to do a little sight seeing in the Donner area since we heard there were some good views. Did not disappoint This was from Donner Summit. Which I completely blanked on the name until my dad said something about eating one another up there. So now a group of us are gonna eat some edibles and watch The Donner Party documentary tonight
Have done a lot of our eating in the Truckee area. Place is straight out of Red Dead Redemption. Pretty badass old western vibe. Morgan’s seafood is outstanding. Lobster rolls at lunch one day and got some salmon and lobster to cook for dinner another night. Marty’s diner and Old Town Tap pizza both very solid. And had NYE dinner at The Lodge up here was fantastic. Hoping to be able to make a trip out here once a year to stay at this house since it’s the GF’s best friend+husband that own it / are gonna rent it out.
Its been a while but I think we ate at Bucks T-4, which was about a 20 minute uber down the road from the resort. Was good, little more upscale, lots of varieties of meat as well as wine.
hello yes skiing is the bees knees, but after a full day i get the boot saying. my arches are sore as hell. gonna need to do something before going 3 days in a row at the end of january. would low end boots and good inserts do the trick or nah? take some inserts and put em in the rentals? 34 and doing my 1st and 2nd skiing experiences so not really a regular... I'd maybe top out at one ski trip every other year, I doubt it's even annual bc the GF is a warm weather vacation person.
Honestly we always shop in Bozeman and cook our meals. That said, the nachos at the Moonlight lodge are outstanding. I’ll buy yours if you disagree.
Sounds like my brother and his fiance just stopped by. He was quite pleased with your offerings, sir! I'm not sure of my schedule yet, but will let you know if I have a chance to stop by myself. Want to have some of the Two Monks & A Gnome action
Depending on when you are going, you might catch Winter Carnival. https://mccallchamber.org/winter-carnival/ It's awesome. If you are going shortly afterwards, you can at least check out the snow sculptures. The Sushi Bar is killer. Salmon River Brewery is also solid.
Do y'all know of any half-season pass availability for Colorado? These single day passes are gonna fuck me.
Maybe I'm getting old now because I'm sore as hell from Vail. Vail>>>>>>>>>>Breck in terms of mountain
Does anyone know if you can buy tickets at keystone just for night skiing (not the full day lift ticket) and if so how much they usually cost?
Yeah I loved once I got back to the other side of the Mountain even on Saturday I didn’t have to wait more than a few minutes to be heading back up. So much area to explore.
Just stopped by there tonight with a couple buddies after a fantastic day at Steamboat. Great beers and great live music. If you were there or maybe even serving us, we sat at the bar and I had a Telluride hat on
I was there. Just left a bit ago. I was the one without glasses. Glad you enjoyed yourself. Steamboat must have been great with over 20 inches. Went to Arapahoe Basin this morning with a foot and that was all time.
I was there from the 5-12 Did 4 days at Breckenridge and one at Keystone. Keystone had some great runs but the day we went they airlifted a dude out in a helicopter and we heard there was a fatality so I guess it’s not for everybody
Skied Keystone and A-Basin last weekend. Snowboarding at Monarch this weekend. Really liked how chill A-Basin was. Keystone was full of people bombing beginner runs - really annoying.
If you mean Breck, then yes. They’ve had the highest death count. But Keystone just recently had one in the Outback
Steamboat was an all-time great day. The bar has been set for the season. But my two buddies who were with me last night live in Dillon and they didn’t know about your place but now they know. And they really liked it. I’ll keep sending business your way and I’ll keep stopping in when I’m out that way.
Much appreciated. Next time you're heading up PM me and maybe we can catch a few laps and drink a few.
Heading to Big Sky Feb 9-13. Excited to experience the new Ramcharger lift. Seats 8 with heated seats and a bubble. Seems really excessive.
Brother got back from JH yesterday. Said they have over 200" base and got a fresh 9" last Thursday when he was there. Said it was great.
