7 straight days of predicted snow in the inland northwest and British Columbia Going to be mighty sick next week.
No joke. We've gotten an awesome amount of snow this year, but no one can get anything open. Squaw posted something a few days back about being open until the 4th. Hoping we have a Miracle March and I can ski on my B-Day late July
Mine is late June, that would be a fun bday. More important than digging out, for me, is weather free drives up from the bay.
Parking lot status on the weekends on those drives right now. Going to Mammoth next week for at least a day or two. Bought a season pass and my fucknut friends haven't been able to go but for one trip, so I'll go alone and make new friends :(
At least your friends make an effort to go. My roommates turned into a snow snobs and and only ride in very certain conditions and mid week only. Riding alone sucks.
Me: I'll get a season pass if we go a lot this year Friend: for sure Me; $1,000 Friend: I enrolled in fire academy so I can't go during the week but weekends for sure Me; naw
I find skiing alone to be awesome. Plenty of days I've gone out for a solo day and had a blast. Don't have to wait up for anyone or slow anyone else down. Do what I want, when I want
For me, it has its place. When I'm out skiing, I really like tree runs and jumping cliffs and if I were to eat shit, it'd be nice if someone was around.
I like skiing alone, but I'm kind of an introvert, so being able to do whatever I want and not worry about anyone else is a dream scenario. It's not as much fun as skiing with someone I like skiing with, but I would go every day by myself if I lived near a resort.
Same. Sometimes I like the security of having a buddy in case I injure myself, but if not for that precaution I'd prefer skiing alone.
South Lake Tahoe was great for our 4 day ski trip. 2 days at Kirkwood, 1 at Heavenly, and 1 at Sierra at Tahoe. Would rank them Kirkwood, Sierra, Heavenly. Heavenly is too commercialized for my taste.
Finally got some powder today. Last day at my current job and all I needed to do was turn in my computer and other company stuff, so I opted to go out to Vail for the morning. They posted 6" but it seemed like more in a lot of spots.
I feel like I would miss so much work if I lived in an environment where Boarding was within an hour drive.
Some employers in Colorado are understanding of powder days. Mine just didn't really give a fuck today because I'm out the door, plus all my responsibilities were completed yesterday. My soon-to-be new boss is a backcountry skier (and also went to UF) so I'm thinking she is going to be understanding of dipping out early or coming in late for certain things.
I just have to put in 80 hours whenever I want during business hours for two weeks. Lot of built in powder/discount ski days /federal government life
If we get a decent storm and I come into work I get weird looks. We're encouraged to take time off and enjoy the outdoors.
That look steep. I'm planning on Alpine Sunday or Monday, staying away from Squaw and the WC races going on. Demo'd the Vantage 90 cti at Squaw last week, they're a lot of fun. Admittedly I can't really feel a lot of nuance between skis so 'fun' or 'not fun' is as good as I get. Laps on the groomers are a lot more fun during the week when they aren't skied out by 11am. Did a few runs on Siberia, laps over at Shirley, and a couple top to bottom runs with beers at Le Cham before going back up.
ust got back from my first trip to Vail. That place is massive but pretty nice. Pretty crowded on Saturday due to the Burton US Open being held there but it wasn't too bad. Snow was good.
Hanging out at the Yellowstone club in Montana this week. Tons of fresh snow and it's a ridiculous place. Nice to have a rich aunt and uncle. If you ever get an invite don't turn it down. /humblebrag

Gonna be almost 60 tomorrow. Coming down with a cough since I have almost 200hrs of sick time. Can't wait to ride some slush at Squaw tomorrow. Gonna be a killer spring day. Then getting sloppy at The Slot.
Enjoyed the slush at Alpine today. I feel like I did a good job of following the sun but by 1:30 it was just too heavy and not fun anymore. Also in continuing demo adventures, I have skied on: Blizzard Brahma Atomic Vantage 90 Volkl Kendo Honestly, they're all fun skis for me and I couldn't tell you any major differences for me. I suppose that's a point in favor of modern ski design in general.
Yep, Sherwood, to Lake View, and the rest of the mountain if you're following the sun. Dunno shit about Squaw, though. Going behind Enemy Lines tomorrow.
Moved up to Summit County in Colorado back in August. Being 15 minutes away from 4 different mountains has been incredible. Don't think I'll ever leave.
hah, thanks? How do you feel about squaw getting the upper mountain open tomorrow? I'm going up for the day with someone that's mostly a green/some blue level skier and I'm not sure just the lower mountain has enough beginner terrain for her to have fun.
Gonna be hit or miss. It's raining at my place and I'm around 7,000ft. I'd stay upper mountain for sure. Snow won't be great but y'all should have a good time. After today, I think the moisture should hold off until tomorrow afternoon for you two.
Powder Day in Tahoe last Thursday and Friday. Both days were dead and got some killer hikes and runs in. Heading back out this weekend. Glad all the chaos is over from this winter.
It was killer today. Hiked High Traverse twice and went all the way out on my last run. Heading to Sugar Bowl tomorrow.
Looking at planning a trip for this spring with SmoochieWallace tell me about solitude, good place to go to spend a few days? Pros cons? looking at doing a VRBO for 4 nights in the mountain village there.
Has it not snowed anywhere else in the country? about a week straight of snowing in the Northwest after not having any for about a month. Finally skied a few times locally. All runs and lifts open in area. Expecting to go up to Red Mountain in Canada in the next couple of weeks. If I die, I die
