Orange AM1 shipped today. This is my favorite shoe in a while, super pumped.
I know the pics you're referring too and it has me worried too lol
based on the measurements they have on the site, they run about an inch and a half shorter than their regular hoodie line
seems like they went more with a sweater style cut, which makes sense given the material
They didn't post sizing/pricing at all before release. That annoyed me. Hell half the pieces in the collection weren't even posted in any pics prior to the drop. They are core collection pieces, not Monday or a collab, so I can send them back if I need to.
Any recommendations for a good all around walking shoe?
Trying to be fancy or just something functional to beat up?
Do you need support or just cushioning? Do you know if you over pronate?
I like ultra boost the most because I under pronate and like how squishy it is. They make more supportive versions with boost if you need it. Also Hoka, the mention of which will get me murdered in this thread. If you need a stability shoe, something like a Brooks Beast would be good.
Go for function first. Start by looking at the wear patterns on your current shoes. If it’s more to the inside you’re going to want something with stability. Most runners and waking shoes are built for this. If it’s really even or mostly to the outer edges, go for neutral shoes.
The shoes companies build support into the inside of the midsole to counteract over probation, or where your foot turns over too much past flat as it hits the ground and pushes off. They basically put a wedge in between the inside of your foot and the ground to keep it flat. If you under pronate this is bad for you as you already don’t get your foot quite to flat and stay on the outside of your feet. This is where a neutral or barefoot shoe is good because it doesn’t stop your foot from turning in.
For example my shoes tend to be worn as hell along the outer edges and as you get to the inside they look almost new. Standard arch support running shoes hurt my feet because of this.
Nike Pegasus is an all around good walking shoe. New Balance 992’s, Brooks Ghost, Hoka Cliftons are good places to start. I’m a PT and what racer said doesn’t show much support in research, although it’s commonly referenced. Not trying to single him out or anything but that stuff is a mostly a myth. Two biggest recommendations I have is to make sure they are instantly comfortable (as in, they should feel great the second you put them on, and fit your foot’s natural motion) and make sure they are wide enough, especially in the toe box. When that is too narrow and basically pushes your toes together from the sides, and can lead to a host of problems. For 99.9% of people, over-pronators, supinators, excess hind foot motion, etc doesn’t matter much.
Don’t sleep on Epic Reacts. Put 100k+ steps on a pair at Disney and my feet could have done 100k more.
Yeah, I love mine and have several pairs. Find them a bit narrow though. Great shoe.
You’re right they are. I have a somewhat narrow foot. I feel like I read they fixed that some with the flyknit 2s but never got a pair.
Yea 2s are much better but they are getting hard to find. My outlet had a lot of them a little while back though.
Bred lows come out Tues for Nike members.
I won’t argue with you on this. It has always made sense at a glance, so I never really questioned it. Weird that it’s accepted and taught so widely. When I was at a major retailer several brands and running association types provided trainings that centered around this, so naturally I thought this was the approach to take when fitting customers.
My Hibbetts fucked up. They were on the shelves Friday. I saw them and was like damn I didnt know those came out. Even checked StockX to look at the prices. Never even looked at the release date to see that they werent supposed to be out yet. When I got that notification from Nike I laughed and said well damn.
i would have grabbed them. Never had lows but bought a few pairs recently and like them. The price makes them an easy buy
I’m loving these
Which are these? Big fan.
Ultraboost or epic reacts if you want something not too expensive. Yeezys if you want the most comfortable shoe you’ll ever wear but they aren’t cheap.
Yeah I really like those.
Who are you and what did you do to Dan?
You'll be King of the block in the Nike monarch
I went with a pair of ASICS shoes; I didn't pay attention to racer because he was mean to me about my boneless chicken wings.
that’s a good old white guy walking shoe for sure
what about nuggets?
I was wrong about one of these things, but it wasn’t the chicken.
The one time it's ok to have a pair of Reebok's
I don't see a pump bubble on those
Reebok Pump >
if you have a narrow foot/toe cage then nike reacts are fine, but if you have a wide foot/toe cage then UBs and imo UB 4.0 bc of the ankle collar
welcome to shoe debt
You mean chicken tenders?
chicken nuggets, if you want to be pedantic, not tenders
Did you try the ER2? They fixed the narrow issue imo.
I bought 2 pairs of Epic React Flyknit 2
is that what you are talking about?
this is the best shoe advice I ever received as a youth and I still use it to this day when helping people pick a shoe
Yea the Epic React 2. They were wider across the forefoot area. The ER1 was a little tight there. They stretched out but the Er2 was good out of the box.
the ones I bought were still too narrow for me
These shoes fuck.
Agree, one of the better looking shoes of the year. My pair were pretty uncomfortable though, not near as comfy as the other new 90's. Not sure if it was the insole or thick material on the upper. Need to wear them again to see if they break in.
Yall gotta quit posting that pair of 90's. Youre gonna make me fuck around and buy them.
That smiley really should be taken off the board and shame on me for using it.
Yeah, I'm pretty shocked that one's still around.
I should. I just havent had the interest in much of anything lately. My dog got sick back in July and my world kind of stopped.Only thing Ive even tried for since then was the Fragments just to see if I could get them. I had to have her put down tuesday morning and its killed me inside. Fragments came that afternoon and theyre still sitting on the couch where I put them that day. I havent even had the care to open them up and look at them.
Well fuck. Really sorry, man. Hate to hear that.
