this is the perfect thread to discuss this in so thanks for bringing it up. I usually wear my Yeezys to places I’d have to walk a lot because they are extremely comfortable. I was going to go to knots a couple weeks ago and I was planning to wear a pair. Although all of mine are in great shape none of my are DS so I’d have to sell them on goat or eBay as worn and probably wouldn’t get a fraction of what they are worth because of all the shit going on right now. So it wouldn’t be worth it. I sure in fuck aren’t going to do the stupid maga shit of destroying them (burning or curing them up) so for now I plan on keeping and wearing them. I picked up my grandson and he was wearing some 350s. When the Travis Scott shit happened I didn’t get rid of my 4s. I’ll listen to West’s music still. There are more problematic artists than West who I still enjoy. It’s fucked up but I came to the realization a long time ago that if I wanted to enjoy art that was 100% free of bullshit my list would be very short. West is just the latest in a long line of asshlole artists. I’ll still enjoy Harry Potter, the chapel show, off the wall etc
Maaaaaaaaaaaaaan I had a friend that interned at Kith in NYC 2 years ago. If stuff sat for 24 hours, he could cop at 50% off iirc. Maybe it was 40%. Either way, it was great. Really was more for my daughter than me. She has soooo much KIth stuff bc it wasn't super expensive at that point. I did get a lot of the core stuff like JFK shirts and stuff like that. The Monday Program normally sells out so couldn't use it on that stuff. I'll tip the shit out of him if he can buy a bunch of stuff and ship it. If he wants to make some money on the side, I'd definitely work with him bc I wear it a lot. I wear Polo 90% in the summer and Kith 90% in the winter for some reason. Yesterday: Today:
That's fair. For me personally, I wouldn't want to be associated with the guy in any at all. Like my Betsy Ross am1. I think they look awesome but I'd never ever ever want someone to get the wrong idea of me wearing them. I wouldn't have thought twice before Kaep made an issue out of it, but after he did and Nike pulled them, I just wouldn't want someone to think I was that "Yea fuck that I'm still wearing, doing care who is offended" guy. Not saying you are, don't take it that way. Just saying me personally I'd never want to be associated with that fucker.
Like this Kith kids outfit is awesome imo but it's $205 for the top and shorts and she'll wear it for one season. And this little guy is just killing his pre-school.
I have less problem with wearing the ones you have than buying new ones - although to hear him tell it, Adidas has cut him out of everything regarding the shoe anyway.
it’s a fair criticism and I gave it a thought. To be clear I haven’t worn any of my Yeezys in probably a year because like I said I mostly wear them when I am going to do a lot of walking and I haven’t had to in a while. I just don’t have an issue with keeping them right now. If someone offered me a good price for them I’d sell them because I don’t wear them that often. I just am not going to destroy something I already paid for. Me destroying them doesn’t hurt him it just hurts me. I like his early music and I listen to Michael Jackson still and the allegations against MJ were far worse than what west has done imo so I’ll continue to listen to him. Also TBQH if I wore the Betsy Ross’ I probably wouldn’t get the same looks as you would. Being mixed will probably get me a pass were as you’d probably be unjustly stereotyped. For example my son’s FIL was wearing 350a this weekend at a birthday party we attended and no way in hell if you saw him you’d think “look at this anti-Semitic asshole” . It really depends on who is wearing the shit imo.
I find yeezys to be great for walking but they SUCK ASS if you are going to the concert with the lack of support while standing.
I'm trying to convince the gf to get the leopard print fit from KITH for her kid + some cat ears so I can wear my zookeeper outfit with him for halloween
How old is the kid? They did an animal print onesie in 2018 that I still have somewhere but she was barely 1 at the time so it's small. They were super convenient bc you didn't have to take the entire outfit off to change a diaper.
I have some stuff that she worse 1-2 times if you want it. It's just collecting dust somewhere. Hoodies, tees, shorts, joggers, etc.
I’ve come to the conclusion that p much everyone (but Keanu Reeves) is a pos so they’re all gonna do some thing at some time that will offend someone. As a person we can recognize the offense but we choose to be offended. Will I buy more? Don’t know. He’s p much out of everything and says he has been for years. Will I stop wearing the ones I have? Probably not. I’m way more offensive than the shoes I have on pretty much 100% of the time.
I dont really care either way, but in this day and age it's a permanent glass house scenario. There's no such thing as "woke consumerism". At some point we use a service that is shitty because that's just the american society and we can't really do much about it as an individual.
I’m somewhat joking but an idiot with no real power spewing nonsense isn’t as bad a donating to people who have power and can enact hateful policies.
Butch also has an 8 month old daughter, lol. she’s got a pair of pink AJ1 and Be True Cortez. Don’t think the Cortez will fit much longer. AJ1 are way too big.
Still wearing mine and buying any others that come out i like. I like the shoes and have never given a shit about Kanye. Same with Travis Scott’s stuff or anything else tied to specific people or companies. Theyre shoes and its really not any deeper than that.
it is really a weird thing. When the Travis Scott shit happen my daughter was scared to let my grandson wear his TS stuff. She asked me if it was okay for him to wear it when I took him out (not that she thought I’d care but that she wanted to make sure I’d watch him) I told her yeah and not to worry that no one would say anything to him while he was with me. It’s crazy that people really do care about shit like this.
Have some Zebras don’t think they are very comfortable, cool looking shoe though. They are a beater for me and have been for about a year. Wont buy anymore Yeezys not because he is a trash person but because the shoe ain’t that great IMO.
You rock Nazi logos or na? How about a Proud Boy logo? You wearing 1776 gear or na? Are people crazy to care about those? You can say that people shouldn't associated things with clothes but we all do it. Clothes can make statements. You may not be intentionally doing it but you are in a way doing it.
I don’t think the analogy you’re making is a good one . Wearing some cactus jack gear or some Yeezy gear isn’t remotely the same thing a wearing a swastika or an SS uniform. We have established that all commercial goods are problematic but saying hey those AF1 are just as bad a wearing a “camp holocaust” hoody is jumping the shark on this discussion and you’re better than that. We’re discussing the problem with regular goods not with actual racist propaganda and symbols. Going back to your Betsy Ross example, I wouldn’t think poorly about someone wearing those but I would think something about a guy wearing an SS lightning bolt shirt with 1488 on it. We are allowed to look at nuance and understand not everything is the same. Same goes with anyone wearing proud boy shit. They are an actual racist organization it’s not the same thing as wearing TS or KW gear.
My man, have you paid attention to what Kanye has been saying? I'm goin to give you the benefit of the doubt and say no. You really should have watched the interview before it was taken down. If you did watch it and still want to wear something associated with him, we're just different.
what he has said is vile. He isn’t remotely in the same world as actual Nazis or Proud Boys. Equating the them is disingenuous and it hurts your argument. In what world is someone wearing some 350 as someone being a Nazi. Saying this after the Nike/GOP shit is brought up is extremely weird and telling.
I didn't say wearing 350s makes one a Nazi. You were baffled why people can't separate clothes from what the are associated with. "It's crazy people care about this shit." What you wear says things about you. Kanye is a hateful person spewing gross shit. If you don't mind being associated with that, that's fine. I choose not to. Nike donating to some random GOP fundraiser sucks but I expect that from companies that play both sides. It's hard to find a company that doesn't.
I meant caring enough about it to harass a kid for wearing it. But, again someone wearing swastikas or proud boy gear isn’t wearing for fashion they are actual Nazi racist assholes whereas that’s not the case for the average guy wearing some gap Yeezy shit. They aren’t remotely the sane thing. One is purposefully making a explicit statement the other one can be misinterpreted. Nike donating to desantis in Florida isn’t some random gop thing.
Anyone harassing kids about anything is a weirdo. And idk man, if you know everything going on now and you're still wearing Yeezy shit, I think you're making a statement. You care more about wearing his shoes than the fucked up stuff he's said. If he'd said things about your family or your race/religion, you'd probably care a little more. When it's all calculated, I feel confident Nike (and 90% of other large companies) will have given close to equal to both sides. It sucks that it's that way but those companies don't want to be on some Disney vs Desantis shit and care about profits above all else. I wish more would stand on principles but they fear being a target if their guys don't win.
i literally said I haven’t worn any Yeezy stuff in over a year. You were being somewhat rational until the Nike GOP stuff was brought up and you went on your Nazi rant. Clearly the Nike stuff hit a nerve and you’re taking it personal. If you think wearing Yeezy stuff is even remotely close to wearing nazi or proud boy shit then there is no point in continuing.
I just can't get over the fact that every 2 I've ever seen looks like a literal mashup of a 1 and a 3.
