Did this but db press instead of flys and skull crushers for triceps. Did a long swim workout too but kinda wanna die right now.
Since your theme is garage gyms, I would ask about favorite accessories with minimal equipment since MOST of us aren’t getting equipment shipped to us to review...
I love my ugly ass underarmour lifting shoes. When I get to 425 on deadlift, will go for the fancy adidas shoes.
Lol. Came across an ig of a girl that looked familiar. She lifts at my gym. Don't see her bf in any of the pics lol. https://www.instagram.com/heidy.espaillat/ Would be funny if there was a video with me creepin in the bg hahahah
Bench 4x10, db inclines with 45lb, chest pullover, pec Dec flies followed by as many pushups as I could do. I am rolling out of bed tomorrow. Side note, my wife did sets of bench with 65lbs, pretty dang spiffy for her second month ever in the gym
Gross! It's either barefoot or me romaleos. And im not going to go barefoot at the gym. People that pull in their socks look silly.
I chuckle at this vitriolic hatred for SL5x5 and Starting Strength. It’s a gateway program, that’s it. It’s STARTING strength for a reason.
Team Chuck Taylor for all lifting...and yes, I've been to Rip's seminars...2x...extremely helpful when I first started out lifting. In fact, Rip switched me to low bar squat. IMO, his starting strength book is one of the top strength books ever written and a must read for any Novice. Would I want rip programming for a serious athlete? Hell No.
Rip has his merits then destroys his credibility with his dumbshit feuds with other pros in their fields. I used to post on his board when he got in a pissing match with Jon North and like a bunch others about why our USWL team sucks. He believes its because they don't LBBS. Literally.
Yeah, guy has never been wrong about anything...ever. He used to piss on guys like North and whatnot who said all the commie countries were using roids and doping and Rip shit on their excuse making and said it was just because we weren't 'strong' enough. Well...now we pretty much know, all those countries dope their asses off.
Is Mehdi the dude that simplified SS into the SL5x5 app and monitored Ripp’s work? Just guessing here.
Call USWL poorly managed all you want the LBBS wasn't keeping us off the podium. Look at where we are currently. There's a ton of interest in the sport now and we're doing a lot better. It's not because of LB.
Yes. He botched reg parks 5x5 (2 warmup sets) and named his program. There's literally no reason to follow his program outside of his lame app. I used to read his board before the pay wall and before he decided to make every cent imaginable off 100 pound twerps.
Stefi Cohen is actually a big proponent of squatting builds general strength which transfers to weightlifting. I’m not buying it. Strength is a skill and you need to spend time developing that skill. A high bar will build strength just as well. Low bar back squat
This is actually a good argument: Which side of the argument do you fall on? A) strength is a skill and needs to be developed specifically B) strength is general and you should rotate exercises to build general strength for specific lifts
Given the variability of plates like that, if I’m ever blessed enough to stand under 800+ lbs I hope they’re calibrated. I weighed some of our junker plates the other day and at how far off some were.
They’re a gym down in Franklin that weighed there’s an wrote on them how much they were so you could load the bar as symmetrically as possible. I really appreciated that
I prefer low bar bc it feeds my ego and feels good man. But on high volume days I actually switch between high bar and low bar to help with fatigue. The other day was 10 sets of 3 at 325 (smolov) Then a bonus round of: 3x3 at 365 Then 405 to failure There’s no way my wrists etc could tolerate all low bar. But I honestly have no idea what I’m doing.
