Are you the guy that benches more than he squats? Try stretching out everything from your upper hamstring through your quadratus on that side. Make sure you hit the hip flexors and note any tightness you feel on that side compared to the other. If you're still feeling that, start mixing in some hip thrusts at 12+ rep weight. Your glutes may need some work. Start doing some gluteus medius stretches every day and see how it feels before/after. Should be one of those things in there.
So squatting with me GoPro is helping. Already fixing dumb shit. Hit 455. 460 for 2 singles. And 405 4x2. On 3 hours of sleep.
I’ve thought about something like this. My phone camera sucks so my video quality isn’t too great for breaking down video. Plus, I have to stop the music so I can record
Top 3 all time will be awfully tough, especially considering that it's taken him this long to win his first. You can expect that over the next 5-7 years, he'll be splitting titles with Shaw, who's far from done, and Kiesleskowski (sp?), once he learns to deadlift. My top 5 of all time, in no particular order: Zydrunas--4 WSM titles, and that was after the whole IFSA fiasco Kaz--Won 3 consecutive titles and wasn't invited back for 4 years. Mariusz--The only man with 5 titles Jon Pall--Won 4 titles while competing against Kaz and Capes MvM--Won 4 titles, 3 of them consecutively and would have won his 5th if it wasn't for Ted van der Parre and the pesky Husafell stone. The only reason Brian isn't on the list is because he's still competing.
Dude. Stopping music is like kryptonite when lifting alone. I used to record at home for prs. But now I'm checking all my dumb mistakes out and I feel way more confident. I swear before I'd lean and figure I'm just weak don't push it. Now I'm like "no you just bounced it idiot control the decline"
I don't see it. Pudz was my guy back in the day too. Imo Shaw isn't beating Hafthor from now on. He's just in gear.
Lifting things as heavy as he does takes its toll. The time at the top of the mountain is usually short and you can be cut down by injuries in a second. Don't kid yourself, none of them would pass a drug test at today's WSM. It's a necessity to get that strong. Historically speaking, very few WSM competitors could have ever passed a test. Maybe someone like Pius Ochieng (the strongest competitor ever from Kenya) might have been able to pass a test.
He wasn't banned. He had his 2nd place finish stripped. They are tested for recreational drugs. Mariusz popped for coke. He did miss one WSM during his absolute prime due to being in prison for assault. He told me that he was defending a person who was being beaten up and that the original attackers turned out to be Polish mafia so he caught the rap. Funny story: Mariusz used to host contests in Poland back in the day. They would be huge events with 10-15,000 spectators. Because strongman is not the type of sport that's great for a live audience (too much time setting up for events and such), Mariusz used to make sure they ran at a breakneck pace. The competitors would do 3 events in about 90 minutes, break for lunch for an hour or two, and then come back and finish the contest. During that break, Mariusz would tell the guys that they have X amount of time to eat and rest and not to be late when the contest started back up. He'd then walk away with 2 or 3 gorgeous women in tow back to his private suite. He'd show up to the locker room in time for the contest to start back up, with more energy than he'd started the day with, most likely do to snorting stuff off those girls' asses. Mariusz is the fucking man.
Im done with volume. #Blessed I do have a clean workout Wednesday and a snatch workout Thurs which will suck though cause im going to San Jose Friday
Jon Páll Sigmarsson gets extra credit in my book for giving us this glorious quote: “There is no reason to be alive if you can’t do deadlift.” And then literally dying while deadlifting.
Jon Pall was awesome. If you ever get a chance to watch Pure Strength or Pure Strength 2, do it. He, Kaz, and Capes all going at it while in their prime is as good as it gets. They were the biggest rivals in competition, but the best of friends outside of competition. He also told Geoff Capes that he knew he wouldn't live to see 30 because of a congenital heart defect.
Got a real good workout outside today but what was I thinking doing deadlifts on grass(my backyard, didn't take gym weights outside or anything crazy like that) was terrible. Was quite nice out though
Last week of the volume block. Got a set of 5 pause squats @9 on Wednesday and a bench single @9 on Saturday. I’m probably gonna feel like a big ole bag of dicks after this week
My Achilles is like clicking/catching a decent bit lately. Never really "hurts" but a few of them will cause a little pain. What do I do. Happens a good bit when I run and some walking
Someone would call the cops on me if I dropped weights like that. 1 lady literally told a lifeguard I was trying to drown her when I was swimming butterfly next to her
Those squats are moving, man. Only thing I’d say is work on your dorsiflexion because you’re getting on your toes a good bit and that’s just leaking power
