RP diet update: down to 182 lbs so it definitely works. Fat loss 3 is a bit of a struggle but 2 weeks out from my goal date. May do the gain diet next
They are the fucking woooooorst. Only outdone by PowerliftingWomen. Glad they tagged you. Hopefully it’ll drive traffic to you
This is the second time they've tagged me... once before I got a lot of followers from it. This time not many at all so far. Either way, gets the name out there. Got my Sorinex quote and I'm currently refining it. As you would expect, it's not cheap, but it would be a rack I have for many years.
They're being quiet about it right now, but my Sorinex rep responded to someone on my post with "Stay Tuned." But as long as the rack is 3x3 with 1" holes, it will work as-is
Do you have the worksheets?? It's basically macros/meals per day that they give you suggestions and you fill out, right?? Was it hard to make the right meals? What was your before weight
Yeah it’s based off your weight and they send you a sheet for the base, fat loss 1-3 and maintence divided out by when you workout and whether it was a no train, light, moderate or heavy day for your protein, veg, fats and carbs. They give you lists of recommended foods and how much of each to eat. Meal prep was a pain but my fiancee is doing it to so she just did both of ours. It’d be difficult if you traveled a lot or didn’t have time to prep. I started at 207-205 lbs. It definitely allows you to keep muscle mass as I haven’t noticed anything other than just more definition. I was skeptical at first as it was so much food and I constantly felt bloated but I’d email them questions and just trusted the process. I had one cheat day and went all out and what I noticed is it didn’t effect my body like it used to.
Started first week of July on the base phase and last day will be 10/11. They suggest 4 months then take a break. They have a maintence diet that I’ll probably start after wedding week and decide if I want to do the gain one.
When I got here (3:45) there were 4 of us. Now there’s 11. Doesn’t feel crowded at all. Hit a nice PR of 473x3 @7.5. Building towards a heavy single in 2 weeks and I’m feeling on point
i watched a woman deadlift 315 on an axle bar 3x5 today. that was almost twice her bodyweight, it was something.
That woman needs to compete. Believe that’d be a new record. http://www.ironmind.com/certification/apollons-axle/rules-and-world-records/
At least I didn’t fail an easy weight at a very famous gym on the best equipment in powerlifting OH WAIT
Put the final touches on the Sorinex quote. Decided to go through with it. Need to finalize my business accounts for tax purposes, which should take a few more days, and then it's on. The rack is going to be ridiculously awesome. 6 post rack Adjustable jammer arms on front posts Laser-cut numbers on uprights Full drop-in safeties Full safety straps Spotter arms for outside of rack 2 pairs of sandwich J-cups Multi-Grip pull up on front Middle square crossmember for various attachments (probably grip work section) 10 weight storage posts on back posts Urethane pins/band pegs Landmine attachment Utility Seat for box squats, step ups, and whatever else 2 Roller pads for split squats, glute ham raises, etc... Custom colorway to match my logo scheme Custom back arch with logo and 'Garage Gym Lab' They're bringing it up to my place and installing it with me too, which is pretty awesome. I built a Rogue Monster rack with as close to the specs as I could get. It was only $600 less, and I didn't get the custom colorway, didn't get the custom arch, and I wouldn't get the customer experience with getting to install it with them. Then on the back I'm adding the Squatmax rack mounted belt squat. Practically having an orgasm just typing this.
That's embarrassing, even I can squat that Spoiler I failed on a 135 incline press because I pulled it out way too far. Tons of people around too and I was disgusted
Just pulled 500x2 @8. We’ve found what works for my deadlift. Single next week hoping to be 525-535 @8.5
After two months building strength back up after a low maintenance summer I was able to get 275x2 in squat with a third rep possibly out there. For reference my 1 rep max back in May when I left off was 275. 315 by end of year is in sight.
I've been doing the 7 week Barbell Medicine GPP/Hypertrophy template. This was my first venture into RPE style training, and while it was wonky at first, I gotta say I can't imagine training any other way now.
I like percentage work for backoffs, but utilizing RPEs on top sets is amazing. Really enjoy Jordan and Austin over there at Barbell Medicine
Put them in the wash and then dry them on high heat. My Rehbands have survived 10+ years doing that. In fact, putting them through the dryer on high heat shrinks them up a little bit. Also, my recommendation for knee sleeves is Rehband, obviously, and order from Jackalsgym.com Just make sure to order one size smaller than recommended.
In an unrelated note, What's up, fam? It's the first time I've logged in in about a month or two. I see you've survived without me.
I used some white vinegar then washed them. Seemed to work pretty good. Gonna try to wash them more often
Yeah I first heard of them through Rippetoe and starting strength, and really enjoyed the scientific approach to programming they outlined . I was stalling alot on 5/3/1, and thought I may have been overtrained, but after reading this article: https://startingstrength.com/article/into-the-great-wide-open-the-texas-method-and-5-3-1, I realized I was undertrained. I guess Rip and them have had a falling out, which is not surprising, given Rip's defensiveness when challenged.
I weirdly workout around a lot of starting strength people so watching them discuss that drama has been hilarious
Basically. Feigenbaum cut ties with SS after official online coaching became a thing. Now I guess Rip threatens to cut SS certs to anyone who associates with Barbell Medicine. Really stupid and petty honestly.
Does that include Alan Thrall? I feel like he was a big Rip/SS supporter but I know he works with the BBM guys, too.
I kinda hate you for introducing me to Z press. Today was presses and heavy lunges/hex bar walks, my body hurts.
i struggle mightly with z-press. i end up kinda hunched over even with light weight. not sure what vagina like ailment i am suffering from.
Had to leave the gym because I felt a pop in my left arm while doing curls. Headed to the dr now. I’ve been pushing hard because I have my wedding in a week so pretty pissed I put forth all of this effort just to have this speed bump thrown at me.
Yeah I think so. I don't think he is affiliated with SS/Rip anymore, and is working exclusively with BBM.
