Finishing up Candito’s squat program next week and pretty confident I’ll hit a nice PR. Hit a set of 3 at 5 pounds under my current PR and it didn’t feel terrible (I still don’t speak RPE). “Maxing out” next week.
Did a 365 pull today with a 4-5" decline, it took me at least 5 seconds to lock it out and arguably the most effort I've ever put into a lift. I'm not one to make sound effects but couldn't help myself.
Pulled a fast 455 for 4 @7 today. Every time the bar hit the ground this fucking IG #fitchick would gasp and scream like you pulled a gun on her. This isn’t a fucking YMCA. It’s literally nothing but barbells and plates with 1 machine. Go find another gym.
One of those days when I slept pretty well, ate well, had a good amount of energy, then start warming up and my shoulder is acting up, legs were already sore, and my energy just goes to zero. Did an hour of elliptical with the old ladies, good times.
Juggernaut just released an "A.I." coaching product for $27 (per 28 day cycle). I'm going to take a week and a half off after I max out on this squat program, but may give it a shot after that.
So after spending all the cash to get all his products IPF approved, Mark Bell announced that IPF has revoked it's approval for the "X" knee sleeve. The way the product is described, I have no idea how it got approved in the first place. I feel like he is trying to turn Raw into Equipped Light.
I’ve really made good progress over the past two years with my squat form. This video finally helped me lock it in. It just clicked.
hensleya Coop’s videos keep popping up in my que. Are you mortal enemies? Why do I get his videos in my suggested feed instead of yours? Ive never actually “clicked” on his, whereas I’ve watched several of yours. (Third bullet point TBD.)
It literally had denim in the description. How did anyone think those would be approved? I will give Mark credit for sending the new approved versions for free to anyone that bought them. Solid move.
Not enemies, but we disagree on a good bit. I find that he tries waaaaaay too hard and he’s tried to discredit me with burried comments. As examples you can read his review of the new Rep Fitness PowerSpeed Bar and then mine. He took a very weird stance on that bar... almost just so he could claim he is critical on products. Then read his review of the rogue flat bench and mine. On products that deserve criticism, he writes glowingly. Particularly rogue stuff. As for suggested videos, he has like 20x more than I do so that’s an algorithm thing. I took a break on YT the past couple months just cause this Fall has been crazy and I’ve been focusing on some other things with the business. Will be getting back on that saddle very soon. Just upgraded all my film gear.
Looking at a set of Vulcan bumpers off of CL, never purchased used plates. What should I be looking for? Is there a general $/lb or $/kg I should expect to pay?
https://atlanta.craigslist.org/sat/spo/d/garage-gym-sale-continued/6733776005.html Not sure which of the pictures show the remaining set, but from his description:
The alphas are very nice plates, but that’s not a big enough discount in my eyes off of new pricing (~80%). I’d offer $200 and settle in at $225 if he counters.
Along those same lines, this dude is basically asking brand new price for a used Rogue R-3 rack + Matador: How much would you realistically offer for this: https://annarbor.craigslist.org/spo/d/rogue-3-power-rack-matador/6721457311.html I don't plan on building a home gym, but I wouldn't mind having a rack and bench around for certain things.
Lol that’s absurd. I’d pay no more than $500. I’m about to sell a bolt together r-3 with expanded depth, mono arms, a matador, and custom flip down safeties for around $850-900.
Gym equipment seems to hold its value way more than you’d think. Especially the people trying to sell their barely used Rogue and other premier branded shit.
SIAP, but this is a bummer. R.I.P., big man. https://barbend.com/konstantin-konstantinovs-obituary/?__s=hovvrp2e98fasafxidqr
I haven’t heard an official cause of death, but apparently some Russian had commented on IG that it was from a street fight. Guy was insane. THIS IS MY FUCKING BELT
Have done behind the neck press for a while but never really went all the way down/cheated and kinda narrow grip. Did it today how Klokov does it Klokov/Savickas, any other crazy Russian/Eastern European presses out there to cripple me
Need some advice on my routine. Been working out routinely for the last 6 months (~4 times per week) and have seen definite changes in my appearance and overall health. I have to get my vitals checked every year for my health insurance discount, and my numbers are down a good bit from last year. Always been a pretty athletic guy and stayed in good shape without ever really working out. Kids, pregnant wife, and getting older have changed that the last 2-3 years. I was at 210 lbs in January, started working out in April, and I'm now down to 182 as of this morning. But I've been stuck there for about 5-6 weeks, and I still have some areas I need to tone up and some weight I'd like to lose. Here's what I've been doing since April. I work out Mon-Tues-Thur-Fri. I run for about 30 minutes each day. Then I focus on a muscle group or two each day. I've been doing shoulders Monday, legs Tuesday, chest/tris Thursday, and back/bis Friday. Normally, I do 4-5 exercises per muscle group plus an ab workout of some sort every day. I eat between 1,800-2,000 calories each day. Usually eggs and vegetables in the morning, chicken and veggies at lunch, steak or chicken with veggies and sweet potatoes at night. Usually work out in the afternoons anywhere from 3-5. Not currently taking any supplements or protein. Should I change anything with my routine or eating or just keep doing what I'm doing?
Thoughts: Anything is better than nothing, so great job just getting started. I’m sure that 30lb weight loss feels great, but try not to fixate on weight alone. It’s just one number among many. Obviously if you were still 210lbs but had gotten your body fat down to, oh I don’t know, say 6%, I’m sure you wouldn’t view your progress as “stuck.” If you’re doing cardio and lifting, prioritize the weights first and conclude your workout with the cardio. You’re going to lose fat by gaining muscle. Never underestimate the number of fat people on treadmills. Focusing on muscle groups may be your thing, and there’s nothing inherently wrong with it. I personally favor compound lifts that engage a lot of muscle groups and have you moving a lot of weight (squats, deadlift, squats, overhead press, bench press, and more squats.) May be worth considering switching up your routine and trying something new for a few months, my suggestion will always be StrongLifts 5x5. Sounds like you’re short on calories and especially calories from carbohydrates. Consider sitting down with a nutritional counselor or dietician and doing a caloric/macro assessment. If you’re going to do this, track everything you eat for a week prior to the meeting through the MyFitnessPal app, then bring that info to your consultation. For general health, this is fine. If you want to add a little muscle/lose some fat, do what BrickTamland mentioned and throw in some more calls (specifically carbs) and prioritize lifting before cardio with compound lifts. Hit the compounds heavy (Don’t max out every time but 75-85% of your max is the sweet spot) then pound the accessory lifts with a ton of volume.
Pulled 465x4 @7.5 last night. Think that may be a PR. Next week going for 475x4 which is definitely a PR
I took a couple months off from squats and deadlifts the last few months since I’ve been traveling a lot and frankly, I was down to one pair of pants that fit and it was annoying the shit out of me. Been doing yoga twice a week over that time frame and I’ve lost absolutely zero strength after getting two deadlift sessions in the last two weeks. That was totally unexpected
