it helps improve new muscle growth, what you gain from that muscle growth depends on you and how you trained those muscles.
it looks like it, he's been cutting a lot of weight and was posing on his ig. i don't really think it'll look that great, but he'll have plenty of mass to work with.
Only started in the fall but main thing for me is it's allowed me to work out for longer periods and without that feeling of having nothing left in you. I definitely think it works but yeah, you'll gain some weight from water retention.
Eddie said when he won a WSM title he was gonna retire. So he had been losing wait for general health then had some kind of stomach surgery. Not sure what he does next. Hopefully some powerlifting.
I think it was a hernia repair. Either way, he always said he hated having to be that big (and it obviously wasn't healthy nor sustainable). He was just obsessed with winning WSM once, and put on the necessary weight to do so.
Training at The Rack in Atlanta. If you haven’t trained here when you’re in town you’re missing out. hensleya sqhatting on the Boneyard bar. Really like the knurling on this thing.
Moving my bench weights better than ever, felt fabulous. Put on 275 for a PR then start worrying about my feet placement and hands didn't feel right and instead of waiting a few minutes to clear my head of stupid thoughts, put it up and failed. Pretty pissed at myself, know I had it today. Hopefully next week.
Pretty sure I’ve mentioned this in here, but changing my thought process from “what if” to “I’m going to smoke this” has made my lifting so much better. I rarely overshoot now and that has a lot to do with it.
Hey if you guys want to come lift with me at Curves in the Atlanta suburbs I can get you in on a guest pass probably just let me know thanks.
Thor hit 440 kg in wraps on squat. I respect him for allowing his judges to red light him at his own meet and posting his two failed attempts along with his white lights on Instagram.
They were strict too. That third looked deep even from the front. He finished with a 250/551 bench and a 410/903 deadlift for a 1100/2425 total
Every week for the last 3 my heavy singles have gotten lower and lower. I can blow through my 90% sets with breeze, then everything goes to shit. I'm not surenif it is strength or I've gotten out of sync technically and it's fucking me up
i keep fumbling with straps and got frustrated, tried mixed grip on deadlift today. does it matter if i switch hands from set to set? it felt comfortable either way.
I am by no means an expert, but I read somewhere that you should alternate your mix grip. I cant exactly remember the reason for it.
Mostly just so you work both sides evenly. You can create a muscle imbalance if you only ever use the same grip. At least that’s what they say. Seems like the top guys all have their preferred grip that they always use, but I’m not sure if they switch it up regularly when training or not.
I need to work on that big time. My dominant is right but never feel comfortable with it under and always go left under/right over. So, maybe it's good for overall strength that my left is getting more work in? Yeah, I'm going with that logic.
When I talked to Bill Kazmaier after the ‘98 WSM competition, he told me to go under with the hand you use to beat your meat. HTH
Svend Karlsen has you beat by 15 years. I watch this entire movie before every strongman competition for motivations.
I've seen a few places now where people put their underhand a bit wider than their overhand, is this a normal practice? Had quite a good day despite binge drinking over the weekend and my legs being absolutely dead for days. Week off next week couldn't come at a better time.
Wider as in the underhand is gripping the bar further away from their body than their over hand? Probably a mobility issue
So it seems that I respond to squats having some decent squat/DL volume 3-4 days prior. I’m toying with the idea of squatting some decent volume on the Tuesday before my meet, pulling some moderate volume on Wednesday, some benching on Wednesday and were off to the races
I haven’t really heard of that, but I’m guessing it’s to create more tension in your upper back. I’m assuming he can’t generate as much if his under hand is closer
Kirill Sarychev (who benched 661 at this meet after taking a year off and only training for 2 months) had a video from the side on his story that looked borderline to high on his 3rd.
You have to be looking from the side to tell if it's a good lift or not. I believe the rule is that the crease in the hip has to go below the knee. It's possible he didn't quite make it there in a couple of those.
Pulled 500 for 3 tonight @8 followed by 410 for 6 sets of 4. Starting to warm up to the idea that I’ve got an outside shot at 600 in 9 weeks
