Starting my last week of this hypertropy block. Made it throw my RPE 10 sets of 10. Top set was 375x10. I made it through, but had to dial way back on the backoff sets. They key was a shit ton of rest between sets. I've been having to split up my main lift from my accessories on my heavy squat and deadlift days. Haven't gotten my next block yet, but I REALLY hope we get back to strength. But with my meet still 5 months away, I'm a little worried it's going to be closer to this than heavy singles...
Hope you have something comfy to fall on after doing 10x385. Love splitting up my "heavy" days. Always deadlift Sunday morning(most times with a hangover), might do some rows or shit after then take 4-5 hours off then finish my workout. Take a solid 30-45 minutes to get through my deadlifts, almost a hour with stretching.
Took 45 min on my squat work today, first time I’ve squatted in 6 weeks. Time to suck tomorrow’s dick
Was still feeling it this morning when I got to my snatch grip deadlifts, which have always been sets of 12-15. Damn.
Got 2 on 3rd set, I failed. Grip went to absolute shit and couldn't pump myself up enough. Singles next Sunday, yay.
Why can't my glutes just be sore at the same time. Right is currently on fire, will likely feel fine at some point tomorrow morning. Will think it's over then left will start acting up. Every fucking week of this.
Gone down a great rabbit hole tonight: Dmitry Klokov greatest hits. Must be pretty cool doing “me presses” if you’re Klokov.
I love Klokov, built on the very best Russian PEDs The CrossFit Tabata he does is one of the crazier things you'll ever see, the crazy CrossFit guys do them at like half the weights he does
Went to the beach this weekend for a friends birthday. Spent all weekend in the drinking in the sun. Get off the plane today and head to the gym to get the work done with the full expectation my performance would be taking a dip. Best bench session I’ve had in a few weeks. Lifting makes 0 sense
I'm 2 weeks from 3 days in Miami/4day cruise and this is the best cycle I've ever had. Cruise bill was 3 pages long of drinks. OHP is up again, deadlift/squat keep improving, and literally benched for the first time of 2019 and that was up too. I'm sure my weight is at least 200 now but belt is same size as when I was 185-190 so I'm fucking good
#1 thing I love about lifting is fuck calories. For the most part, I eat extremely healthy while drinking way too much but I still get gains.
Any of you do deadlifts with leg day? I've noticed a few folks doing it at my new gym. I've always done deads on back days.
And the resulting large poos. It’s admittedly weird, but weighing yourself before and after... why is that so satisfying?
Been out of the loop on knee sleeves for a while Are rehbands still the way to go? I know slingshot and sbd are popular now too
Stoic Stronghouse Project SBD STrong I’d use any of those, but I haven’t heard great things about the newest SBD sleeves. They’re not bad per se, but the quality has apparently gone down some
i haven't gotten into sleeves yet, but i did finally spring for a pair of wrist supports. my gym owner is sponsored by Norse Fitness and we get a 15% off code as members.
New job has a gym on-campus, so going to start working out here. Anyone have a good gym bag they like? Would need to hold clothes, shoes, towel, etc, etc. I do have to walk about 7 blocks to work, so something smaller would be nice, but big enough to hold all the essentials.
High Sierra backpacks are great Durable and have a ton of pockets to separate everything, imagine walking 7 blocks would be a lot better with a backpack than duffle
2nd on the backpack. most duffles have shitty straps, if i was walking blocks i would prefer the comfort.
I’m gonna pull 505+ for 2 doubles tonight with the first rep being paused. Nice little PR in the middle of tons of volume.
Also, if y’all haven’t seen the whole CC Holcomb deal.....hoo boy. TLDR that piece of shit DJ about a loaded gun to her head because her phone was going off. She pulled out of the US Open to get her life in order. Hope she can get out of the cycle of abuse.
i just read most of this TLDR blog post https://colemanstrongstrengthsystems.wordpress.com/2018/07/29/times-up/
I've started doing what he does at 5:30 and it's working like magic. Loosens up everything from pec-bicep which is normally super tight for me. Worth a shot for anyone with shoulder issues
Voodoo bands may be the best $30 or whatever I've ever spent. Had knee pain for months, completely gone. Had some bicep soreness tonight, wrapped it around them and gone too. Have spent more time stretching but voodoo bands are a godsend.
Around 5 minutes unless I put them on super tight and I feel I've gotten enough. Will wrap upper leg/opposite knee then switch. I have no clue if it's normal but it's working. Do stretching, resistance bands, roller for warmup; voodoo bands are post workout for me.
Just benched 300 for 2 with the first rep being a 3 count pause. Then 275 for 2 more sets after. I’m really starting to Bench with the elite 132lb women
