    My bench may currently suck, my legs may still be sore, but killed a [email protected] OHP today, didn't struggle on any reps. Max is currently 175 and confident I have 185 in me but will go for 180 first.

    Also some crazy old Asian managed to run their car through a wooden fence into a tree in the parking lot, thankfully nobody was hurt.

    Seven straight weeks of lifting. Don’t think I’ve ever done that in my life.

    I’m embarrassed to even post my lifts, but switching jobs really has been a life changer for me.

    Remember a post I had in here asking if smith machines worked. Gotta start somewhere, just keep at it and do research and just continue trying to get better.

    Still absolutely nowhere where I wanna be.

    Oh no chance I actually drop out, but you have 2 meh days in a row and you’re just throwing your belt and wrist wraps wondering why you do this. Then the fatigue goes away on meet day and you crush it and you’re sucked back in.
    Squat - 545-550
    Bench - 353-358
    Deadlift - 573-600

    So like 1,471-1,503?

    Wasn’t able to work out for about 2 months but been in the gym daily for 3 weeks. Put on 7 pounds. Is that pretty typical for that stretch.

    Add on: I use pre workout so I’m guess some of that is water retention. Correct?

    Yea I’d say less than a lb is muscle and the rest is water retention. You’re muscles “defense” mechanism to the new stress you’re putting it under is to retain water. It’ll shed off.

    Went to the gym 4 times last week, which is more than I’ve been within a week in about three years. Just lifting right now, but I’m thinking about working in some light-medium cardio for no reason other than the fact that I think I will feel healthier.

    I’m about 170 right now with a solid dad bod physique (drink too much beer) and want to get up to 185-190 before I cut. Haven’t done regular cardio in about 5 years...how much would a little cardio impede progress?

    The more you do the more you’ll need to eat to gain muscle. If you kept it at 2-3 times a week for 15-20 minutes of walking, easy biking or rowing you’d be fine

    180 was a no go but got 170x2 OHP on a day where I didn't sleep a ton and wasn't feeling very fresh, I'll certainly take it.

    Tried some bench with kettlebells attached today, was pretty fun and really worked the stabilizer muscles. Will keep it in the rotation for a bit and see if it helps.

    500 for a double, had 1 more but mindset going in was 2. 98%+ of max single, solid day. Now a rest week.

    Pause bench 250x3 today

    Was way harder than I wanted because I broke my pinky the other day and couldn’t squeeze the bar at all but still the most I’ve done in a couple years. I think my all time pause PR was 305 @200 bodyweight and I’m weighing in around 178 these days so pound for pound I’m not too far off.

    i weighed in at 178 yesterday. when i started adding calories in March I was at 165 and holding steady.

    Went to the dr today for the first time in 3 years. He told me to lose 50lbs. :(

    You guys at 178 are making me feel better since I thought I was the smallest at 185. Still way weaker than you, but more mass.

    Also got 315x2 for the first time ever in squats last weekend. Finally breaking through some mental barriers.

    Crazy to me that doctors use BMI as a measurement At 5'11, have to be below 180 or I’m “overweight” fuck off

    This was me at a work health checkup. Guy evaluating me looked at the chart and said commented that I was clearly not overweight. Stupid metric.

    As far as setting it up, do the lifts as prescribed then I’d suggest doing some type of supplemental lift after: a variation of the lift i.e. close grip bench, pause squat, RDL, etc. do this for some type of set/rep scheme for 20-30 reps then go pound assistance exercises (triceps, rows, shoulders, etc)

    frustrating day. i have a strain in my left shoulder and like a dummy didn’t get set up well. had 310x8 before deload, went for 315x6 and got 3 reps the last one was barely going up, tried 310 and got 3 again. i was shook :(

    Remember us posting goals for the new year so looked up mine. 7 months in, 5 months left.

    Hit that on deadlift though I don't conventional that often. Likely have already beat whatever hex goal I would have and progress is way beyond what I expected.
    Don't know what my squat goal was but getting there. Better at lunges and they're going well.
    Bench, not really close right now but I also didn't care for bench the first 3-4 months of the year.
    OHP, 10 pounds off.

    Lower body and back, solid. Arms and chest, needs some work. Overall, I'm happy.
